Been watching EFT on Twitch for a bit now and gotta say, the game is looking pretty legit (even in Alpha/Closed Beta). curious if any 2+2ers are part of the closed beta or have any thoughts based on vids etc.

def something to keep on the radar.

I've been grinding it a ton past week after discovering it on Twitch as well. It's a ton of fun man. If your a fan of DayZ or Arma I would suggest checking it out.

I find it very frustrating, especially when you play solo.
The game throws you into the deep end and explains nothing.
The objective of the game is to get to one of 2-3 exits selected for you while looting along the way. If you die it's game over and you lose all the equipment you brought. You don't get a map. You can buy one (as well as equipment) at a trader but they don't include any markings.
You might find one of the exits but for an unspecified reason is not active or you have to fulfill a condition that isn't properly explained like finding a key on another map.
My first time playing the Shoreline map I had seven minutes to get to the exit. I only knew the location of that exit because I googled a map with markings. I sprinted as much as I could and ignored everything along the way and I still couldn't make it. The same thing happened on one of the subsequent tries.
You can also get various kinds of injuries that can be fatal. The game tells you nothing what to do about that.
As you lose all your equipment if you die you have a strong incentive to avoid other players. If they have weapons that are worth looting then you might easily get killed and if they don't why bother. Let's say you killed that player. While you loot his gear you are stuck in the inventory screen for what seems an eternity. Another player who was attracted by the shots can easily kill you.

The game can give you a rush because dying really means something but you need a high treshold for pain. It definitely isn't for everyone.

EFT absolutely seems like a squad pvp-first type play. solo early on has to be frustrating.

and if I understand correctly the SCAV runs are basically a "freeroll" when it comes to loot getting? you dont take anything in and anything you loot you keep even when killed?

Not quite. You start the game with random gear which might be as little as a pistol with one magazine or a shotgun with 6 shells. So you are not exactly equipped for a firefight.
If you make it to one of your designated exits you keep all the equipment you have at that point. If you die you get nothing. Either way you have to wait 30 minutes before you can play as a scavenger again.
This isn't Skyrim. You only have a limited number of inventory slots and won't be able to escape the level with a lot of loot. In that respect the game can feel a bit grindy.
