I hava no clue how you guys burned through talos so fast. I'm 15 hour in and I just perfected the A hub (all sigis + all stars), completed B with many stars still to go and pretty much haven't touched C. Got 3 white sigils, 3 messengers and I'm on tower level 4. Stil quite the amount of hours to go (and the expansion + I wanna watch the Seriou Sam Voice DLC on youtube). And imho I'm progressing whith speed too, lol.

well jumping between the hubs all the time doesn't sound like speed

Finished Voice from the sea. My first novel game. I don't think I like the genre...

New Humble Bundle seems nice. I didn't have XCOM or CIV5 so snap bought the bundle. I was trying to avoid CIV5 because a guy on my steam friends list has over 8,400 hours logged into that game, which I find terrifying.

I was going to give away the crappy stuff like CIV3, CIV4, Starships, Ace Patrol, Pirates... but they now bundle each tier of games under one steam key.

That's an awesome bundle. If you got the one that includes enemy within, look up the long war mod and install it. It improved on the base game so much

Oh, that is unfortunate change. Xcom for 1$ is certainly a steal. The BtA tier not so much since civ 5 is 3.75 in sales, I think. Civ 4 is very good too, though. Civ 4 complete > civ 5 base game.

I recently bought the complete edition of Civ 5 and I'm quite addicted From what I heard the game got quite a bit better with the 2 expansions though.

Hmmm, I'm supposed to have CIV4 complete, but I only got the base game.

edit: Nevermind it all just magically appeared there just now...

I enjoyed the **** out of pirates, though I will admit it may partially be due to the nostalgia from playing the original on Nintendo as a kid.

BTA looks like a snap buy if you don't have Xcom or one of the Civ games (assuming you want either).

Pirates definitely holds up, and Ace Patrol is OK, certainly not crappy. XCOM is obviously the jewel but that's the best bundle ever imo at the BtA level. The top tier is garbage ignore it.

So I noticed that The Darkest Dungeon is out of Early Access and everybody was hyped about it and playing the **** out of it at some point. I think the reviews were at like 95%+ on Steam and they're down 86% now, so something must have happened. When you click below the most helpful reviews are negative (actually just checked, it's not the case but it's not as overwhelmingly positive as it used to be). So supposedly the devs are ****, they didn't improve the game for over a year, they tried to supress criticism and they added fake content (more of the same) and made the game impossible to beat (think of more randomness than XCOM and add Dark Soul difficulty), so that it seems like a deeper game overall. They also sent their people all around the internet to praise the game and shut the criticism.

If that's all true, which it seems, that's a pity, I have to remove it from my wishlist. Or maybe I'll pick it up when it drops below 5€.

I had Darkest Dungeon on my wish list too, but checking it out yesterday all I saw was how the difficulty was way too high and it was very complex to get into on top of that.

Don't mind a challenge but I don't play games just to get frustrated either, so will at least wait a while and check the reviews and a few videos before (maybe) getting it.

It's not that difficult IMO, you just aren't going to win every mission and some of your characters dies. The blurb at the beginning (the one about making the most out of a bad situation) is pretty accurate.

If they're not in the next bundle your best move is probably to just buy the Complete Edition even though you already have the base game. I got it for 12 € recently, you should be able to find a similar price by looking around a bit.

The difficulty thing gets waaay over played, you have a full rosta of heroes, some will die, but once you understand the game mechanics which are not super obscure or complex, keeping an A Team of hard ****ers alive for boss runs is not that difficult.

I'll take 2+2 opinions over random complainers on the net any day obv, but have you played it lately? The comments claim they upped the difficulty a lot the last few months before release, so earlier EA-play may not apply.

Some comments claimed the developers had done little else the past months than seek out any players guide to the game and made sure to up the difficulty of anything those said just to make the game stupidly difficult.

They got rid of "cheese strategies" like continually stunning mobs, stacking stress past 100% and their corpse system makes things more difficult (and more interesting imo) whether these strategies were worth eliminating or not is subjective but I personally think it added to the game and made it less likely that one strategy is dominant in all situations.

I was actually playing it while typing my response! I stopped playing about two weeks ago since I knew I was restarting yesterday with the new release. Before that I played 100+ game weeks on the last build. I really enjoy the game, which is pretty dark. The voice over and writing is just incredible. Probably my favorite part of the game is starting a new boss mission and hearing the monologue prelude.

Edit - I would say most of my most heart breaking losses were totally on me gambling and knowingly taking risks I didn't have to because I was greedy. Also, I know I don't dismiss heroes enough. Occasionally rng will screw you, but you actually have a fair amount of protection against your characters dying. They don't die when they hit zero hp, even if they are sitting on 1 hp and get hit for 20. And just healing them 1 gets you back above the threshold. And when they take damage at zero they usually survive.

The stress mechanic is pretty well done, too.
