It's boring.

Source: I played it for 100 hours.

This is what i purchased

CK 2
Way of Life
The Reaper's Due
Legacy of Rome
Conclave
Sons of Abraham
The old Gods

Is there anything else i should pick up to have a good experience to start the game? The reason i excluded plenty of the eastern expansions/DLC is that i will probably spend the first playthroughs in Europe as that is were my main interest is.

Why did you not like Skyrim?
empty world, forgettable plot and non-existant feeling of progression due to everything scaling with you. Skyrim is basically a walking simulator in a fantasy setting. Enderal fixes all that and adds so, so much more. Not sure if you are able to install it on a VR version, though, it requires vanilla Skyrim to run.

Never finished the main story in Skyrim, but it's still one of my favorite games ever. Looking forward to ES6 later this year or whenever it's released.

Borderlands 3 though is easily the game I'm most looking forward to. Should be out late this year or early next.

Despite being in EA there are 30 levels so far (I think the finished product will have 50), it's not buggy or anything, leaderboards are new-ish and still kinda suck but everything else (especially the core mechanics, which are the most important part) is solid. Lots of replayability per level to try to get all 5 stars (under a certain time limit + two other conditions), which is usually too hard on your first try until you play it and get a sense of what your ideal supply chain should look like.

The formula has changed a little - now each map starts with a couple cities that supply workers and want certain products, and you generate those products by sending workers to factories, which make products (some of which are intermediate, i.e. iron ore to supply to another factory that turns them into steel ingots) to send back to other factories/cities. It's more interesting than the first game, which was just "send this train to this other station", as it requires you to plan out the order you're going to build things.
It's crazy how good this game is. I loved the original Train Valley, but giving it a little bit more of an economic feel makes it a lot more engaging.

just a reminder that today is the last day of paradox 7th anniversary sale with CK2 DLCs being mostly 75% off

https://www.paradoxplaza.com/on-sale/

Pulled the trigger myself on Way of Life and The Reaper's Due for €4.50 total. Other DLCs own are Sword of Islam, The Old Gods and Legacy of Rome. I'll buy Holy Fury in a year or two.

I'd also get Sons of Abraham, Conclave and Monks & Mystics. They all make playing in Europe better. (And truth to be told, I think Holy Fury adds so many fun features that if you plan to play the game for more than 10 hours, I'd just get it too. Your time is most like more limited than your wealth.)

Okay, I got Sons of Abraham, I was super close to getting it and you convinced me. Undecided on the rest so will wait for now.

Said **** it on Thursday and spent $40 to get all the CK2 expansions I didn't have, including the latest. And then Friday Anthem came out and since I have Origin Premiere I downloaded it and have been playing it nonstop.

Having basically no hype for the game and not paying attention to it, I think the E3 announcement trailer is the only thing I had seen, I'm really enjoying it. Keep seeing it compared to Warframe but I thought Warframe was garbage. No idea how I'll feel in a week or a month but so far I'm liking it a lot.

Blasphemy! Warframe is great, even better when you take into account that it’s free; I stopped playing because it was too much of a grind but the actual gameplay is sick.

Also I think Anthem has been fairly hyped if for no other reason than it’s from BioWare, though I think the beta went poorly.

Pulled the trigger on BTA Paradox Bundle to get EU4 and AoW3, that means I have to give away:
CK2, The Old Gods, Magicka 2 and I noticed left over Bastion from earlier. Usual rules, please PM if you want something.

Not sure why people are so excited about it when the first one was so hated by many and loved by handful. Hollow Knight Silksong is another story though.

Darkest Dungeon is probably the biggest example I have of a game that some people just kept raving about until I tried it and found it to be abysmal. At no point did I find it engaging, entertaining, or interesting.

Hollow Knight on the other hand had me tilted in all the best ways at points. Had to take a break or two but always came back to it. I'm excited for the sequel.

I'm also excited for the sequel of Ori and the Blind Forest.

I found Darkest Dungeon quite fun for the first 10 hours. After I realized the next 40 hours will be identical to the first ten I gave up on the game. I enjoyed the game thematically and visually and the game play was ok too, even if there was bit too high rng factor with opponents occasionally one-shotting your guys.

Yeah same for me except that DD translated better to iPad imo and I ended up playing a lot more on there than I did on my computer, even if the touch controls should have been more intuitive. I love the art and narration but it’s just 40-80 hours of the same **** over and over with incremental progression.

Hollow Knight was wonderful but not positive if the sequel will be available on a platform I own Let's talk about Stream and buy mountains of games. Would prefer PS4 since that’s where i played HK but would settle for a MAC version.

Looks like PC, Mac and Switch on release. Don’t see any mention of PS4 yet.

42k reviews on steam with 85% positive. Maybe it just wasn't your thing.

Darkest Dungeon is awesome, but it's not a game you just sit down with and play it through, as it is indeed very repetative. I played it for like 10 hours/month for over a year and it was really great, just do one expedition every now and then and you won't be bored.

Will definitely be buying 2nd game.

I loved it for the first 5-6 hours. Then I realized what the game was going to turn into.

I doubt that out of those 85% positive reviews that more than 10% of them completed a full playthrough.

It's definitely not for everybody.

Steam review system is pretty bad aggregate anyways. There is a lot games which might get a positive review from me, but they are still 6/10 or 7/10. The main things the review aggregate tells are following:

-Does the publisher/dev suck?
-Is this game bad?
-Is this game released too early?

So rather than telling if the game is good, it tells if it is 'not bad'.

The point is a game that is "hated on by so many" does not get 85% positive on Steam.

Also anyone saying I played it for X hours and realised what it would turn into is selling themselves really short, game play evolves in several directions over the campaign.

Its not an AAA title, its 2D, so yea, it has its limitations in that regard, but the game play is really solid and the atmosphere is A+.
