Heh, I think I see what this post means now, everyone is so ****ing negative and mad if we lose. I got some of that from unranked, but people seem even more invested in ranked games, when, come on, who the **** cares? Especially the guys I'm getting matched with now, who are like, guardian or crusader - you guys suck at the game, just like everyone else, that's why you're down at this rank, don't you understand that??

Whoever's playing mid loses the lane and some teammate is guaranteed to be like "wahhhhhh reported", good lord

yeah that just happened to me even at immortal

i get like 6 mins vanguard 10 mins blink on axe vs PL lane (super easy obv) and im all like < smiley face >

our mid dies to brood and insta rages and buysback, tp mid and run into thier team to feed intentionally.

All the while spamming in all chat peruvian

Uninstalled again

lol idk why this game attracts so many negative horrible people, or maybe that's just the world we live in

I go into every game like <smiley face>, "let's go team!" and within 5 minutes someone's raging for no reason, which is even more hilarious at guardian (where I just got placed) than any level where people aren't trash at the game. Last night some clown was spam alt-clicking my (Lich) ult when he was trying to gank on one person all by themselves, or spam clicking places to ward where the minimap had just shown 3 enemies in that area and I would absolutely die if I went to try to ward there, or doing "enemy has vision" pings in places where we literally had sentry wards. 0% chance that guy walks away from losses thinking anything but "god my team is such garbage, if only I could move up to where they respect my raises I'd be crushing" (we even won that game, somehow, so he's prob infinitely more annoying in games he loses)

I muted him, after I had already muted the Storm Spirit who would get on voice chat to call people bad names when he thought they did something wrong (my poor gf, hearing this in the living room with me, is like "what is wrong with these people?!?!?")

...almost on cue: 8 minutes in and Axe is like "omg why didn't you guys TP in, we had a triple kill, they dove so deep, omg this team sucks, I'm going to feed now"

like 0 to 100 on the salt scale because one thing went wrong, so now he has to ruin the game for everyone

Riki is actually hard, right? Usually the first time I practice a new hero against hard bots I struggle, but:

The bots bought a few gems but it didn't seem like they really used sentry wards, I assume humans generally counter him better? He's fun as hell to play but I'm nervous about taking a squishy carry into a real match.

Gotta play Dota with headphones on to preemptively save relationship

Riki is OP but maybe not the best in the carry role. More often played as a roamer 4 position I believe.

Welcome to actual Dota now Goofy. It’s a miserable, horrible place > 50% of the time.

Just logged on to grind more turbo and saw Kirby hit Immortal and the leaderboard. Congrats!

Play him as a roaming support instead.

People will not counter him at all well at your MMR.

Your post already show your thought process is on a higher level than 90% of people there so you will climb.

Try bloodsuka for a hero that absolutely trashes lower tier games too.

Would this kinda make our team fights 4v5? Am I hoping they forget about me and don't take proper vision precautions? Otherwise it seems like I'd charge into the fight and die because I have, like, no HP and I don't have enough in the way of items (playing support) to extend my survivability.

Part of this also makes me wonder - while it's easy to identify scaleable characteristics that make a particular hero a good carry, what defines a hero that would make a good support? Or can you take basically anyone and play them as a support if you want to?

Yeah, I have one friend I play with a bit where the games have been a lot less toxic, but he's a bit better than me so the downside there is being the worst player in the game.

You have multiple ways to survive the fight. Firstly you are untargetable in your ultimate. Next you have smoke cloud which silences and makes them miss. You also have blink strike, you can blink to enemies or allies. At your level people will often lack detection or if they do have it won't use it well. His main positives are outside team fights though. You can **** on lanes where they won't counter your invis. Harass lanes to death with Riki (not solo though) then use this to win the vision game and make lots of space for your carries. You can get a late diffusal as a support (you rush this as a 4 often but it will still be later than carry). Smoke cloud out of invis is just so so ridiculous at lower levels. They won't have force staff or use it at the correct time. You can control the bounties, make them waste money on detection, mess with their jungle, snipe courier and just win the vision game.

In terms of can any hero play support. Sort of, but many not well. Like Spectre support would be just awful. It really depends on what they can do without gold, or alternatively how they can farm without farm priority. So like Sven can be played as a support. Get blink, stun, auras for your team. But it's not ideal.

What about, say, PA support? Spam Q for slow + damage (especially nice with crits later) without being in danger, E passive detects nearby heroes and keeps you hidden on minimap to steal bounties or whatever, blink gives you survivability?

I mean I assume this is dumb because no one does it and PA is universally regarded as a hard carry, but it seems like she has similar qualities to Riki and I'm not quite sure where the line would be drawn between them.

Support PA was a thing a long time ago until dagger range was nerfed. It was 1200 at all levels with 70(?) base damage. Support PA with clarities just sitting in the fog dunking you with 70+ damage nukes which slowed for 50% at level 1.

When it was changed to be 585 range at level 1, the party was over, because you couldn't harass the lane without being out of position on a very squishy hero.

Her skills are just significantly worse from a support standpoint and her hard carry skills significantly better. But it would be one patch away from changing around. You are thinking about it the right way.

How are you winning all these games spamming axe? Feel like when I would pick axe 2nd-3rd, I’d always lane against Ursa or MK.

Probably because he's getting a useful assist in lane domination.

Solo Axe is generally sad. Throw in any one of many viable lane buddies and Axe is a monster. The new Battle Hunger is too good.

first pick axe, immortal teammate knows to get g-stroker? or SWM

ye im almost always vs ursa and mk lol. i try to ban mk everygame or pick a bit later but usaully have to 2nd/3rd. I got pretty good at playing against ursa but mk is ridiculous.

They also pick a ton of necro its super annoying and usually can never get a call kill and then they get back to full instantly

I was spamming axe quite a bit a few weeks ago. Don't know him very well, but he is definitely easy mode this patch. Even in bad matchups you can just skill the nuke and few carries can do anything about it. If you happen to be against the 3 that can, just cast it on the support and they will have the same problem. Even if he does not get gold in the lane, he can pretty easily make items between 5-10 minutes after he has a couple of levels in helix and tranquils.

i can be so streaky its unbelievable

won 8 of last 9, and now i lost 8 of my last 9 after that.

Most games are so weird that its just pure variance not even my impact on the games.

Like my last game ( I feel bad for adding both were peruvians at this point but HEY ), their mid destroys their items (even gifting me a bottle) at like 15 minutes, then our mid disconnects for 10 minutes AND WE FRICKIN LOSE ASGAHERGAHhhh

sup dudes

This is in normal behavior score? I don’t know how your games are so variable there.
