Ended up doing marathon sessions over the weekend. Driving with the keyboard was fine, much better than GTA 3. Never even connected my controller. Although I suck with the helicopter, so maybe I should try it.
Not quite 50% in (40+%, IIRC), but since I skipped many of the side missions, I'm likely over 50% of the main storyline.
Much more fun than GTA 4. Honestly, I don't even remember GTA 4, just that I was so bored of it, I never finished it.
EDIT: Just found an on-line checklist. There are 79 main story missions and I believe I have 33 left to go.
