I don't get it when you say AM is better in pubs. AM is the premier hard carry in the competitive scene.

AM is probably the best carry/pub stomper, and is frequently banned atm in competitive, in pubs all you have to do is to farm for like 30 mins, and provided that the other team doesn't have NS/Doombringer, it's so fricking difficult for pubbies to shut you down provided you have some map awareness

Anyone here with beta that fancy a few games sometime?

So what does Dota2 bring to the table, except no more battle.net and improved graphics?

all of the community management aspects that were missing from battle.net.

Did any of you play "public" games? I played TDA and other private leagues exclusively when I played dota on WC3. Playing public games was a distaster. You would NEVER have a game go through to the end with all 10 people.

Dota2 provides the matchmaking and punishment systems necessary to bring up the quality of experience for everyone.

It's also a graphics update, and provides a custom game engine with which to remove the shackles of the WC3 map editor for future content and features.

Yangle pretty much explained explained it. Another reason is the team coordination once again. In order to properly kill AM the team most likely will need to have good chain stunning. Pro teams will have this down unlike randomly made pub teams. If you fail to chain stun AM simply blinks away.

Inso0 said most of the differences also I believe. I have heard that they fixed the lag issues regarding playing with people across the world such as the european server from north america. You will not feel any lag at all. That is a big difference compared to the old crappy battle.net.

It also allows for the hot key customization which is a good feature. Better replay analysis / commentary aspects. Basically dota 2 has more potential compared to regular dota. Regarding Dota 2 if you disliked the original Dota I do not think most people will enjoy it since it is supposed to be an exact replica but on a better network platform and improved graphics.

HoN has that since forever.

Only thing really wrong with hon is the community, and I would love for it to have other game modes such as all mid with specific rules so that you win on the first or second tower but they make the towers stronger, something like that.

Dota2 will be more "hardcore" than HoN and especially moreso than LoL.

HoN and Dota2 are pretty close to one another though in terms of overall experience. Valve just thinks they can replicate dota better than HoN because, well, they are just going to replicate dota on a new engine with the maker of dota in charge of the dev team.

I played and enjoyed HoN, but never purchased it. I only played the beta.

Do I still have a chance to get in the beta?

I remember entering back during that huge tournament.

I vaguely remember receiving an email, but I think I deleted it because I don't trust emails like that.

Hired and then left.

That's why HoN started out as a "1:1 copy of dota with different names" and then slowly migrated into its own identity.

First game I randomed sniper with a friend getting Lina.

Had a guy on our team who was your classic beta hero telling everyone how terrible we were. He wouldn't help in team fights. All he wanted to do was farm.

I ended the game 16-4 with ~180 creep kills.

Hero weaver who bitched at us the entire game had 400 CS and didn't assist the team at all but commended us on "pulling it together" toward the end. I can't wait for the ability to downvote kids like that and make him play in a matchmaking pool with other ******s.

Oh, Dota. How I have missed you and your wonderful community.

First game was almost exactly an hour long.

Second game was over by 35.

400 CS, wow. Yeah this is why I play EM. Sadly. Even though it sucks, the games usually don't go that long.

Yeah, well that 400 CS was almost useless to our team.

The only reason we won was because Lina and I were running around ganking their farmed heroes and then pushing lanes. Weaver had 400 CS and 6 deaths, but never actually participated in important team fights. He got kills, but usually only against people that tried to disrupt his lane farming.

I have faith in Valve to implement a system that will minimize my interaction with ******s like him as we move forward.

You should have seen the chatlog, though. It was epic.

My friend who was playing Lina used to play in competitive tournaments with Domain of Pain, but we haven't really played dota since early 2009. So it's our first game and we're asking questions about the new interface and my friend goes top with Weaver and begins getting last hits. This kid has a literal **** fit about the fact that he isn't being allowed to get all of the last hits.

We're talking legitimate finger-spew breakdown here. While he's on one of his first rants, he gives up first blood.

This of course only made it worse.

The problem with EM in my experience, is that it's filled with ******s like this in every game due to them getting curb-stomped in normal games.

I will likely be playing the **** out of this in the coming weeks and months.
