I used to have it's rough equivalent for 360 and they were great for the price, imo.
If you're okay with wired and want to stick to $125, I would forget about paying extra for wireless and try to find the best wired set you can get. I don't have firsthand experience with that price range. I jumped from $60-75 headset to $250-300.
$125 was just a number I thru out there. I really have no idea on a good price for a headset. If I had to choose I guess, wireless would be safer so I don't trip on the cord and break ****.
I think Turtle Beach headsets sound noticeably worse than some other brands. You can still hear footsteps really well but they sound...weak, comparatively. I bought their most expensive wired and wireless and returned them both.
The Astro A-30's are nice, but the reason I took them back was because they don't fit over your ears because the cans are very small. If that doesn't bother you I would definitely say get those because they sound great.
I took the Astro A-40's back because the left side was noticeably louder than the right. A google search revealed that others have experienced this, and while there are some ways to fix it, none of them worked for me. They are the most comfortable headset I've ever worn though AINEC.
I settled on the Astro A-50's. They're wireless so they're are a tad heavier than the A-40's, but I didn't have the issue of one side being louder than the other and they sound great.
The other one I tested was the Tritton 720's (whichever one is ~$150) and while they sound better than the TB's I tried, they were very uncomfortable. I do have a larger than average head, but they really pinched in a lot so even if you have a small head I could see it being an issue. Plus they're made by Mad Catz who is notorious for putting out cheaply constructed products.
I know a lot of people love TB's but I tried their top of the line options, and have used my friend's which cost him low 100's and can say without a doubt the sound quality is lacking compared to the Astro line. Even the A-30's which are $139 I think sounded way better than the $289 and $279 TB's I tried.
I went nuts over a 3 day weekend trying all these out. Didn't want to return them because it was a huge hassle, but if I'm spending that much for a headset I wanted to get it right.
No complaints on the A-50's after using them for roughly three months now.
EdmondDantes84, ps3 camera also works as a mic. I use just the basic sony bluetooh earpiece mic. Works fine, just $36 on amazon.
Got my preorder set for midnight. I am curious, does this mean GTA Online wont be live till start of October. So this means the first two weeks GTAV will only have single player capability. Is that right?
