I'm planning on doing this with the old D&D games (actually I've never played them outside of part of Baldur's Gate II) , but part of that is because I haven't bought Divinity yet
I've never really understood Kickstarter and I'm surprised with how successful it's been. Perhaps I underestimated the amount of fanboyism that happens these days but I can't believe how eager people are to donate to projects that may or may not get made with the ultimate prize being 'Hey, someone might develop just the type of game/movie etc. that you like!' I guess I could see it with something like Veronica Mars, which people were crazy interested in and was relatively recent (still all they got out of it was some movie that I guess wrapped up the story?), but no way I would back something like Wasteland 2 despite the fact that the Fallout games are my favorite of all time - I mean the first Wasteland is pretty much unplayable today and there was no way to anticipate a great sequel 26 years later. Will I buy Kickstarter products when they are finished? Sure! But no way am I putting myself out there on something that's barely in production just because I might like the concept.
