Pretty much. Skins are cosmetic so no pay to win.

I have finished top 2-5 4x in 22 games so far. Do I really need to learn how to build to actually win? So far I've had the most success just sneaking up on people and outgunning them when we get into a shootout.

This game is a building Battle Royale more than a shooting Battle Royale. At least in the end game. Sucks but that’s what it’s become which I think is what Epic intended. Aside from crazy build fights, build a wall or 2 and a ramp or 2. That’s really all you need. Quick 1x1’s 3 stories high are next!!

People are really good now, it’s hard to win a solo without being a decent builder. Almost impossible to win duo or squad without building

There is no tutorial and being pretty new to these type of games. What is best way to get better quick on xbox? I play mostly squads with people I know, including one person who is pro level. I obviously get some tips and information from him but the separation is enormous and I just figured I'd see if there were any good suggestions to improve quicker or if there are any equipment or scripts which can be bought to move me in the right direction.

Check out Sancho West’s YouTube channel. He’s really good at explaining higher level concepts, whether he can do them or not. Beginners as well. He’s a PS4 player but the ideas are universal.

If they ever add ladder matchmaking you will probably want to learn how to build. Everyone will immediately build if the game is full of good players. You'll probably run into a brick wall.

I've won some squad matches with very little building. I've also seen some pretty sophisticated stuff in the endgame. If some bad players make it to the end you might get by without being able to build. Skilled players who can build seem to have a massive advantage at the end. That's the beauty of this game.

Just sneaking up is kind of banking on luck..

I'm not so sure about that. I have a 12% win rate over around 200 solos.

I don't build well at all - especially in the heat of the moment. I've always played Call of Duty and other FPS, so adapting to something where you have other utilities other than your gun takes getting used to.

I can build a 1x1 3 high fort fairly quickly, but I suck at anything more substantial.

The End-game for me is more about positioning on the Map. If you have a good shot, then you can usually 1-2 shot them with a pump or Tac shotgun, so if you can get them out of their base and into the open it's yours for the taking.

I hear you but with the bloom and general shooting inconsistencies, it’s hard to consider a shooter as much. And I got that from a friend with a 1200 wins and about a 45% win rate. It’s a completely different game from solos to duos to squads though. Solos are actually fairly easy if you have good positioning.

I’m not a good builder either but I can also do the 1x1 3 high fairly quick. I’ve been getting better with defensive building overall but my offensive building is bad when the 2 need to be mixed. And I’m learning that games in general are positioning more then anything else. I have great aim but my awareness is meh but it’s improving. I win often enough but so many losses are from on something stupid I did.

I'm shocked with how much money that guy is pulling in. Hes legit pulling in pewdiepie money at the moment, and last time I saw him he was some halo streamer with 100 viewers. Equally shocked at how badly he wrecks everyone.

I "quit" this game probably 3 times since it came out. For a couple weeks at a time. But I still like watching good players play. Not really into watching PC players play it though. Its just feels so... mechanical. Its like an analog vs digital thing between console and PC. PC players can make much crazier and more creative plays, but a squad wipe on console feels more satisfying. Don't know if that makes sense....

Not to start a console vs PC debate but completely agree.
