happens to me too, pretty annoying. i keep a few decent backups that fit into my main squad so i dont have to buy injury cards. get at least a CM, CB, and a ST. if you have enough backups you can just rotate them in and wont have to play with your 2nd team that often.

i played around with it a little and didnt notice much of a difference. OTOH, "Instructions" works really well. i set the 3 CMs to "Stay back while attacking". they all cover well on D and still all get forward in build-up play.
i set both STs to "stay central", one to "get in behind", leave the other to default, and my CAM to "free roam". make sure you press A when you're done with a player, if you press B it doesnt save the changes.
finished this team Monday and lost all motivation to trade.
