Yeah ps3. I mean it says my firewall is open on the homescreen and I still have all my ports setup from fifa 11 so should work. Maybe it's just late at night or something. There can't be that many people that have the game already so maybe just not enough available players.

lol if your playing ultimate team, easily the most unskillfull game mode i've played on fifa for years. Yes i am winning a lot more than losing but the gameplay is absolutely awful can't believe just how bad they have messed it up. In 15 + games don't think either team has kept a clean sheet thus far, basically get the ball with any player no matter how **** hold shoot within 30 yards and watch the ball fly in top corner.

If you ever boosted a pro offline with with all the sliders up on shooting thats exactly what FUT feels like with anyone this year no matter how bad they are.

Going to play a few H2H now and hopefully will find them better, if not i will be sticking with fifa 12.

ea suck so bad, Take out the best parts of madden then ruin fifa as well. oh well early pass saved me buying two games that have been ruined this year.

My recollection of UT last year was nobody ever kept a clean sheet, every match was 3-3+ so doesn't seem to be any different? UT was always arcade mode.

On UT last year i probably averaged < 0.5 goals conceded per game. Would often go 3+ games in a row without conceding. On this one most my matches are having 6+ goals it really is just stupid.

H2H seems a little better but not a whole lot i still scored/conceded screamers with midfielders from far out.

Lets address a few things...

#1, Lets drop the lol UT snobbery, or for that matter the manual control snobbery. We play what we play, you play what you play, deal with it, I remember the same debate last year and it was boring then too. Playing a more authentic style doesnt make you better than the next guy.

#2, UT vs H2H, IMO H2H is practically unplayable. I genuinely lol'd when I read a couple of posts up that H2H was better... Im not sure if said poster is trolling. FUT is def ruined by the shooting, but at least you can get a shot off. Basically FUT = Nerfed everything + Over-Powered shooting. H2H = Nerfed EVERYTHING. The whole game is just one big variance fest.

#3, Major connection problems. H2H there was about 50% connection success rate, the rest of the time stuck in arena, had to restart game every time, no time-out inside 30 minutes. FUT is def way better in this area, havent had this happen once yet, but many games end half way through because of servers, havent been given a defeat yet though, but whilst winning I havent had the win either, get coins for the game + players lose contracts. Also had 5 crashes of the PS3 since last night.

I just revamped my team (city) formation and went back to the formation I used with them last season in Seasons and I just owned my last two opponents.

One of them went Chelsea and played one up front v my 4 defenders who have been instructed not to move forward lol. Gl with that. 2-0.

Next I play barca who because of their attacking style spend a lot of time in my half but they just struggle to get a shot away. 4-1 by 63mins then he quit. Easy game

Like last season, spend time working out a good formation. Play to your strengths whether that's dribbling, counter attacking, going narrow or down the sides and just stick to it.

Continually calling more control over what happens on the pitch more variance is pretty amazing.

Sorry all your cheap ways of playing aren't working this year, deal with it brah.

Having the CPU automatically give you perfect control of the ball, make perfect passes and aim your shots on target isn't "more control" just because it is easier/what you want.

Still wondering how we have MORE control though. AFAIK youve just agreed that we have less control, no more accurate passing, shooting, control, dribbling etc.

This has nothing to do with manual /assisted and I've made zero reference to the fact I play manual. You are the one that keeps bringing it up.

EA has added more skill to the game by adding first touch and making it harder to ping pong pass. More skill not more variance or whatever you are spewing about.

fwiw I feel like there was always way too little variance with dribbling in FIFA (although the weird collision engine in 12 provided some), in actual soccer a ton of goals are scored from weird bounces/random chaos around/in the box, mediocre players sometime hit amazing shots and even messi makes numerous bad touches every game.

Maybe they should make it one button controls where every shot goes in. TOTAL CONTROL

You dont have to type the words for it to be blatantly clear what you mean. It was the same thing last year. Just by making silly comments its pretty obvious what you mean. Like thumbung up a pretty ******ed lol FUTers comment, or saying "you cant use your cheap tricks any more". FYI I spend 90% of my FUT time trying to score a fantastic goal, using all the skill moves as well as acrobatic volleys etc. I dont play sweaty pretty much ever, if you knew that you wouldnt spout such tripe in my direction about "cheap play".


95% of the field plays with assisted controls, there is an option there for the people that want to play manually. Making the entire game more like a manual game isnt good news IMO.

And actually using ping pong passing is now a very good way to offset the first touch problems. If you pass it off 1st touch, you dont get any problems and the pass is usually pretty decent.

The variance I am talking about comes from dribbling, 1st touch and shooting mainly. Occassionally a pass will go wildly astray but passing is still pretty much as it was.

Yes I get that we have more control in terms of we have to affect the play more ourselves.

BUT...

Theres a huge amount in first touch, dribbling/jostling, shooting that we just cannot control. This is the variance and it is huge. Or are you saying that we have complete control over these things? If so Im questioning whether youve even played the game.

This is the crux of it, there are those that want the game to get as realistic as possible, and those that want it to remain a computer game. Personally I think there has to be some balance, if we just had a game that completely resembled real life football it would be incredibly boring.

Game is definitely tilting right now but the scope of possible skill is there more than ever. FIFA 12 was easy to catch on quickly for certain type of players who like to dribble and contain on defense. FIFA 13 it seems tactics and adjusting to your opponent is highly more important.

I guess it's just difficult to go from being a elite div 1 player to breaking even in the first 15-20 games of the new release, but I imagine that's how it was when I first started playing previous additions every single year.

Also it's worth mentioning that most people were playing are going to be div 1 players so the variance will definitely be high. In October it's going to be the usual slaughter in the lower divisions once everyone gets the game. Obviously it's going to help improve if you're grinding against elite gamers game after game, but games against total noobs is where the real exploits (best way to score, plus larger sample of scoring chances) start to show.
