Any objection to me playing Burgundy instead of France? I'll be forming France within the first 50-75 years anyway.

normally no, but a burgundy means we can't have a France + Holland. So it makes it harder to place other people. France starts now with cores on virtually all the good burgundy provinces (including vlaanderen/anterwpen) anyway.

I keep trying to get in touch with daer over hamachi but he's never there. Also, it might be a good idea to delay the start of the game until next saturday due to thanksgiving and all.

Thursday does not equal Saturday. I vote for playing this week, but I'm not violently opposed to postponing if more than one person can't make it.

You can probably just play without me. Seems we have tons of people anyway so we aren't short. I can maybe sub if you need someone a particular weekend. My interest in Eu3 is really low at the moment. I'll be playing SW:TOR beta this weekend and I still have tons of skyrim to play (lvl 25 but have only explored Whiterun and half of Riften) and I need to get back and play some BF3 sometime too.

I'm out of town for the whole weekend, I vote we skip this week. I can't be the only one who won't be able to make it.

Also, I imagine we'll have to take a couple weeks off on the 24th and 31st in December.

I'll pick up Holland I guess. There are already multiple powers in N. Germany (The Hansa, Poland) and a strong russia in Selim, so there's really not many places I could expand as Sweden. Whereas the netherlands is empty, and letting one of the major powers (ahem, France) take it is a recipe for disaster imo.

Is it by design that at minimum maintenance, your armies won't replenish from your manpower pool?

I was also getting some weird behavior wrt army maintenance last night - when I went down to minimum maintenance, my army's morale didn't drop. iirc I could even march them into battle and they fought fine. Then, when I increased my army's maintenance back to maximum, only after I selected a unit would its morale decrease. Its numbers would display in green, I'd click them, insta-red. Same for each individual unit that I clicked.

Really weird. This was as Burgundy (fun country to play as for sure, getting missions to conquer/subjugate everyone around you is super lol).

the whole green/red thing is a measure of how much of a unit's max morale it has. When you fiddle with maint it changes that max.

So a unit at 0% maint will show up as green and have a morale of 2.4, but that same unit at 100% maint will also show up as green and have a morale of 4.5. It's only when the unit has 2.4 morale out of 4.5 that it turns red.

Ohhhhh! Makes sense. Although it only changing color when I selected a unit is annoying.

i suck at this game. But once i finally manage to run a country without going busto i will be DYING to get involved in some multiplayer action

this. first time I tried playing portugal and I ended up going into waaay too much debt I didn't even know about the military maintenance slider yet and I started off too many colonies at once. The one I had in Africa was a money pit and I gave up on that game already. This second game I'm getting really annoyed at my allies England and Aragon/Castille continually sucking me into wars I don't want any part of but everyone else says its impossible for me to ally with them so I'm thinking I'm stuck with them thsi last thing I wanna do is piss off aragon they my meatshield game gets pretty confusing but I know it'll be worth it when the learning is done

lol, this game's events are kind of crazy and unbalanced. I got gift to the state 300 ducats or 1 prestige. Let's see which one should I pick? Also, 300 ducats is about 2 years worth in this stage of the game it feels like cheating- well almost

yeah in late game I got a gift to the state of like 90k or some prestige

but then u get a -1 stab events like that E$@#!$@! comet which if you're not a western country takes 4+ years to recover from, especially if you're expanding and overextended at the time

Repost of the Rules for MP (for those new players who may not have seen them)

1) Wartax is allowed, since it gives WE
2) NO excessive Gangbangs(5v1 or 6v1 etc) allowed. Meaning if the gangbang is successful, there shall not be another for at least 50 years, unless the target player welcomes the challenge.
3) Private in game deals will not be enforced by the GM. Depending upon the nature of a Public deal, these will not be enforced either, except through Karma. I.E. If the players have agreed to a NAP and it is broken before the allotted time, this will not be enforced.
4) Do not declare war for the sole purpose of gaining war taxes or the crusade bonus.
5) Disrespectful treatment of other players is forbidden. Any disputes about in game situations are to resolved by the GM. Continual harassment of a player will lead to removal from the game. Note that players have different personalities and the GM does not know what each player considers disrespectful. The GM will generally not act on behavior unless he is told it is disrespectful, or the behavior is blatantly disrespectful (racism, homophobic statements, etc. Playful teasing over nationality, both in game and real life, is acceptable unless there is a complaint from a player.)
6) Wrecking your own nation just because you lost is forbidden. So you cant release every possible vassal, or refuse to peace and go to ridiculous lengths to annoy your enemy.
7) No sale of provinces to nations who cant see said provinces and cant see the sellers capital.
8) A player can DOW another player's vassal IF (that vassal is not allied with its overlord AND the player has no truce with the overlord) However, remember Karma. Or if the player has a valid CB against that vassal, such as Reconquest, AND no truce with the overlord.
9) Going to war with another player just for the lulz is not allowed. The nature of enforcing this rule is subjective.
10) Cheating and serious exploits is absolutely not allowed!
11) Rage-quitting equals removal from the game. This is just annoying for everyone and causes more problems for those who wish to remain in game.
