Haha yeah, the one time I've come close, a cop pulled me out of my car, and another shot me in the head.

I kind of want to play this game, but I don't have an HDtv so I don't want to play it without it being in HD. I've been looking at tvs, but I don't really know if I want to spend $500+ on a tv.

Just play it. Honestly, the game is great overall..but if "HD" really matters to you...

Then get a smaller HDTV and spend less. I saw a 24 inch 1080p Vizio "smart TV" on clearance for $140 at Target other day. I'm sure it's not the best but still, at that price if you don't have an HDTV, why not get that for your room?

Depending on your monitor you could use that too.

I only have 1 hookup for my tv. I've been considering an upgrade for a few months since my current tv is almost 10 years old.

My preference is something >32" and 120Hz.

A friend of mine told me to wait until Black Friday, but that's still 2 months away.

I might be able to use my monitor. It has a 2nd HDMI port. I'll have to go buy an HDMI cable, I'm not sure what happened with my other one. I may have left it at my parent's house, but if I'm able to get my PS3 through my monitor I'll be going out to buy this game.

Anything over 32" for vidya games is bad imo.

FWIW, my hdtv stopped working a few days before I got the game.

Been playing on a 720p monitor (or so says my buddy who loaned it to me. I haven't checked. Is 720p even a thing with monitors lol) and the game still looks good.

Just play it. Worst case you set it aside until you get a new tv. You know you're getting it eventually anyway..

I've never been busted, either. I wouldn't advise intentionally getting busted out of curiosity, either. AFAIK, you lose all of your ammo.

The game only runs at 720p, so you're not missing anything by playing it on a 720p screen

I was going to ask about this. I'm playing it on the PS3. I noticed in the ps3 settings that it is running at 1080p. Does this mean the game is being upscaled to 1080p? I've yet to find a way to change this.

I'm not sure what you mean by ps3 settings but i believe my tv goes from 1080p to 720p when the game launches which means that it runs at 720p

Getting a 120 Hz TV won't do anything for this game either. It runs 30 fps at best. Could be wrong but unless you're also using it as a computer monitor I don 't see the benefit of 120 Hz over 60 Hz.

Ok here's one potential benefit. The timing of the frames for movies filmed at 24fps should be more accurate with a 120 Hz TV than 60 Hz because 24 divides evenly into 120 but not 60. I think that's what the 3:2 pulldown thing is all about and a 120 Hz TV wouldn't have to do that. You should probably ignore this type of minutiae if $500+ is a strain on your budget though.

basically no console games run at 1080p. Even next gen games will still be 720p at the start.

naw disagree, sometimes it's tough playing shooters on a big tv but for games like this or something more casual i love playing on a big TV

i doubt the monitor is capable of only 720 horizontal pixel lines but i haven't looked at smaller sized monitors in a long time, i would imagine you could at least get 1600x900 now even on a sub 20" monitor. i hooked my xbox up to my 1920x1200 monitor and it looks pretty gross, it's like watching SD tv on a HD tv

My tv is 1080p and had my ps3 settings to just that, and this game would screw up my fonts on the xmb and notifications while playing, until I changed video settings to 720p and 1080p. I'm not sure if it is even upscaled. Only game that has done this.

Anyone know if one can still get 100% complete if we don't complete all missions from the choices we make in the game? For example, choosing the "loud" option for the second heist opens up the "Carbine Rifles" mission, which would not be availble if you chose the "smart" option.

Ya, Bawsaq requires u to be connected to xbox live or PSN to access it. And from what I saw so far, all of the stock tips are on bawsaq.

Confirmed you lose your ammo when busted, got one star and cop walked over to me, planned on settling it like men but when he got near I just got the busted alert. Even emptied the petrol from my jerry can. So if you see a cop just shoot him.

Sorry if this has been posted but this is pretty ****ing cool.

A professional photographer used the game's camera to take beautiful pictures of the GTA world.

Some highlights...

Spoiler:
I noticed that too and when I checked IMDB he had no credit for the episode, so I assumed it was just a guy that looked a lot like him.
