No it isn't. Not only would anyone with even a hint of experience with these kinds of launches know that what is currently happening would happen, but Rockstar also warned about it beforehand. I figured that warning was pretty 'well, ldo!', but I guess it wasn't...
Every single major online game in history have had issues - we're talking about the best selling game of all time that didn't even have online as its main focus and I'm supposed to believe some people didn't understand this would initially be a dumpster fire?
GTA Online is currently basically a beta (if not alpha)-test - I honestly don't see how anyone can be surprised, frustrated or annoyed at this. It was obvious this would happen all along.
FTR, I haven't even tried to get online yet as I do not enjoy being a beta-tester. I'm having a ton of fun with single player and will try online as soon as it's up and running. Meanwhile, I'm leaving the head-against-wall-banging to those who seem to get some masochistic enjoyment out of it.
