Definitely not worth upgrading a system to play this game, Haven't played it in about 5 months, but IIRC, they make it a hassle to join up w/ other players b/c joining a guild is actually done outside the game, so once you reach the point of needing to hook up w/ others to defeat a boss, you just have to hope there are players in the area on the same mission you are.

Game of the Year on MMORPG.com, couple close seconds.

PS After couple big DLCs, Thieves Guild is coming next:

I guess even offering a Million $$ to people just to play it still didn't save this game??? It's a shame, I thought it was promising, but the design flaws were just too much to overcome.

Redownloaded this on PS4 on a whim because of the new DLCs. Maybe some folks are still playing.

Have they made joining guilds any easier within the game itself or do you still have to go to a website to join one?

Just got this for PS4 as it was on sale. Level 11 at the moment. Played PvP only briefly, was overwhelmed and confused and bailed. Enjoying the solo parts though.

I feel like the social/MP aspects of the game are not very intuitive.

They have been trying for two years to turn this game into something that more closely matches the single player experience. There's some problems with that. Reasons to group? Reasons to interact?

Only great thing about playing this game is that it seems very healthy and will be actively developed for a good while.

yeah, swtor went semi-single player too. Apparently people don't like having to deal with other people in multiplayer games

Dealing with other people is pretty bad, especially since nobody seems to use a mic or communicate in ESO. Even with a party, you get the problem where everyone wants to go in a different direction, at a different pace (had that problem big time in Borderlands 2)

Yeah, this game isn't setup to do the zone by zone questing content as a group. It's just not sadly, those zones are to be done solo. Group questing just gets annoying in this game.

Later on though in end game crafting/PvP dungeons/raids you will find yourself making friends very easily and enjoying the group content.

I might casually get back into the game. It was fun back in 2014, I just was too busy with poker. How do you guys feels about the new guilds and updates the game has seen in the last year?

(Not buying two PS4s ldo) My question is, is that worth it? Or would we play 10 hours of it and get bored with co-op play? We've played and still play a lot of D3 together on PS3 and enjoy it. It's important to note that I'm not a PC gamer and much prefer console gaming. Add to the fact that I don't have a good gaming PC and would have to build one from scratch, you can see my hesitation.
I'm way behind on this ldo, but this game despite it's pvp imbalances is still amazing. There's a lot of solo pve content as well as dungeons you can do with groups of four, then when you get to end game content there are trials. What keeps me coming back though is the pvp aspects of it.

It's essentially a huge sandbox where you can find people to duel or run in large groups and have massive keep battles.

Like any game though there are problems with it, there can be really bad lag in pvp, especially during peak hours and the endless strive for game balance among the characters leads to inevitable imbalance.

They've made it really easy to get to max level though(you can get a level 50 character in a matter of 6 hours) and you can get to CP rank 160 in a matter of a couple of weeks if you're playing regularly.

My wife and I play on xbox, I'm more of a pvp'er and she likes to collect/gather things and play the story mode. There's something for everyone.

The game has made a resurgence with the Thieves guild and dark brotherhood dlc's. It was never really dead(depending on your faction, red has a HUGE population att), but a lot more people re picked it up with how easy they made it to get to end game content.

There are a lot of warts on the game from a pvp perspective but it's been improved greatly. I duel quite a bit and as far as class balance goes it's as close as it's ever been in the year I've been playing it. There are people running heavy armor builds, light armor, medium etc where in the past one style was basically OP as hell.

From a PVE standpoint they're bringing in new content every quarter, there will be a new trial and they are updating some PVE content in this next DLC as well.

TL;DR PVP improvements= C to C+

PVE improvements = B to A-

As someone who loves PvP, staged duels mean nothing and add no value for me. I play MMOs for the world, not to lobby sim zero value battles.

I actually liked a lot of what Cyrodiil had. It just needed better load balancing so there weren't lag issues.

Dueling is one of the best ways to find class disparities imo. If you like pvp and don't like dueling that's fine, but from someone who duels I can say that no matter which class you choose if you build it right it can be quite competitive. Nobody wants to play a game where there's ridiculous imbalance.

This game has a ton of content (nothing else on console touches it) and you can get it pretty cheap these days. It's a great ROI right now for sure.

And it's way more polished than it was two years ago, constantly getting updated, etc.

Apparently one of the next DLC's will take place in Vvardenfell (original Morrowind island) so some definite hype for me there!

I started a Guild to try and make this a more multiplayer experience for me. Right now it is aimed primarily at level 50 and below guys/noobs and is Aldmeri-focused. If anyone is interested shoot me a PM. We have about 15 at the moment, so we have a guild bank (which is awesome and reason enough to start a guild).

My review so far:

About me:
Latecomer to ESO
Not a big MMO guy
Love most all Bethesda RPGs (Fallout, ES)

I was really skeptical about this game because it's an MMO and had pretty meh reviews. I am enjoying it quite a bit though. I feel like crafting is far superior to Skyrim or Fallout, combat is about the same as Skyrim, and the graphics aren't quite as beautiful but still lovely. There are also some hiccups/crashes that seem to happen from time to time. That said, I am having a lot more fun than I expected though, and it can basically be played as a single player game if you like, with a TON of quests and content. It's basically way more of the Elder Scrolls action you are used to, and in a larger world (not limited to just one region). In addition, there is plenty of multiplayer interaction to be had if that's your thing.

The one thing I don't really get yet is the Alliance mode. The couple of times I tried it, I felt overwhelmed and lost about what to do. I also haven't felt like dumping skill points into Alliance abilities yet. I imagine I will get around to this mode eventually though. Overall, I'd give the game about an 8.5 out of 10 so far, which is much higher than I expected to give.

Alliance mode is the pvp aspect of the game. Basically the goal is to go into a campaign and it's a big sandbox of king of the hill. The more keeps/castles/resources you hold per hour, the more points your alliance gets. At the end of the week or month depending on the campaign you are given awards based on if your faction won that campaign and how many alliance points you got during it. The bigger the role you played the better the reward.

Depending on your character there are some must have alliance skills for end game content in the alliance skill line, namely vigor and caltrops for stamina characters. The rest are more pvp based and not needed so much for end game pve content. PVP is very overwhelming the first few times, but quite fun once you get in a good group and get the hang of it.

Glad you are enjoying the game, the aldmeri main story line was probably my favorite one out of the 3.
