I don't play games much anymore, but I'll be picking GTA V for sure. Have played the series since the first one.







It's hard to believe it all started with this. Obviously this was all f'ing awesome when it came out way back then.

I feel like I won't do many missions at first. All I'm going to wanna do is explore!!

I was scheduling an appointment a couple days ago and the person I was talking to suggested the 17th - I was like "wait, why does that date sound familiar? am I busy that day??"

As it turns out, yes, yes I am.

I remember I was a freshman in college when GTA 3 came out. There was only a little bit of hype on the game -- of course, this was still back in the day when I got my gaming info from magazines as my dial-up internet connection and IGN's website in 2001 weren't quite the information resource we have online today.

I just knew the idea of taking that top down game and making it 3D was going to be awesome. Open-world 3D games basically didn't exist for the most part. I preordered the game -- the first and only game I've ever preordered. I remember going to pick it up and seeing that there was only one other name of the preorder list for it. It just wasn't a big deal when it first came out.

Within a few hours of playing the game in my dorm, I had at least 10 guys in there waiting for their turn to play, including people I'd barely talked to. Word just got around fast at this incredible game where you could literally **** around for hours getting into police chases and killing cops and civilians. GTA 3 hasn't dated that well, as open-world games are now the norm, but it was truly groundbreaking when it came out.

I skipped GTA IV but I'm going to pick up GTA V. San Andreas was the last game I played before I got into poker, where I then lost interest in video games. I have grad school, work, a fiance, and a dog that all command my time, but I'm going to have to find time to squeeze this game in. It just looks too amazing.

GTA 3 was the nuts, I agree. I remember shagging a hooker in a van and laughing so hard I could hardly breath (I was like 10 lol)

my friend asked me to go to a midnight release with her so she doesnt have to go alone, does anyone know how brutal the wait will be and/or how early we should go?

if its an insane wait period, theres no chance im going.

The two I've gone to went pretty quickly.

I'm pretty sure Gamestop groups you by when you've purchased your pre order, so it's not like kids can just camp out and make you wait.

Check the receipt or ask someone when you show up to see where you are in line.

said she preordered online, but they didnt charge her for it yet. what kind of receipt / proof would she be able to show to speed things up? maybe theyll just ask her name to prove she has a preorder at that location? we've never done this before.

Haven't done it online so would rather not speculate.

But I do know you can easily show up ~15 minutes early and squat pretty close to the front and only have to wait 5-10 minutes tops.

Even if her name shows she shoulda been last in line which seems unlikely, once you're at the counter all they care about is getting you through as quickly as possible so they can go home.

Here's a short gameplay video, just driving. It's filmed with a potato but the framerate appears to be solid. I can't wait.

Not gonna lie but I did not even think of doing this as I was like a child when I got to my mates house.

Got home just gone 4am and got 2 hours sleep. I am sat at my desk at work now and am battling not to fall asleep.

However it was worth it. I will not go into too much detail as I will spoil it for others. Just a few things to note is that gunfights are a lot smoother than before and driving is LOL awesome. We spent the first hour just driving around the map.
