The Great Khan Timur had forged a mighty empire bearing his name. Like Genghis Khan before him, he had led the Mongol tribes of central Asia in an amazing conquest of Persia. His armies bore down on Anatolia and the Levant, ready to crush everything in their path. The Ottoman Sultan wet his pants when he saw the massive horde approaching, and immediately pledged to honour Timur's greatness by sending tribute to Samarkand. With the Turkish front secure, the Mongol hordes turned their attention to the puny states of Georgia and Trebizond, crushing Georgia fully and making Trebizond their vassal. The border was also held firm against the Mamlukes, not letting the Turks into the Timurid lands, but neither advancing into Syria.

In the East, Timur's armies rode into Sindh and Kashmir, quickly vassalizing the small Indian countries. They then regrouped and skirmished with Delhi, keeping Delhi's army at bay. Meanwhile the Jalayirids were outmanoeuvered and crushed, with Iraq joining Timurid's empire and the remaining Jalayirid lands becoming a vassal. Timur's armies then moved against the pesky Mamluks, destroying their army and occupying the Levant, including Jereusalem. But bored of fighting a defeated enemy, he offered them an easy peace, with the utterly ruined Mamluks only conceding defeat.

Sometime along here Timur finally died, an old man approaching 70, and the greatest warrior the world had ever known. His young son Khalil took his throne in Samarkand and concerned himself more with the ruling of the empire more than just it's expansion. There were those who objected to Khalil's rule, but they were quickly slaughtered. He moved to centralize the government, calling for yearly meetings of all tribal leaders in Samarkand, to better watch over his lands. He also adopted the title of Khalifa, under the advice of his personal Imam, Nasir Khalil. He then took to the age old Timurid tradition of killing people and taking their land.

First was the Indian state of Rajputana, easily crushed and annexed. Soon the Sultanate of Delhi followed, weakened by past wars with the Timurids and more recently by the aggressive south-Indian Kingdom of Vijayanjara. Now bordering Vijay, a cease fire was quickly negotiated, neither country wanting to deal with the other just yet.

Khalil Timur then turned his attention to the lesser horde - Qara Koyunlu, in the west. They proved to be a more worthy foe than any before, cleverly moving their army around to disrupt the Timurid invasion. But they were no match and were eventually beated. However, Khalil had decided to raise extra War Taxes during the war, and the peasants paying them were not happy. Tax revolts were breaking out accross the Empire. Peace was negotiated with QK dismantled but not yet vassalized, and the Timurid armies spread out across the land to crush rebels. The Mamluks took advantage of the situation to invade with 36 thousand men, occupying two provinces. This is where 1419 ends - with a Mamluks incursion soon to be trampled by the Horde, and rebels being slaughtered just as fast as new ones are born.

question from game last night that really pissed me off.

Playing as Castille, I became papal controller fairly early. I had taken the 3 granada provinces and 2 of aragon's. I decided to declare a crusade on morocco. I end up sieging every moroccan province. I go to sue for peace. Morocco is too big to annex/vassilize completely in one swipe, so i decide to take 5 provinces for now. Here is the problem, I get to the sue for peace screen, boom, full infamy for everything and it says i have no casus belli. WTF? I checked the papal control screen and it still indicated a crusade against morocco.
There are a couple possibilities, the most obvious, I ****ed up when i declared war and didn't click on the casus belli. I don't think I did this because I didn't have a stability drop. Other possibility is after the war was declared, England took papal control, I don't know why, but would this have any effect? Any other possibilities I can't think of?

Open up the ledger, towards the end there should be a list of all active wars with their names. Your war is "The Castillian war of aggression" then you screwed up, it you didn't it'll be "Castillian Crusade against Morocco" or something.

As Morocco usually joins in the war against Castile as soon as war is declared on Grenada, I imagine you were already at war with them before you had a chance to call the crusade and then start a separate war under the crusade CB.

If a crusade is called on someone you're already at war with, you do get the triggered modifier, but your CB doesn't change. To avoid that, you can call the crusade on day one then declare separate wars on grenada and morocco.

ah this makes total sense.
I'm pretty sure i specifically avoided peace with morocco after the granada takeover because i didn't want to have to wait for the truce to expire.

You need to watch for when the GH is weak and hit them hard then. Some signs are
-low stability
-high WE/rebel chance (click on a bordering province and hover over the Revolt Risk to see it's contributing factors, including WE)
-fighting someone else significant and likely to have their armies occupied

Focus on getting their armies killed and most provs occupied before you start colonizing them.

Alternatively you can try to grow and then take them on one-on-one with standard anti-big strategies. Mainly, scorch your border provs and retreat to defend behind them. Let their large stacks come in and seige for a while, they'll take heavy attrition losses. Pounce on them before the seiges finish. Route if possible. Once you've routed/destroyed a lot of the forces, go on the offensive.

I think I just got screwed by RNG. GH finally went to war with Lithuania.

Boom, cannot declare war with regency. GH acquires most of Lithuania after steamrolling Lithuania and Polish armies.

I picked off Finland and half of Teutonic order but now I am literally hemmed in on all sides with Sweden being Denmark's buttbuddies and all.

I am praying my long term royal marriages with Denmark and England will payoff with one massive RNG doubling of my forces... meanwhile, long term expeditions to Africa it is. lol.

PS: Austria decided to be the defender of the Catholic faith. Damn heretics.

Through inheritance? I thought the only way to inherit a country was to go marriage -> claim on throne -> declare war w/ personal union CB -> get their relations back up -> wait for your king to croak.

@ Goofy: Sometimes you get random PU's an inheritances from countries you just have RMs with. Doesn't seem to have any real rhyme or reason.
