Just finished the main second big boss fight in midgard (sp). It was a fun fight but I was wondering can you turn off the checkpoint aspect of boss fights? They also told you how to beat him during the fight which was kind of lol and took away a bit from the fight, but it was still a cool battle.
haven't played a video game in a while (never played a God of War), but my ankle is f'd up and the girlfriend is away for the weekend so I'm going to buy and DL this now.
Very much like all the Souls people saying the game is awesome
edit: file is only 45GB? Seems smaller than a lot of the big games I've dl'd.
Easily taken the record for fastest selling Sony PS4 game yet:
I need to get back to it, I paused at a sensible moment when the story was "between acts" sort of time, which in hindsight was a bad idea making it easier than it otherwise would be to not resume right away lol.
Beat the game after taking ~a week off not really knowing I was just an hour or two from the end - fantastic experience but I do kinda want to lol at the 10/10 ratings, come on, it has some flaws. One of the early reviews was like "this is a game every human needs to experience" - gonna go with, no, this is not The Holy Grail Of Games As Art.
I am getting close to beating it (Jotunheim tower Between the Realms) so I can't give a full opinion on it yet, but I can say it is definitely not a 10/10 game at all. It is a very solid game though (I'd say around 7.5 to 8.0 out of 10 but I haven't finished it yet so holding off on final grade).
The boss fights are cool, but I'm probably 40% of the way through and some of the other fights are starting to get repetitive and easy- think I should up the difficulty from 2 to 3

I found the game a lot easier as I progressed. I wonder if they just try to balance the game for the average player (at any difficulty) in a way that people who do all the side quests and get upgraded, powerful items become OP compared to the enemies you're fighting.
Like, I posted towards the start about some fights taking me 30-45 minutes - the later I got in the game, the rarer it seemed to happen that I'd even die at all.
I just finished it on the 2nd difficulty which I imagine is normal. Seasoned gamers will find it fairly easy after you unlock a few things and get just a little bit of gear. My overall grade for it is bumped down just a tad at 7 out of 10. It's got several really good things going for it as well as a few things I am very disappointed with. I would definitely recommend it to people to try. Time to either find a new game or do a 2nd playthrough to do more side quests etc.
I kinda wish I'd have bumped the difficulty up from normal to hard, probably when first discovering Alfheim I guess would be a good point. Too late now, still considering a go on the very hard difficulty (Give me God of War) once it's complete.

Yeah I played it at give me a challenge and it was very hard at the beginning but got doable after ~8 hours. But I did the Valkyries after finishing the main story and they were pretty hard. I've tried the Valkyrie queen a couple of times and she's really hard.
I played for like 8-10 hours last weekend expecting to get halfway, but instead it seems like the world just opened up to be an order of magnitude bigger than I expected. Don't really know yet though of course, so TBD from me.
Checkpoints between every fight make the game feel somewhat disjointed
Hordes of enemies just take too long -- The basic enemies should not take 15 hits for the light ones and 25-30 hits for the heavy ones.
Spamming axe throws seems to do about as much damage as close combat

But it's very, very good.

I enjoy his reviews but probably not in the way the reviewer intended.
His dark souls and witcher reviews are worth a view. Mileage may vary a lot.
No idea how far along I am. I've been taking my time, not deviating from 3rd difficulty setting so some fights have taken me 15-20 tries (I hate the nightmares so much).
I do like the combat a lot, I think they went a little overboard with equipment/upgrades/customizing etc. I spend so much time on the combat and fighting that I rarely want to put any time into figuring out the equipment and blacksmith pages.
