I don't know that I learned the cities in GTA3-VC all that much better though. It's difficult to get a handle on such a large virtual space.
You probably did but don't remember them now I'd say, the first maps were tiny compared to SA onwards. I remember playing SA for the first time and cruising around Los Santos for a bit, then opening the map and seeing how much of it was still hidden, was a
moment.
I would be keep the map as it'll likely be too big to learn every route etc (and nothings stopping you from not setting a waypoint anyway), but turn off red dots for enemies. As the author of the article I read stated, gunfights could get repetitive when you knew exactly where they were and how many were left, doesn't look like that's gonna happen though.
