Looks like they sent out the copy of CK2 you get for preordering, I have a copy sitting in my Steam inventory. If you didn't have CK2 it was added to your game library.
Thanks! I can start the download while at work and play this tonight.
Random question that occurred to me reading the EU3 vs EU4 thing, and specifically about Western vs non-Western tech groups: why was mainland China never colonized by Europeans?
Probably because China was too strong, too populated, too unified, and much too far away for any European country until idk the late 18th/early 19th century. I mean Ming was overwhelmingly the strongest country in the world until its collapse in the 17th century. Compare to India, which had a huge population as well, but was broken up into a bunch of smaller states which allowed Europeans to divide and conquer. I mean China's army was huge, how would England/France/etc transport and supply the millions of troops it would take to conquer/occupy it? And even if say, France sent its entire army to conquer/occupy China, that would leave them in a terrible strategic situation.
Once the Europeans went through the industrial revolution, and were much more advanced than China and could defeat its forces at ease, China started to get dunked, repeatedly. But again. it was too populated and unified to simply "colonize" it. Europeans/Japan chipped away at peripheral/outer territories of China (Russia took outer manchuria, Japan took Taiwan) and its vassal states (Vietnam, Korea). Many/most countries also took a treaty port and had exclusive economic control of areas, as the chinese market was enormous and it was far more profitable to simply sell to the Chinese. However without a WW1 ruining the colonial powers and giving time for China to get back on its feet, its probable that China would have been further partitioned. Could have easily seen UK taking Tibet and Russia taking Xinjiang and Mongolia.

Today's dev diary was just a quick one sentence blurb saying that the game will be live at 9am EST next Tuesday. Kind of a bummer it won't be at midnight
I happen to have 2 weeks off from poker at the end of August before WCOOP. Is there any chance I can pour 150 hours into this game and be 'done' enough with it to focus on poker come WCOOP? This game seems awesome but these types of strat games are time vampires and I have lost a lot of days in them. Don't wanna get stuck in this game for months. uggg.
