Re: GTA V - releases September 17

Sick life for Rockstar. To most game companies MS says "no **** YOUR mother, you WILL make this game support our users who bought the no-HD consoles." For Grand Theft Auto, though...**** it, make them buy a 16gb USB stick.

meh, i'll prolly never use it, unless it moves a lot faster than i think it will.

so in the end, is there any benefit to preordering other than random dlc like a blimp in this case?

Re: GTA V - releases September 17

hmm it could just be an aussie thing, or a non-u.s. thing.

i know that after nba 2k was out for several months and the price was down to 49.99 in the stores, it was still 59.99 on psn.

the only problem of buying online is that we dont get the blueprint map.

Re: GTA V - releases September 17

some infro from - http://www.reddit.com/r/Games/commen...railer/cbof123

Quote:
Here's some neat info

There will be unique characters/missions only on MP that are not in SP
Characters from GTA V's single player will appear but will not be playable. (Not sure if this means the 3 main guys or side characters only or both)
GTA Online is set before the events from the single player story
"Everything you can do in GTA V, you can do in GTA Online."
Heists, Coop Missions, Gang Attacks, Death Matches, Races, Sports activites (golf, tennis, shooting range)
"Ambient Events" (holdups of delivery stores, armored van robberies, crate drops)
Import/Export vehicle missions are in
You can set a bounty on another player for another player to claim
Carrying cash around is dangerous because other people can kill you and take a portion of it from your dead body. You must deposit the cash into banks now to keep it safe.
You can invest into the stock market in GTA Online too
You can buy property in GTA Online
Betting on an outcome of competitive matches
Customize weapons, appearance, vehicles
Ability to create content and missions from basic tools that will eventually "grow and grow"

EDIT WITH MORE INFO:

When you talk through your headset, your in game character will move his lips to simulate talking as well
You can FINALLY hear what the other player is listening to on the radio when you're in the same car.
Removing a mask after robbing or performing a crime will get rid of your wanted level
You can shout into your headset when you're robbing a shopkeeper to which the in game a.i of the shopkeeper will respond to the urgency of your shouting. (More aggressive you are, more scared the NPC will be and fill the bag with money quicker)
The leader of the crew (the guy who did the hold up) can decide to split the cash between him and his crew members unevenly or fair
You can set your "mood" when at the beginning of GTA Online to let other players know how you feel (think facebook)
You can buy better cribs
Good cribs have their own private garages from 2 car size to 10 car size
Convertibles can have their tops pulled down or up
"RP Points" are mentioned in the video. Exp points most likely
If you create a mission, a blue dome called a "Corona" appears with your name, score, ranking (how many people liked it)
There's an ability to sort through missions
You can share your weapons, ammo, cash
Ability to stealth-kill (crouching behind enemies with one hit kills)
There are taunt animations. Flipping someone off was mentioned as one
"The Feed" is GTA Online's version of social networking (emails, texts etc.)
You can "insure" your car to replace it in case it gets blown up, stolen, etc.
If you leave your car on a street and head to the other side of the city, your car will still be there. It will not disappear unless it gets stolen or destroyed
Banks allows for 3 options "Pause, Withdraw, Transaction Log"
When you're in your crib, people can buzz your door for permission to come in. You can look through a CCTV camera to see who's buzzing and choose whether to let that person in or not.
Weasel News is on your cribs' TV. You can watch other people with certain wanted levels being chased by police.
TV Shows are back and watch-able on your TV.
Heists have "20 different components". One example is robbing a "Titan" airplane.
Some of the Jets can carry up to 10 people
There is an "ambient" soundtrack that plays during special moments . The example in the video was when they successfully took off with the Titan plane and a soundtrack played.
On the far West coast, it looks like there might be a small town that isn't part of Los Santos. In the video, they suggest it might be an industrial complex or small town.

I should note that I haven't read the thread or watched the video or anything so I'm not sure if any of that is confirmed or not, I'm just passing it along. Even if half of those dot points are true this game is going to be the untouchable game of this generation.

I'm probably an idiot, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy an xbox 360 solely for the purposes of this game. I've played virtually no games for the past few years (have a wii and an original xbox), but I spent a ton of time playing GTA Vice City and loved it. This game looks amazing.

Re: GTA V - releases September 17

oh sorry, i didnt mean the initial download of the game. i meant the loading before cut in scenes, switching between characters etc

i was reading some of the comments on rockstars page, and one guy was saying the loading with a digital copy would be noticably faster than the disc, and that the disc (any disc) burns out the laser inside the console that reads them or some ****. idk.

Re: GTA V - releases September 17

It seems like I am not the only person who finds themselves needing to purchase a console for the sole purpose of playing this game. I have gone through 2-3 ps3's due to the YLOD and even after fixing a couple, am not going through that process again to have it break in 2 months.

Going to try and figure out the best way to enjoy this game to the utmost in terms of 360 vs. ps3, disk vs. dl, etc.

Xbox 360 + GTA V + Xbox Live subscription: http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-250GB...xbox+360+250gb

That would be 290 for the system, 60 for game, and 45 for 12 months of Xbox live, and I would have pretty much 0 other games available to play for $395

PS3 GTA V Bundle: http://www.amazon.com/Grand-Theft-Au...dp_ob_title_vg

PS3 comes with GTA V on pre-order (and i could probably get some games from my brother) = $269

I am not really seeing what value I am gaining by going with the 360 and paying about 40% more overall vs. the ps3. However, if you purchase the disk, could you then opt to download the game instead?

Whoa, Larry, you blew my mind with the PS3 offer. I don't think I'm interested in online gaming (should I be?), so that looks perfect for me.

Re: GTA V - releases September 17

Online gaming is free on ps3, so if you want to GTA V online you are all set. There are also games you can download and play that are less than disc games, such as BF 1943 and Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix which are both between $10-$20 and a good time ime.

Don't forget if you sign up for the PSN network and pay the yearly fee you get two free games a month.
