Same question basically. What is the best deal? What is the adidas all star team exactly? I know who is on it but is it a team you can play with in exhibitions or you get them in FUT or what?

Apparently its not related to UT at all. I guess it's more like the World XI and whatever that other classic team was in Fifa 12 you can only use them offline.

Never even heard of the all star team. Then again I never play it offline so that may be why.

Def missing FUT, especially with players moving etc, it gets you wanting to build a new team.

Once again Im guessing I wont be able to use wingers in the 4222 or 4231, and once again Im guessing there will be no CDM in the 4321 or 433. So we will all be 'making do' with crap formations and not being able to use our favourite players again.

We could always use noob 41212 with the worste build up play, wasted wingers and predictable 1-2 abusing forwards. Still, its the most expensive formation card so it must be the best formation, lol

Yeah I pretty much hate all formations. 41212 the wide men are useless, 4222 i always get stuck cuz there is nobody in the central areas to connect with. never could manage to get 4231 to work well for me, so 4321 it is then.

I had mixed results with 4222. Your 2 CAMs have to be really good dribblers and passers, but against certain opponents/formations I just got completely shut down using it.

442 is actually the most effective one in the game IMO.

4312 is goat in my experience

For me 4222 >>>>>the rest.

4312 and 4321 both leave the game way too stretched and along with 442, the big gap between defence and midfield leaves you wide open. The front 3 stay up top, the back 4 sit, and the midfield 3 are often by-passed, or left in no-mans-land.

I went through a spell January - April of making all sorts of different teams, using all the different formations and my winrate dropped significantly, each formation would start off nicely, then the gaping holes would start to show. When I switched back to the 4222 I started to win way way more games than I ever have before. I reckon my winrate over the last 200 games was ~10:1.

The 4321 would be a good formation if you could have a CDM, then it would be pretty much ideal. What I did find out about 4321 though is a 4321 with Ronaldo/Robben is far far different to a 4321 with say Lavezzi and Hulk for example. Ronaldo is just a complete sicko its not even fair. He is the difference is close games more often than not.


It wouldnt even take much for them to implement using wingers in the 4222 or 4231. Its as simple as making a version 2 of a few formations, just like they do in regular mode. Another way is to release different versions of players who IRL play multiple positions.

Yeh i agree i tried out a ton of formations and 4222 was by far the best for me (think i changed to it and made a Brazilian team on your advice and went from struggling with a awful 4231 German team to crushing). I did well with others, 352 was also good but it was hard to be balanced, always seemed a little too defensive or a little too attacking.

I had some sick unbeaten streaks with 4222 epl and serie a/brazil teams, and considering how easy it is to score in UT would keep a large amount of clean sheets as well.

Also agree the main thing that annoyed me with 4222 was having to play CAMs in spots that were ideal for wingers, wasn't that much of a prob with brazilian/serie a teams but in the prem some of the wingers would of def been upgrades on the CAMs.

It's weird though in H2H i find 4231 and other formations work better than 4222 with most teams.

4222 will be less effective in 13 without the skill dribble if you play all formations for 100 games or so the proven best are 5212 & 41212. Just you tend to find an easier one to use before trying them all which is natural

What do you mean without the skill dribble? They are now removing old features, in addition to adding very few new ones?

I don't think the skill dribble was ever properly intended to do what it does. It's a broken features that should be removed, insanely hard to defend vs

Both will be a huge miss to me as I recently started to really master them and started owning people real hard with it.

Also, would take a lot of convincing me that 41212 would be anywhere near the best formation. Never used 5212 so cant comment on that. Ive played a fair few games this year with 41212 and it was the only formation I ever used in older versions. I wouldnt put it in my top 5 formations.

Will admit the skill dribble(assuming you mean PD) will be a huge miss for 4222 formation. I used to do the fake one way, speed burst the other with my CAMs, even with slower CAMs like Silva/Modric I used to leave defenders for dead, and be headed full speed in acres of space at the centre of the defence. Then it was often a choice between shoot at goal or play in a ST. Defender could only cover 1 option.

No way 41212 was one of the better formations on fifa 12, it was just a popular one as it was better in previous versions imo. I had a 41212 team and it was easily one of the worst win ratios i had, I also rarely struggled vs people playing it.

I never tried out a 5xxx formation but i've no doubt 5212 or 5221 are the easiest to win with but they are also the most boring which is why i never bothered using them. I like to win, but i like to have fun as well, people playing 5xxx made the game a lot less fun in pro clubs/h2h and UT. FIFA would have been a better game if 5xxx wasn't included.

I played with 352 for a while and you can just score so many goals, but defending is too stressful once people figure out they can chip long balls into the corners and spam crosses.

On h2h 4231 is the best form by far, but h2h sucks after UT so whatever.

4231 was also beast for my silver teams. That would concur with it being good in h2h.

+1 on 352, real nightmare vs anyone that works out all hes got to do is play through balls down the side of the defence. Also a nightmare if you get stuck using secondary press a lot in habit, because often 2 CBs go chasing it, and that leaves you wide open. Surprisingly hard to break the habit.

+1 on wanting to win but have fun. Thats why losing PD will suck hard, thats where most of the fun comes in. So much fun making people look silly or pulling off a dream goal.
