Breathe man. Every game is like that.

Especially games with online modes. COD, halo, it's the same ****. Games like left for dead that the trailer looks so badass but it's boring. Same with assassin's Creed.

It's what you make of it. It's a lot about the lobby your in too.

I was on last night and trying to host some races which never got started because one person would join and then leave 30s later, was in free roam lobbies with about 3-4 people and it was boring as ****.

Then i switched lobbies till I found one with ~9 people, immediately started hunting players down and got into a 90 minute pitched battle with a group of 3 players. Had a 20 minute pitched battle in the docks among the cargo containers (assault shottie ftw) which lead to a high speed car chase to the beach where I fought them off until the ran away in a boat expect I chase them in a car and sniped them out of it.

This lead to them to 2 of coming after me in a helicopter to shoot me from the sky while the other tried to flank me on foot. I killed them all repeatedily

I used the remove from radar option a few times to sneak up on them and kill them. All of time the cops where on all of us.

Over the course of it they sent mercenaries after me, i had a backup chopper at one point. And through it all I got to hear their wails of horror, hate and vitriol.

Good times!

when in reality it's like you do about 20 missions and it gets super boring. you meet gerald and he says "steal the coke" "steal the meth" "steal the weed", eh ok ill just do the same **** over and over again.

then lester, same kind of thing, and martin, same thing. some of the missions are good obviously and im still enjoying the odd blast, but after a while it's like the same people, same missions, not many characters etc

in the trailer its like, yea meet all these new characters and open up new contacts and new missions and make it look as if it's immense when really its the same over and over. spawn with your car half a mile away, everybody drives to wherever you have to go, shoot a few guys, some noob gets popped, you do w/e has to be done and thats it. there's very little creative play and variety.

like career missions where absolutely sick, online doesn't even come close to the depth and quality of the single player missions. and think back to san andrea's, and all the mad stuff you could do, like learning fighting styles and robbing houses and turf wars and jet packs and working out and all the custom stuff you had.

this has not many clothes, a few tattoo's and yea stick a turbo in your car and stick some wheels on it, woo how amazing!!

nobody wants to play tennis, because it sucks, same with golf, go buy tiger woods, races are cool, but most ott you just get bashed by a few 10 year olds and lose.

the way you get into missions is a bit rubbish too, there's no flow and drive and sense of achievement, it's just hassle to find a decent mission that you don't end up getting kicked from.

then you get people killing you every 2 seconds and you lose money for it, people blowing your car up and running you over even if your passive mode.

or your driving down the street and the cops run you over and then come after you for it and start blasting you with shot guns, that's realistic!

i mean i like the game, and it's worth the money for sure given single player alone, and the first week of laughs (although that was mostly down to my mates not being able to play and raging epically in our party, threatening to do keepy ups with their xbox if it didnt work the next time they tried it)

but the video is misleading and im more upset with rockstar being idiots. this was supposed to be, and could have been, thee most epic game ever made and they did a half assed job and ballsed it up imo

everyone has got tired of waiting and being dissapointed with the fact that only a third of the game was released and now they have to wait for this and that, the game was delayed from march 2013, til september, then they said it wasnt gonna be next gen, then they said oh no online isnt for 2 weeks after launch, then it didnt ****ing work, then it turned out to be **** anyway

a bloody beach bum pack with a flipping buggy and a new gun isn't going to bring them back or change anyone's thoughts!! they have waited too long and ****ed people over too much

there was supposed to be tons of quality missions, heists, epic madness, lots of uniqueness and style, but instead its a bunch or repetitive missions and a few bits of clothing here and there with some crappy auto aim that ruins the combat and annoying characters like effin simeon ringing every 2 seconds. "you haven't forgotten about your old friend simeon, have you?" no unfortunately not, now **** off. why cant i block him!!?

ill not be getting GTA 6 and it makes me sad to say it i was the biggest gta fan ever in the history of man, but now R* have wanked all over me and i have to end the madness, they can stick the next game up their ass pipe

btw whats wrong with COD? I'm not one of those little kids who runs around with a bling bling gun spinning round and round in circles and screaming crap into the microphone.

It seems as though you need to be told what to do in order to have fun. If you're complaining about a lack of missions etc in online GTA than you're obviously never going get what most people enjoy about it in the first place. The online isn't disappointing at all for me and I definitely don't think Rockstar did a "half assed job and ballsed it up". That has to be one of the most ridiculous statements in this thread.

What's wrong with COD? Nothing if you enjoy doing the same thing over and over again.

The way I see it, GTA V offers something for people like you and others itt who like the anarchist free-for-all that online offers and for people like panther.

Personally, I like the freedom that I have in online but I also crave that structure of leveling up and doing races/missions/etc. If the running around and causing mayhem gets stale, I can switch to racing/missions/sports/etc and vice versa.

Sure there could be more varied missions and mini-games, but taken as a whole, GTA V is probably one of the greatest games of all time. There's just so much depth, so many nuances, so much detail to it.

Just in the single-player mode, it'd probably take hundreds of hours to do/experience/witness/etc all of the things that are possible in the game. Online play is just the icing on the cake. Sure, there have been issues, but w such a massive player base for online, those issues have to be a little bit expected. Obviously R* is trying to resolve the issues and not just sitting back and not doing anything.

to me, gta is more repetitive than COD. at first that may sound silly, but if you think about it, cod is more strategy.

you get into cat and mouse type battles with people and have to be smart and use tactics and adjust to the enemy team and stuff, in GTA everyone just runs about and auto aim headshots each other. you can't really use anything but an AR or you'll get creamed fairly easy.

for example, search and destroy has basically unlimited replay value if your into that kind of thing. you have intense rounds, with one life and there are tons of tactics and weapons to use and finally, the players are what make it the game it is. getting into wars with people makes the game great. I feel like in GTA, im either doing a mission vs AI, that is repetitive, or I'm doing a race, which is good fun sometimes, but annoying a lot of the other times and there isn't much skill, with all the variance in crashes and slip stream and catch up in 99% of races.

or else a death match, as I said, pretty meh, no real dynamic or replay ability, just a lot people with AR's looking to get lucky in a match.

the last team standing is something i have started to play a bit more, those can get fun when you know the tactics and you get a lobby of people who wanna replay them a lot, but they're only 1 round which is too little imo.

If they turned auto aim off, made it 4 rounds and the winners got good prizes, then it would be a good, skillful intense match with some depth to it. instead you show up on the radar for a good while, everybody runs in, gets smoked, the game ends and everyone quits to free roam or votes for a race.

the parachuting is fun the first few times, then it just gets pointless, i think that is obvious to us all.

and that's pretty much it

GTA 4 game modes are a lot better than GTA 5 modes. Turf wars and cops and crooks where some of the best game modes i've ever played in any game ever. I had some amazing times in those lobbies and as of yet all I have had is rage and disappointment in the GTA 5 lobbies, with the occasional meh moments.

someone on youtube also nailed it pretty well, they said R* have just tried too hard and focused on volume of stuff and not quality. Instead of making a deep re-playable game, they strapped together a few modes and seemingly didn't take any time to think about making online long lasting.

If they took auto aim off in all modes, made lobbies for games where you can only use certain guns (pistol only, shotgun only etc), made a better system to match make, like include a feature where you can party up and enter games, instead of having to host because nobody seems to join my games, but the games i join are always full, and make lobbies where you join to do things over again, like a death match lobby, where only death matches run, or a mission lobby, where only missions run and a way to switch quickly between lobbies with your party, then made the game modes a bit more skill based and deep, put turf wars and cops and crooks in, added heists and the content creator on day one (but to be unlocked at like level 50 or something), and changed the depth and rules of LTS and then the game would be 100 times better and people would play it for a long long time.

You pretty much just proved my point though. You need to be told what to do to have fun. GTA online is all about free roam for me. I might do a race here and there but 90% of my time is spent in free roam with friends creating our own fun. COD being less repetitive was great though. COD is a competitive FPS, strategy for both games is going to be fairly different. TDM was always going to be average in GTA. Heists and content creator are on the way.

I agree that they should have brought back some of GTA 4's online. Pretty much everything you listed about GTA 4 would be great in 5. Just having free roam lobbies with custom gun spawns be awesome.

I have tried everything I can think of, including hiding myself on the radar and landing a few stickies before being taken out.?

Is there a tank in the base to steal?

I fancy running riot in one!

im mad that they spent 5 years making it and then got it wrong, when its actually easy enough to get it right in the first place imo. it's not rocket science, if you they just look at the big franchises that thrive in the industry, they would see that replay ability is a massive component to a successful online game.

yea i guess the tdm was always going to be average, i think the reason gta 4 beats gta 5 in those area's is because the aiming isn't assisted so there is more skill and sense of accomplishment for each kill. but the other game modes like turf wars definitely had a massive impact on the quality of the game play imo

the really failed to deliver the full package in the online play this time around imo

They didnt set out to make a successful online game. they set out to make the best single player game of all time (and in most people's estimation succeed.) The online component was important, sure, but there is no way that it was anywhere near the top of their list on what they needed to do best. Therefore, the fact that they made a very deep and interesting online experience to go along with the astounding amount of work they put into the single player game is above and beyond what we should have been able to expect.

The fact is, you are acting incredibly spoiled, saying that you wont consider buying the next game in the franchise because every single part of the multiplayer experience (which isn't completed yet) hasnt lived up to your lofty expectations. Most people have gotten a 200+ hour game for 60 bucks and are drooling over it. You are being a man-child who can't be happy with the mound of ambrosia because it isnt covered in gold sauce.

As to the bold above, it couldn't be farther from the truth, Ive been playing this game for over a month now and there is nothing in it that I would consider Rockstar to have gotten wrong (I grant a small exception for the online launch, but such large technology launches are almost always buggy, and Rockstar patched their issues very quickly)

Couple ways I've heard of but not tried;
Calling the mugger will jack the driver out, hide from radar nearby and follow up
Sniping at the gap between hatch and tank sometimes works
Strap several stickies to your car and scream allah akhbar
Keep driving your car at him so he gets tossed into bad sports

As for stealing one, there's a way for 4+ people to take one that looks great fun to try, can't post youtubes tho cos at work
