Sony was so disappointed by the crowd's confused reaction to their 2018 show they've decided to skip next year...

So basically, "All AAA developers are busy with next gen games and we aren't ready to reveal the PS5."

Anthem, Metro Exodus, and Division 2 will all be out before E3. There are really no big titles scheduled after that besides the inevitable yearly COD/BF release.

I don't think it's that big of a deal. In fact, I actually think it might be a smart move.

The current trend of promoting games still 2 or 3 years away from being released is leading to people either being sick of hearing about them, or resenting how long the development process takes, which in turn leads to studios rushing out bug-ridden unfinished games at release.

I can understand it in the case of small indie game studios that need either Early Access or Kickstarter to raise funds to complete a game, but in the case of Sony , MS, nintendo there is no need to promote games that far in advance.

I'm really only concerned with what it does to TLOU2's release. I figured they'd release it on PS4, then release a remastered PS5/TLOU2 bundle a year and change after. But Neil is really high up in Sony, so its possible that his baby is too much for PS4 and so it'll be pushed to the PS5 release. And who knows how much longer before Death Stranding comes out. That looks like it would need a PS5 level engine.
