I don't really care for any of the games they announced but Devolver just won E3 with their presentation.

Bethesda crushing the winner of E3 contest so far, excluding that amazing Devolver Digital.

Cyberpunk > Bethesda's whole lineup.

To me Bethesda was way ahead of Microsoft, who were ahead of EA. You don't agree?

Ah, I suppose this is probably the difference. I don't think those are "Microsoft", so I'm not really crediting that conference with Cyberpunk or Shadows Die Twice. More like commercial breaks that took place during the MS show.

Microsoft is easily the best conference so far. Wall to wall trailers with minimal talking. EA sucked and Bethesda was ****ing boring. We got 30 mins of Todd Howard testing his stand-up routine, which included 10 mins of a ****ty mobile game, which ended the Bethesda conference, barring showing the logos for two games coming god knows when.

And I say this as someone who doesn't give a **** about Microsoft's entire slate of games.

If I had to choose then MS showed way more stuff but I think the whole "who won E3" thing is kind of silly and pointless anyway. Rage 2 was the only game Bethesda showed that interested me. Just telling me the name of a game and showing a logo is kind of boring.

With as much attention as they gave every elder scrolls spinoff, I figured mainline elder scrolls games were just done, a la how Blizzard gave up on Warcraft mainline games once WoW was released. Had practically resigned to trying out TESO before tonight. Now I know I just have to wait until a few years after PlayStation 5 releases. :-/

I thought Rage 2 looked decent, a maybe. Fallout 76 went from OK to holy crap amazing, Doom 2: Hell on Earth is a snap buy, might pick up Prey when it goes on sale if the VR thing is on PS4. Another Wolfenstein is worth considering, despite the 2nd being not all that great, the 1st was very good. Skyrim mobile game sounded crap but then is coming to everything including VR so could be great, wait and see. Not one but two next gen games confirmed without skirting the issue (Cyberpunk?, Halo Infinity?). One of which is a space game! There are games with release dates and they are soon. Skyrim on Alexa was funny. Todd was good, nice memes. Great show imo.

MS showed a lot of stuff, not much MS stuff tho. Halo was, as you say - "here's the name and a logo". If I were to credit them for Cyberpunk, Shadows Die Twice, Metro Exodus, Dying Light 2, Just Cause 4, Kingdom Hearts 3, Devil May Cry 5, Fallout 76 and The Division 2 yeah I'd say it was fantastic. They've done good in expanding their in-house studios, the future may be looking up for them indeed.

Any chance of an HZD2 announcement from Sony tomorrow?
E3 2018 June 12-14 Quote

I suppose there's always a chance, but imo almost zero. I wouldn't be surprised if any game like that is being readied for PS5 at this point. HZD2 is probably my prime contender for a "system seller" launch window title. Perfect for mind-blowing graphics and a successful IP, and the timing is probably good.

I found the biggest flaw in that trailer:

That jumper is janky as ****

(but game looks HYYYYYYYYYYYYPE)

Doesn't matter, as long as the storytelling and world building and characters are there it's gonna be awesome. Let's be honest, Witcher had some dubious gameplay features (lol inventory/crafting) but the storytelling was so strong no one cared.

Yeah, but The Witcher was a series of novels, this they are just adapting a tabletop RPG and they don't really seem to have gotten the tone right. It's just a trailer so we'll see. Obviously CD Projekt is 3 for 3 for releases and that track record earns them the benefit of the doubt.

Re: Fallout 76, uh, the gameplay trailer? It looks real bad. So it's like Rust or whatever, always online MMO sandbox survival/shooter/crafting game? There's no VATS, there doesn't even seem to be iron sights, and balancing that if there's a real RPG system seems like it'd be real difficult. PUBG works because everyone starts naked and the game is over after 20 minutes.

Yeah my interest in Fallout 76 went down after seeing gameplay. Map is 4x Fallout 4 but I would guess nowhere near 4x the content to fill it. Look forward to tryhards playing 6 hours a day nuking your base too.

There was a message from CD Projekt Red that flashed on screen during the Cyberpunk trailer:

Quote:
It’s been over 2077 days since we announced our plan to develop Cyberpunk 2077. We released a CGI trailer, gave some interviews and… went dark. Normal procedure for these kinds of things — you announce a game and then shut up, roll up your sleeves and get to work. We wanted to give you the Witcher 3 and both expansions first, which is why this period of staying silent was longer than we planned. Sorry for that.

As soon as we concluded work on Blood and Wine, we were able to go full speed ahead with CP2077’s pre-production. But we chose to remain silent. Why? At some point, we made a decision to resume talking about the game only when we have something to show. Something meaningful and substantial. This is because we do realise you've been (im)patiently waiting for a very long time, and we wouldn't like anyone to feel that we're taking this for granted. On the contrary - it gives us a lot of extra motivation. The hype is real, so the sweat and tears need to be real, too .

But, to the point. Today is the day. If you're seeing this, it means you saw the trailer - our vision of Cyberpunk, an alternative version of the future where America is in pieces, megacorporations control all aspects of civilised life, and gangs rule the rest. And, while this world is full of adrenaline, don't let the car chases and guns mislead you. Cyberpunk 2077 is a true single player, story-driven RPG. You'll be able to create your own character and..., well, you'll get to know the rest from what we show at our booth at E3. Be on the lookout for the previews!

Before we finish, you probably have some questions, right?
  1. When? When we told you we would only release the game when it's read, we meant it. We're definitely much, much closer to a release date than we were back then , but it's still not the time to confirm anything, so patience is still required. Quality is the only thing that drives us - it's the beauty of being an independent studio and your own publisher.
  2. How big? Seriously big, but..., to be honest, we have no bloody clue at this point in time. Once we put it all together, we will openly tell you what you can expect. And we promise we'll do this before we start talking about any pre-orders or ask anything of you.
  3. Free DLC/Expansions/DRM? Expect nothing less than you got with The Witcher 3. As for DRM, CP2077 will be 100% DRM-free on PC.
  4. Microtransactions? In a single player role-playing game? Are you nuts?

Once again, thank you for your patience. If you have a minute, do visit cyberpunk.net and share your opinion (about anything) with us. We read everything you post and we treat it very seriously.

Yours, CD PROJEKT RED Team
I'm willing to give CDPR the benefit of the doubt (although I thought the tone of the trailer was fine), way more then someone like Bioware at this point.

Rage 2 footage was pretty disappointing. Rage was awesome because it was so tactical, best enemy AI to date, you had to switch weapons all the time and manage ammo and your environment to not get outflanked or to flush people out, and you rarely had more than 3-4 enemies to face at once. This looks like the new Doom, over the top weapons and numbers of enemies. It might be a fun game, but Bethesda already has Doom, why put out another similar game just in a different setting.

Satisfactory is an amazing name imo.

Ubisoft was decent. Lol at the celebratory anti-vivendi theme tune

More Trials is great, that The Division 2 has 8 player raids is very great news! Skull and Bones looked like it might be cool. I very much liked the look of that Starfox / space game but sigh toys-to-life.
