Its because the cloud is down, your best bet is to not create a new character since it will just be deleted. Or if you do make another character, use the other character slot.

GTAO in unbelievably tilting, think i've managed one whole hour of play since Tuesday!

Starting to get pretty hacked off with the whole thing, having to make a new ****ING character every time is just a joke!

servers are probably still not saving anything I wouldn't bother with online at all today--or for a week.

now at 8 forced dashboards from the single player mode thanks to the update for me (tho it seems it's a total YMMV). I'm really getting annoyed.

rockstar released this statement a few hours ago..

We're currently working on a title update for both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 to address commonly reported issues with GTA Online. We hope to have it out for download as soon as tomorrow

any it guys in here know why this could be happening to everyone? is it simply an overload of players trying to get on, and their servers being unable to handle all the traffic?

My problems so far:

Every car I drive won't go fast even though the trigger is pushed all the way down. Imagine getting away from cops with 3 stars going about 30-40 mph

I'm playing with my friends and after we finish a mission or activity it separates us and throws us in different servers. It then takes another 10 mins to join my friends session in progress or vice versa.

It won't auto save anything so you have to pause it and click leave gta online or else your progress is gone

I'm tired of ppl putting bounties on my head and stealing my car so it gets impounded.

So stupidly I pulled out of the pisswasser stock prior to the supposed sell off but just reinvested into hal. I guess for people who beat the game prior to the pump and dump scheming became instant billionaires. Anyone strike it rich and bought the golf course.
Ps. For whoever asked for a website to track the stocks. It does exists. Check out one of the buzz feed articles posted within he past day. For some reason I can't find it again.

Guys its not working. Even if you get in on the 100th attempt its not gonna save your progress or its gonna crash at some point. Just give up and wait for it to be fixed.

I got to level 18 online yesterday and bought a small garage so I could get that awesome free car. I booted up online (and it started despite the servers being down- playing alone online) and my guy was only on rank 5, but I had my car... not sure what that means. Hopefully I get my guy back at 18 when the server is fixed.

I played for like 5+ hours last night and turned off the console 2-3 times. Restarted and character was 100% saved.

EDIT: Have not tried today.

lol letting people repeat the same mission over and over is ridiculous

There are people setting missions to easy and repeating them every 2-3 minutes, making 100k+ per hour. The game's entire economy is turned upside down unless they make a change.
