The new calibration system shaved 2000 off my MMR, which has greatly increased my ability to throw otherwise unlosable games. In the past, "throw" was often too strong of a word. Now, I often definitely have nobody to blame but myself when a game turns sour. I'm trying to finish getting Huskar to level 30 on Dota+, so that's pretty much all I've played. I die a lot more than I need to, but I just can't help but try to armlet toggle my way through a 1v3 I shouldn't engage in the first place, and there is no such thing as avoiding a counterpick. Show me your AA, your Legion, your Axe, your Necro. I care not. It's brawling time. Come at me.
One exception to the throws rule is that 58 minute loss on Tuesday. We had mega creeps at like 22 mins, but I just could NOT get the Drow out of the jungle, or the Bristle to purchase a BKB for our attempts at a teamfight by throne. Enemy team held off megas that whole time and NEVER left each others' side, and eventually just became unkillable. Enemy Silencer had 140 stolen intellect. Nothing I could do there despite the absolutely ludicrous lead I gave them to start. Throw in a Void for Chrono, and we just had no shot at closing it out.
I like the new map, and don't really understand the hate it gets. The extra space was created by bumping the borders out. Most of the action still takes place in the original footprint. The new objectives create hotspots for conflict.
2k MMR is a silly place, but I've played in my fair share of 6k games as well in the past in party queue, and honestly prefer the more relaxed 2k ones where I can do whatever I want and not get punished by meta slaves.
Edit: Ugh, now I'm just thinking about that incredibly pointless loss. They took their first tower on our side of the map at 47:00. (!!!) How do you lose that game?
