I'm going to give this game another try. I have no expectations.

Right now, I don't like having the building on the F keys. It's too far for my fingers when I need to be quick. Looks like people mainly only use wood so I feel like I only need to change one setting.

Any recommendations for a keyboard setup? And, what about where to place the building material for F1?

Is it recommended to use a controller instead?

I feel like i'm a pretty quick builder and for the most part I use mouse buttons

wall - mwheelup
ramp - mwheeldown
floor - mouse 5 (side button)

the hut roof thing I barely use so it's binded to C or something.

For someone still learning/improving, I much prefer Blitz mode to Regular mode. Almost always start out with a gun, and get into battles much quicker.

I think it depends on what you're trying to learn though too. I do think blitz is fun though as well.

Interesting read on why fortnite accounts are so easy to hack. Main moral of the story, don’t reuse passwords ffs.

I've been using the mouse wheel more often now to switch between building, but it still seems too slow. Some of those guys are so fast building structures and barriers. I can't even seem to get the right wall in place when I get shot at.

I've been playing regular mode and trying to jump away from people. I usually end up facing 1 or 2, but then I'll be alone. It's fun to run around and find guns and other loot. I spend most of the game just trying to learn and end up with 1 or 2 kills. Every now and then I'll build up some wood and then just try to quickly build a ramp or something to practice building.

And if you just take your time staying in front of the storm, you can easily place into the Top 10.

I don't see too much progression, though, unless you buy that gold battle pass.

I’ve never played PUBG but I’m feeling like I’d appreciate the survivalist aspect more so then what Fortnite has evolved into. Right now, people are willing to ruin an entire match for an attempt at pointess kills. It’s so weird how people play this game sometimes.

I'm ****ing ass at this game, but I'm having so much ****ing fun playing. Invite me if you don't mind playing with a ****lord (i'm getting better - only been playing for 2 days).

When do you guys like to jump off the bus? I find I have better results and get better loot if I wait until nearly the end.

Squads are way more fun than solo. Have 3 dubs in squads with friends. Still zero solo wins. About 3 or 4 2nds and a dozen + top 10s.

Building on console blows ass.

I love trolling people at clock tower. This has worked for me mostly in squad.

1. This works mainly against noobs. Land on the ledge on top. Crouch down,go in, and grab the gun before the enemy is able to break through the roof. Sit back and get an easy 1-2 kills.

2. If you are late getting there, drop down to the middle section ledge and break the wall. Grab the gun and most of the time the enemy coming from top won't be expecting you to be sitting there.

3. This is the funnest and trolliest. It might even be a little OP. If you see 2 or 3 guys going to clock tower, drop down to the bottom and break the 4 walls. Everyone is busy looting so you wont be noticed. Watch your 2-3 opponents fall to their deaths. Ive even mined 2 people to death after they dropped without being noticed.

I can't seem to find a good set of hotkeys that feel natural for building. I have no idea how some people just build highways of ramps and platforms so fast. I can barely build one wall. I'm always tripping over my fingers trying to figure out what feels right.

I suck but maybe my hotkeys work for you? I have wall on Q, ramp on F and floor on C and V because I can't hit the right one of them reliably enough.
