If a player fails to connect and load, we now kick all the players back to matchmaking so we don't end up 4v5.

Hooked up occasional flinches to lane creeps.
Reduced random blood splatter chances from creep to creep attacks.
Fixed Broodmother's webs not showing up if you connected after they were created.
Screenshakes now work during the end game cinematic
Fixed character shadows sometimes not showing up.
Units are now pushed away from the ancient when it's destroyed.
Updated pine tree foliage.
Added unique tree destruction and tree stumps
Added WIP radiant ancient destruction
Changed impact effects to have a specific hero variation
Fixed blood coming from mechanical units
Fixed Weaver afterimage effects not rendering properly
Fixed character shadows staying off if they were first rendered as invisible on a client


AUDIO

Alchemist's concoction lines are now heard by other players nearby.
Riki will only say "This is Redundant" when picking up an Invisiblity Rune while invisible.
Fixed not hearing the ancient destruction sound effects if the camera was too far away.
Enabled the Unit Speech option in the settings panel.
Altered processing on Jakiro voices (in 12/1/11 update).


DOTA 2 BOTS

Fixed bug where bots would fail to attack Roshan.
Fixed bug where bots wouldn't deny their own creeps.
Fixed spectating players still being able to control bots while spectating.
Fixed bug where bots would grab Aegis over humans if the human's inventory was full. Now they'll assume the human will drop an item for Aegis.
Fixed bug that could sometimes cause no one on a team to pick up Aegis.
Fixed bug where bots would freeze when they encountered a dropped item that they wanted to destroy.
Fixed bug where bots were only avoiding the outermost towers in each lane.
Bots now try to avoid each other somewhat, so they should no longer stack on top of each other as much.
Bots will now attack pets, controlled creeps, and minions in general.
Fixed case where heroes would backtrack after blinking.
Added bot avoidance to Ancient Apparition's Cold Feet.
Bots will now use Glyph if their base is under attack and there are no humans on their team.
Fixed bug in Crystal Maiden bot that was preventing her from using Freezing Field.
Fixed bug where bots would tank Roshan until they died.
I checked out the "Units are now pushed away from the ancient when it's destroyed." and I don't like it.

After the ancient is destroyed, the creeps get pushed back, but they are still running. Also, the camera doesn't pan down to hero level like it used to. Makes it feel unfinished. They should have an added animation in there like HoN. Maybe that'll come in once the game releases.

Also, with the end game chat box removed it looks like something is missing.

It would be cool if they had like MVP stats or something at the bottom, Most Last Hits, Most Denies, Best Kill-Death, Most Money Spent, etc. What do you guys think?

In regular dota, they had more stats shown at the end of the game I believe. I don't really look at the scores in both dotas but I do not recall seeing a K/D score vs each enemy hero. This shows you how you how many times you killed a certain hero and how many times a different hero killed you that game.

In the original some of the heroes if not all would have animations at the end of the game albeit cheap ones. Windrunner would shoot arrows in the air and Kunkka would raise his tidebringer glowing sword in the air for example.

It would be extremely hard to run a dota tournament for 2+2 alone. Unless you are talking about a 1v1 solo mid tourney which is very biased, getting 10 people on at the same time is not an easy task. Easiest way would be to completely ignore trying it, but if you were going to try it a clan vs clan match would be best solution. I would think that dota2 has some sort of "small" online tournaments though in the future.

DOTA isn't DOTA without having someone disconnect from the game.

So ****ing annoying.

It ended up 2v5 so I told the other team that the sad thing is that they didn't win because they were better than us, but rather because of my ****ty teammates. And then the last guy on my team told me to shut up because I wasn't any good.

Haha. Really? It's 2v5 and you think me dying a few times to a push of a full team means I'm not good? I probably had the most last hits on my team up to that point and was doing a ton of harassment that was punishing the people in my lane. But of course, 2v5 means I suck at this game.

Yea I have noticed much more disconnects / leavers in dota2. In regular dota this used to be a huge problem until you start entering higher level leagues. I actually ended up winning a 1v5 the other day. The entire team must have thought I would just roll over and give them the free win but I decided to stay and dick around. I used all of the leavers on my team to Rosh at about the 20 min mark. Eventually 3 of them left and realized that they weren't going to win anytime soon or got bored. I was easily able to take on the other two remaining so they eventually left. Easy game.

Dota 2 has a long way to go before being better than HoN. For some reason, it doesn't seem as crisp and responsive as HoN. The interface is horrible unintuitive as well.

I am not the biggest fan of the interface simply because I don't like change...I want my old wc3 interface but it's not gonna happen because of copyright issues so I got used to it.

Now regarding Dota2 has a long way to go before being better than HON, I never played it so I am bias but HON will never have the amount of users Dota2 has once it is released. It will never be played on the same professional competitive scale either. When all is said and done, comparing Dota2 to HoN will be nothing more than a joke.

Fyi I am basing this off of information I know about the competitive dota scene and population.

Dota2 should win out in a while, since they can pretty much take all the good stuff from DOTA and then also take the goodies that HoN came up with (spectator interface, matchmaking, etc) and put those in.

What is so great about killing Roshan? Other than getting an instant revive, I don't really get it. Maybe you can play a little more aggressively? I don't know.

I would think he should give you some kind of buff, to reward you for taking him down. I think of it like in LoL where you kill some of the neutral creeps and they give you buffs, which help you out.

Just seems like it doesn't really add as much as it should.

the xp/gold...especially when you're a lvl 8 or 9 ursa/lycan...etc..

Does that really make a huge difference later in the game at like the 40min-50min mark?

I think everyone gets 200 gold.

If you solo rosh at a low level like that you can easily jump up 2 levels or so which does make a big difference in the game. If you get ahead of everyone else early, the other team won't be able to catch up easily.

Generally speaking, a rosh kill later on in the game typically yields a higher result. Of course you can argue that the very early rosh kill with lycan or ursa you will gain a couple of levels, but aegis is much better later on in the game. I believe the hero who kills rosh gets 350 + the 200 although I may be wrong.

The reason aegis is so good is basically because you give it to your most important hero on the team. This means that you are essentially fighting a 5v5 but your most important guy is going to come back in the fight if he does manage to die. A lot of times a rosh kill will lead to a set of raxes. If you watch pro games you will sometimes see that they will literally have a 5v5 stand off for 5+ minutes playing a game of chicken because they know how important it is. Also at the later points in the game with aegis, dying with it means that you are not losing gold for your death and you will not need to buyback which will easily be over 2k gold near the end of the game.

The 3rd+ rosh incarnations also drops an item called cheese btw. Basically an item that is going to heal full life and full mana of the user. 1 time single use item.

Rosh is like really important late game and can often decide games. Like say each team had a carry equally farmed or so, say like Void vs. AM and AM has the aegis, Void will probably pop his first Chrono and kill AM, then with AM coming back with Aegis, Chrono will be on cd. Or for example the carry with aegis dives the other team, takes down 2-3 support before going down himself and then reviving the fight 5v2/3
