i thought it was really fun playing you guys. i play defense, regardless of position or whatever , since when is that a problem? you all played defense too. is there a rule somewhere? should i just watch you bring the ball down pitch and shoot?
seriously when you play club 3v3, the cam always plays defense...at least i remember seb saying that. cruz and chill spent some time defending too, but so what?

I know this is a FIFA 12 thread but maybe my strategy still holds true, and could assist someone who has no direction.

Since I'm out the game, and have been the past two years due to health issues, I'll share my favorite UT team since the discussion has sparked up quite a bit lately. My strategy was to get the tallest(at least 6'0"+ or close), strongest and fastest players available, into a team(all players must have at least two of these qualities). I picked the EPL for my league since they had the most bodies of this archetype. I used a 4-2-3-1 since it's my favorite formation. All my FM(football manager) tactics were based around it, and it's the formation I've always used(since FIFA 08) in club(or OTP) and H2H matches(and also the one I'm most knowledgeable about). Another benefit of it was that I could easily make STs into CFs, LAM or RAM(warning: I don't know if this still holds true). From what I can remember, this was my squad on FIFA 10(below).

ST - Drogba
CF - Yakubu
LAM - Adebayor
RAM - Agbonlahor
DM - Mikel/Fellaini
DM - Essien
LB - Clichy
DC - Yobo
DC - Ferdinand
RB - Sagna

Why Adebayor/Agbonlahor/Yakubu instead of players likeAshley Young or Nani who are natural wingers/AMs?

Because I wanted all 4 forwards to be natural strikers. I want to be able to score from any position. Typically they(strikers) have better scoring(shooting) ability. Sure, if I was building a real team, I would prefer the natural wingers/AMs, but this is video game football, and we know everything that occurs in this realm can't occur in real life.

I know most would laugh at Adebayor, or Agbonlahor being AMs,but hear me out for a sec, the reason I peferred them over others was that they had dribbling skills, I could Ronaldo chop or McGeady cut inside to take shots or pass it off when on the wing.
(their passing ability is high enough since I mostly keep it on the ground. Regarding the Yak(Yakubu). He's a large body with decent speed. I like the large body players since it's hard for my opponents to take the ball off of me since I used the hold off skill, LT then an exit move in various directions. I know I played a few people here(hell, I even had some play with my club). My old username on this board was "reo," I can't retrieve my old tag since I no longer have access to the e-mail I used. I tried contacting support/Mat Sklansky, but he was no help(doesn't believe me). My XBL GT @ that time was I reo I. I'm not on XBL atm. Currently, just playing PC games(FM, GLB, OOTP, EU3, etc).

scoob, i enjoyed the games a lot. i don't care what tactics you use....all good. i thought both teams played really well...it was more fun playing you all than playing a random team.

going into the game i was excited to play defense against you and seb and scrub. i play a holding forward position :-)
seriously tho, i use a st at cam and just try and win the ball, then pass. it's really a cdm, but whatever, is that unsportsmanlike? with 3 players i want the freedom to move from box to box and on offense i want a st.

whenever cashy aka arsene wenger isnt playing club vs club the whole situations escalates. coincidence? I dont think so!

I'm thinking I like my defense, whats a good way to hybrid starting from the midfield? Or maybe, hybrid from the forwards first(since that's probably easier).. any ideas??

EDIT: Perhaps, getting Benzema and moving Cisse to CF? May need another French striker though.
Or maybe, just get Henry instead of Donovan and then Benzema up top.

Would that be a good switch? Can run Benzema instead of Dzeko. I think I'd be able to put Hernandez up with Benzema and still have 100 chem as well.

You did outplay us, absolutely, in that first game when we played our usual form and you guys played 25 defs, you def outplayed us, you should have won like 4-0.

But then we made our own little fun form, and all we saw were you guys sliding at us when the ball was 60 yards away, lucky not to be sent off, you didnt get a single shot in that game, lol, then calling us ******s and what not? I mean I'll take the brunt of it because I was positioned at LM but played CDM, but bottom line is I took captains orders and 4-0 to us wouldnt have been an understatement.

You win the final game on lolvariance, our GK makes the exact same funky save that your GK has already made once, your GK got lucky with the rebound, we didnt. GG. You clearly are way better than us, ha




The games were absolutely disgusting yet again, but your behaviour was far worse. I just find it hugely ironic that you got all p!ssy when we adopted YOUR tactics. Was very funny. idk about 1 red card in 2 games, you were very lucky not to get red in both games.

The games the other day vs Cashy/Emp et al were absolutely superb, goals, action, regular forms, a lot more sensible, fun game. I def wont be playing vs you lot again. Would def play some games vs Cashy/Emp though.

If you want to take that as you are better then do so, delude yourself, it matters none to me. I just dont want to spend 2 hours of my time doing something I hate. I would rather stick pins in my eyes than play this type of game. I'd be happy to own your face of h2h any time you want to prove your better than me or take your hatred out on me, jussayen.

So basically your a ST, who plays CAM, but its really CDM, and sometimes CB? I get ya!

Already explained 2-3 times ITT why its such a horrible experience to play against anyone using these forms/tactics. But I mean if we are going to take a "anything goes" aproach into these games, then half your team really cant go getting upset when change to similar tactics, even if that does mean you barely get a touch let alone a shot.

Cashy and co did very well vs us last week using a normal approach. After the game(I think it was 1-1-1, maybe 2-0-1, unsure) it was ggs all around and no bitterness. This reaction isnt born out of losing. Its born out of frustration for the g.ay as fu.ck tactics we had to endure for best part of 2 hours. Added to your behaviour on and off the pitch, did you really expect anything different?

I think if anything right now, I'd want a better midfield, a more explosive midfield. I like the midfield now, they are pretty balanced with offense and defense, but it'd be nice to be more attacking with them.

In other news...

I have 860k coins. I can either buy IF Gomez only, or IF Pepe, IF Marcelo, and SIF Chiellini.

Really unsure what to do. Pepe isnt much of an upgrade on original. Marcelo has been updated in all the wrong places(shooting for LB). SIF Chiellini is godmode: On!
