I played like 5 games and was inspired to go back and play some more Titanfall 2, which I have to say was pretty underrated as an FPS. Not tactically oriented but so many crazy ass moments per match between escapes, blowing up titans, grappling around, etc.
Just finished #2 in a game and I barely had to do anything. I started at a far edge of the map and just crept my way along, staying just ahead of the shield. I was running through the shield at one point and was getting shot from someone further back than me. Turned around and killed him.
Then just kept going and got up behind someone who wasn't watching. He had a big arsenal included a sniper. Started shooting at someone and got 3 hits in, but they got out of the way. Wasn't sure where the last person was so I left my high ground and and started creeping down the the hill sideways. Then they started shooting me and I didn't have enough health to turn and run. I would have definitely been able to snipe them if I saw them from my original spot.
Oh well. #2 is pretty good for my 6th or 7th match.
I know it's RNG but in all the matches I've played of this, I've only ever gotten a sniper rifle once. And 90% of my deaths have been to sniper rifles. I just can't find any.
on the map there's always a white circle (this is the eventual safe area) and a blue circle (this is the edge of the storm). Outside the blue circle is shaded purple, if you're here you will take damage at 2hp/s ish, ignoring shields. If you're outside of the current/future safe area, there's a white line on the minimap showing shortest line to the safe area.
The timer ticks down, when it hits zero the blue starts slowly moving inwards until it hits the white. A new smaller safe area is randomly decided within the current one, and the timer ticks down again.
It really is random. Don’t make the mistake I did in assuming it'll center on the previous circle, because it won’t.
Note that the first timer is the countdown timer until the storm starts moving, and the next timer that starts afterwards is how long until the storm reaches its destination and starts a new countdown timer.
So timers cycle between the storm waiting to move, and the storm moving, back and forth.
Got my duos umbrella in second game. Still trying to get my solo umbrella, have a few 2nd place finishes but can't seal the deal. Really good at getting to the end but I suck at engame confrontations because I'm usually just camping the entire game (not looting) so I'm outgunned (plus my aim is ass)
Assuming you have at minimum a white AR and a decent amount of ammo I think an optimal round is not engaging at all until final 2. Only way I'm shooting at people is if I'm shot at first or I'm in dire need of a ranged weapon.
Yeah a lot of my better finishes are just grabbing some weapons early and then hiding out - only incentive to getting into gun battles is for more loot. Camping and watching is surprisingly fun.
yup killing people just isn't important in this game.
I'd actually argue that even if you were 100% assured to not lose a shred of health, giving up your position + loss of ammo makes shooting someone -EV (assuming they aren't fully stocked on orange guns and meds). Once you factor in the likelihood of losing health in any gun battle, staying in your house or bush becomes a complete no brainer.
I guess if you're last man alive for your team in a squad game you should be a bit more aggressive in 1v1 situations (when other teams get separated) just to avoid an endgame 1v4 or something (when teams regroup at the end)
