FO3 was better! BLASPHEMY ITT!!!

(yeah, NV for $15 is a good deal, I just think you'd be doing yourself a disservice by saying to yourself "oh cool this sale is a good way for me to check out one of the new Fallout games" and skipping out on FO3 in the process, esp since I bet its GOTY edition with all the DLC and such is pretty cheap at this point)

I certainly didn't mean to the exclusion of Fallout 3, I'd definitely play them both. It's not like Fallout 1 -> Fallout 2 though, so he can go and play 3 no problem. Fallout 3 GOTY still might be a daily deal too, which would be sweet.

The only game in the fallout series that should be skipped is Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel.

I'm pretty sure there was a thread for retail deals at some point.

FO3 GOTY is $22.50 on Steam but it may still be a deal of the day before the sale is over.

I thought FO3 kinda sucked. I mean the gameplay and setting was pretty good, but I was so bored by the story and characters. Scared me more than any horror game tho when I was wandering around the wasteland and met one of those mutated bears for the first time.

Picked up the 2x New Vegas DLCs for $2.99 each. Pretty glad I didn't have to pay $10 each.

Is anybody else feeling annoyed when a game is "only" 50% off? I'm sure Civ 5 will go cheaper at some point. (It's too bad I already have Borderlands and the Bioshock games, so I can't go with the 2K pack.)

It's too late now, but Mount & Blade is really awesome, albeit experimental. Don't expect a polished game, but expect to see gameplay elements that you won't see anywhere else. It's typical of a Paradox game, promising, deep, but flawed. I had the original, but now I have them all because I got the Paradox pack.

Is anybody bothering with these summer achievements? Is this DLC exclusive to summer camp, or will we be able to buy it after the sale closes? Does claiming the DLC remove tickets from the raffle?

Yeah especially when the regular price is still $50 or $60. I won't buy a game at "only" 50% off unless it is $20 or less regularly.

I've just done the ones that don't require playing a game, plus the TF2 one. As far as DLC being exclusive I don't know. I used 3 tickets for the Defense Grid map packs but I know you can just buy those as regular DLC. I have like 250 games on Steam yet I only have 2 with any of the DLC, one of which I bought yesterday. Claiming DLC doesn't remove tickets from the raffle.

I currently have 4 tickets left to spend. Only dlc that I have the game for is the TF2 glasses. I'll probably get the Portal 2 snorkels if they decide to put Portal 2 on sale for more than 33% off.

As far as Civ 5 goes I know there has been at least 1 major patch since launch. I last played it before that patch and still liked it but the last Civ game I played was Civ 2 so maybe it sucks compared to 3 & 4.

Not that I care, I got a free Civ 5 download code with my processor

It will take you 89413 months to finish playing all the games you already bought from this sale, and by then Civ 5 will only cost $0.13.

Can you get the DLC if you don't have the game, and then apply it when you get the game?

Some of the games up there have gone for only a couple of bucks and have decent metacritic scores. I'm holding out on claiming any because I assume pretty much all of those games will be daily deals at some point (so far about half of them already have been) and I won't know which ones I'm going to buy until I see how good the deals are. But I'm willing to buy a decent casual game for $3.00, I spend $4.00 regularly on a milkshake or Taco Bell, a 5-hour casual gaming experience (with extra 15 hours for achievements) seems very worth it.

And that gives me the ability to get more game achievements, but I've been stuck for days on this damned Meat Boy achievement, close now...

also, what about Monkey Island? it's really expensive (7.49€ for The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition and Monkey Island 2 Special Edition: LeChuck’s Revenge) but it's a classic from what i know and should have aged well.

If you like adventure games and have never played them, it's probably worth it. They're excellent examples of the form.

Lovely games, but I have to think "these are going to be on sale every single time Steam does a promotion, and eventually they'll do an 85% off franchise sale or something."

Just looking over my account history on Steam. I have spent $1040.42 on Steam since I joined (Sept. 2003).

I have only paid full price for 4 games ($214.96 just for these):

The Orange Box
Call of Duty 4
Dragon Age Origins Deluxe
Left 4 Dead

Only one I regret is L4D since I only played the campaign once which is like 5 hours, plus it went on sale for 50% off like 10 days later.
