i have watched almost every spuds game this season
on the left he is deadly and constantly dangerous, on the right or middle completely anonymous because he cant make use of his pace properly

when he played in middle he curled a cracker against city?

Oh I never hinted for a second that he was BETTER on the right. Hes unquestionably not as good. Still leaves your comment way short of the mark tho. The sample you are judging him on is small enough without you(imo) judging it wrong.

Hes played less than a handful of games either right side or in centre. Other than that he sometimes switches sides for a ten minute spell, very rarely.

The game that stands out in my mind is Norwich away, at a time when Norwich were flying, Bale was given a free role and ripped them to shreds through the middle time and time again. He was unplayable.

Vs City this season he did damage both left and centre, scored a worldy IIRC.

The goal VDV scored at our place last season too. Bale beat 4men on the break on the right and set up VDV via lennon for the most beautiful counter attack goal Ive ever seen. Thats coming from me, whos team has been built on counter attacking for the last 5 years.

At home when teams sit deep hes not going to be as effective with his pace but his quality coming inside is more than enough to make him one of the best in the league on the right. Away from home his counter attacking on right is still breathtaking.

basically all of his strenghts get eliminated(going past defenders with ease and then deliver fantastic final balls with his left) when he isnt playing on the left, he just doesnt work as inverted winger at all

Basically we are agreeing in that he loses the ability to drive past defenders and shoot/cross at pace. I think hes the best in the world at that. But where the difference lies is that you seem to not give him credit for any other abilities. For example the game you are choosing as an example was one in which he drove straight through the middle of Arsenals defence to earn a pen. The whole team later fell apart, seems rough to just say Bale went missing.

Its just completely irrational to state he sucks balls at RW when he still has more than enough tools to make him among the best in the league there, and this despite that removing his key weapon.

I cant think of 1 RW I would pick over Bale in EPL. Maybe Valencia on current form only.

Also about those Spurs fans... I can fully understand why Arry would do that in certain away games where your likely gonna see <40% of the football. Its easy to come out after saying it didnt work when your entire team unravels. What were they saying before kick off about it? What were they saying becore or after the Norwich game?

Arrys option that day was give Bale a free role or play 442 with Sandro at RM. The team was far more balanced the way he set it up. Also made more sense to set up that way vs a team like Arsenal who play through the middle more than most.

Saw a Messi for the first time in forever today

Played against a team with CR7 and Messi, I ended up winning 4-2 despite him having tons of chances. I think the fact I have fast defenders (Marcelo/Silva/Maicon/Luiz) is the only thing that allowed me to keep the duo under control, it was crazy how much space the combo of them could make.

Only reason I won was that he was only playing 3 defenders and one of them was puyol, so Nilmar ended up scoring 4 times haha

I had messi too and I think SIF benzema >>> messi, hes nearly as good as cr7 but I also think robben sucks cause hes so fragile and I like cr7 - sif benzema - up aguero mroe than the cr7 messi robben combo

Anyone have any experience using the 4-3-3 to make a custom formation where the middle CM plays more like a CDM? I'm thinking about doing it, but Im wondering if the CM will actually play like a CDM if you change the work rates and position a little. (Im kind of bored with 41212 and I'm thinking of making the switch)
