I registered last night. This morning, I had Watch Dogs 2 in my Uplay library. It was right next to Watch Dogs 1, which I got free at some point and have also never played.
Just finished Desperados III. Cliffs: Awesome RTS game with a lot of replay value.
Pros:
-The game is hard in a good way. When you finally manage to overcome an apparently insurmountable obstacle, the satisfaction is immense - way better than the feeling from beating a hard boss in an action game, bc in Desperados, your brain will be mostly responsible for your victories.
-Amazing replay value: there are several ways to complete each mission, and the game hints at some of the (after you complete a level) with optional difficulty modifiers,
-Excellent music that would not feel out of place in a Spaghetti Western.
-Good graphics.
-Excellent voice acting.
-This is a minor feature, but there is a replay function that shows you a map of each completed level and how you beat it.
Cons:
-This game should have been 5-10 euros cheaper.
-While the story is not as important in such a game as it were in RPGs, it felt fairly stereotypical.
-Some of the filler dialogues wear their welcome fairly quickly (which is a pity bc ther are also great dialogues present).
-There are some minor pathfinding issues.
Made by the same company in the same style I believe
This, but with some improvements. If you liked Shadow Tactics you’re gonna love this (well, probably not the price. I still think it’s a tad too high).
Worth noting for Shadow Tactics veterans: Desperados has a new difficulty level with even faster reactions and a Shadow mode that does not pause the game. As if this wasn’t hard already :P
I'm having a lot of fun with the new Trackmania, just played the free version but I'm sure I'll pay in the end.
Free version has a ton of content, training maps, seasons maps,etc...
It has some kind of yearly subscription model that people were suspicious about , but I think it's well made and not greedy (historically Trackmania games are cheap and very well updated).
I recommend it
On other note, I bought 2 games on steam sale, 2 oldies:
katamari demaci reroll (this is really addictive)
terraria (I remember when it was 1$ on sale back in the day lol)

I splurged on the 10€ tier because I was enjoying the 25 free levels very much. Not all the daily tracks are really up there in terms of what I prefer, but there is a ton of variety and honestly a ton of creativity. I think 10 bucks is fair, but not having any customization options at that tier is bordering on stupid.
But the game runs well and I like the set pieces this year, so all in all a good 7.5-8/10 for the genre imho.
I'm still in the early chapters but damn the game is so nice. It 100% gives you the half-life vibe. The VR is super immersive. Like when a strider walks by over your head... Goosebumps! It also plays well on low end hw. It runs fine at low settings on a slightly OC'd GTX 970. I might even be able to bump up the settings. I'm using a Dell Visor WMR VR headset connected to my HTPC.
The only real negative I have so far is that you can really notice the linear maps. Half-life in the past was always really good at disguising this.
Hellpoint, a new futuristic soulslike that I had on a wishlist for a few months, is out on Steam today. I normally stay away from sci-fi settings (much prefer fantasy), but this had enough eldrich horror themes to catch my eye.
I watched some Dark Souls streamers play it on twitch for a bit and a game seems really good, if a bit buggy at the moment. I'm not gonna get it at the moment, as I have a massive backlog of games after the steam sale, but I will definitely keep an eye out and buy it some time in the future.

Man, tried to play it the other night, told me to link my Ubisoft account. I wish I could remember my Ubisoft account.
Now it's saying an Epic Games service is unavailable. FML.
I've was playing more Alyx... Three days ago, I was playing for about 5 hours. Well because it's a VR game, it is all done standing and there are parts where you need to reach down or duck gun fire or crawl under low areas. Well after I was done I felt a small tweak in my lower back. The next day I went with my family on a moderate 5 mile hike through hills. My back hurt but wasn't too bad. However, that night my back said no more and all I could do was basically lay on the floor. Even today, mobility is really restricted. ugh.
Also, it appears I forgot the basic half-life strategy of busting everything open. I must have left tons of ammo and healing unclaimed. However, I'm still less than 1/2 way through the game. Gogogo me. Hopefully returning soon.
I'll actually do this thing, especially when playing Crusader Kings, where I half spin my chair and start to get up. But, I'm really into the game and still clicking a few things onscreen and maybe another events pops up...
Suddenly realize, I've been sitting with my neck and half my body turned in this horrible position for an hour. Ugh.
Sitting at the edge of your seat really changes a lot, it forces your posture upright. Upper body in proper position makes your blood flow better and it tires you less as well.
With very little effort you can really improve your sitting if you look up the rules, there are many things that we do wrong but they're easily graspable. It's mostly about proper angles and doing simple tricks like moving your leg in a certain way that has direct effect on your back.
