Still not working though. The loading wheel just gets the first two notches lit up and then loops infinitely. Gotta be a local issue. Probably from a microsoft update, since their new updates are breaking every other ****ing thing on the planet lately.

Because Australia is backwards I just bought a physical copy of Doom for cheaper than I've seen it digital, might even play it with a controller.

Did anyone else back Torment: Tides of Numenera? Although the release is Q1 2017, it seems the game has been pretty much finished since june (last months are for minor tweaks and translations to other languages) and any backer can redeem their key for Steam, which will both allow Beta access and act as the key for the final product.

My most underrated game of last gen by a wide margin. EA killed it's marketing just before killing Pandemic.

There were a bunch of sadly underrated and forgotten open world games. The Godfather, Red Faction 2, GUN...

It was cool when "modern day major city" wasn't the only setting allowed for those sorts of games.

GUN especially. It was RDR, before RDR, with a cast that literally could've been in a $100M movie:

Bizarrely despite it being great and RDR being a huge success AFAIK nobody else has tried to make another 19th century GTA. The Wild West seems like such a natural setting for that. The studio that made it was the Tony Hawk studio(???) and no longer exists.

GUN, Mercenaries, and the Godfather games were great.

I've actually been playing RDR recently and it IS mindblowing how much innovation was simply chucked after that game. It was so painfully obvious how pumped Rockstar devs were to be doing something that wasn't GTA. RDR is so polished (and still gorgeous) and feels like a living world. I mean, I'm playing it six years on now and I'm not sick of it.

I think Open-World is a really tough genre. It seems to be one of the most expensive types of games to develop, so everyone is scared to take risks with it and most end up copying GTA. And everyone is afraid of failing because of examples like GUN.

I don't know where you guys are coming from but open world games are probably the biggest genre for SP right now and there's a ton of variety. Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, Mad Max, Batman, Just Cause, Mordor, Fallout, Skyrim, Infamous etc etc.

GUN was great though and I loved it. I actually beat it on 3 different platforms(GC, 360, PC) I liked it that much. It was made by the THPS devs(Neversoft) who were one of my fav studios before Activision killed them by making them work on COD.

This mother****er is one of the worst bosses of all time though.



It's actually the opposite to this. The Leslie Benzies' case brought out some details about the RDR dev and it was a nightmare. Benzies was the lead at Rockstar North who do GTA, RDR was handled by Rockstar San Diego. Long story short it got to the point where Sam Houser was quote "losing his mind" and sent Benzies an email saying "PLEASE help me/us get [Read Dead Redemption] into shape. I am a jabbering wreck right now. I need The Benz!"

The Benz stepped in and saved the day.
