I dont know how people are saying druids are hard to level. 0 downtime and at 20 you get stealth and a boost to run speed. 1-20 are the absolute worse and that's been documented but once you hit 20 it's a total breeze.

I agree, but that's solely based on the lock's skill. I've seen some who don't know what life tap/drain life are, so they would obviously take much longer leveling than someone who knew what they were doing.

Huntards (like me) don't really have to know what they're doing, aside from the occasional mend pet.

Druids aren't hard to level, exactly, but they certainly do have downtime. Shapeshifting uses quite a bit of mana, and to shift out, heal, and shift back can become rather costly.

I never did understand why pallies take so long to level. Seems like they'd be a great mix of warrior and priest, which I'd assume would level fast, but sure enough, they ain't speed hogs.

As long as you don't try to kill mobs way higher than your level feral druids never has any downtime. Cat form -> kill -> kill -> kill -> [etc] -> shift out and heal -> repeat. Your mana will be full when you need to shift out and heal again.

And if you're not feral when levelling you're stupid.

the only problem with that -- like the only time i have downtime with my (feral) druid -- is when im training my weapon skills after each level... they seem to take ages to train and when youre out of cat form it takes a while to kill stuff which increases healing which increases sitting down and regen'ing mana, etc.

what i've begun doing is, once i level, basically train the weapon until i run out of mana, then go into cat form for a while while my mana regens, then once it regenerates go back and train weapon a bit longer, etc.

Why are you levelling weapons skills as a druid?

i was told (this could be wrong?) that the weapon skills mattered while you were in feral form

if that is wrong, then goddamnit ive wasted a lot of time.

also, if this is wrong, does your weapon matter at all? like, can i just use some level 1 staff as long as im in cat form?

You want a weapon with +stats. The weapon damage doesn't matter though.

Try unequipping your weapon while in cat form, see what happens to your attack stats.

But yes, to say it directly, druids do not ever need to level weapon skills. Ever. For any reason whatsoever. Ever.

(I'd kick whoever told you that in teh nootz)

ok well if thats the case then i pretty much agree with the dude that says we have next to no downtime. when im just in feral mode (switching back occasionally to heal), its very rare that i find myself having to sit and rest up -- usually only when im trying to do some quest thats way over my head.

Pallies mostly due to their lower DPS (even as Ret, which you should be leveling with, at least til youre high enough level to make prot grinding viable) and the fact that they dont have much capability for taking on more than one or two mobs at once, and very few "oh ****" abilities, other than bubble. The ability to heal is nice, but it consumes mana obv, which you also need for your seals and judgements, so you end up drinking some times.

Also as you get to know the game you get faster and faster at levelling. If a hunter was your first character and a druid is your 2nd, I would guess your druid ends up levelling a lot faster because you dick around a lot less getting lost and exploring.
Hey there. I've been out of the 2+2 posting scene for a while, partly due to being very much into the WoW scene as of late. Over the past year or so I've been playing quite a bit, and now have five level 70 characters on a pvp realm; a priest, a shaman, a druid, a paladin, and a mage.

Based on my experience, there is a pretty minor difference between the various classes in terms of leveling speed; particularly with the (relatively) recent changes to make 1-60 exp faster and make quests reward more experience, as well as the elimination of lots of elite mobs in various parts of the questing world.

My fastest character to level so far has been my mage; who reached 70 in about 6.5 days played, leveling using primarily a frost spec. Second fastest was my druid, who took about 7.5 days played to 70, primarily using a feral spec. My paladin, leveled using ret. spec took about 9 days, pretty similar to my enhancement shaman. Finally, my priest took about 12 days to level, but he was my first character so much of that time was spent exploring and running old world instances.

I'd be more than happy to offer any specific help regarding leveling, but overall my advice would be to quest, quest and more quest...and to stay away from grouping and running ANY instances before Outland (lvl 58).

If anyone else plays on Kil'Jaeden I'd love to hear from ya, btw =)

ya it's all about questing before outland because gear doesnt really matter all that much below lvl 60. instances are basically a waste of time.

is anyone playing on stormreaver?

swede,

Pretty much trying to quit the WoW scene. I agree with your recommendations, but you really ought to try leveling a hunter or a warlock. I think you'll find quite a difference, esp in regards to running red quests and killing elites solo. I thought you were playing Eve pretty hardcore for a while?

This is my problem, I get way too into whatever game I'm playing at the moment...no time for two MMOs at once. Also, EVE was a bit too hardcore in terms of PVP for my tastes...spending a week gathering up money/gear to outfit a badass ship, only to have it destroyed in 10 seconds by some ganker, with nothing you can do about it whatsoever! That took the game from fun to frustrating real fast. Yeah yeah, I shouldn't have been in low-sec space by myself like that, but still.

Regarding the leveling process, I'm actually working on a lock now. Obviously they have some advantages in survivability compared to other classes, but frankly the lack of movement speed increases early on (compared to druids, Shamans, hunters or even paladins) really hurt the leveling speed when focusing on quests primarily.

Almost approaching 10k gold. Oh yea, also epic flyer. Did I say it took me less than 2 months?!

I have like 350 gold now or so and I'm about 39.5.

So I guess in a day or two I'll have a bit less when I get my mount. I can't wait to get back to owning the auction house.

Variance iyam. Doing dailies will get you your epic flyer in less than 1 month, earlier if you do all 25 per day.

True, but when 40 comes and you don't have to dick around with getting 100g for a mount, you'll be pretty happy with your choice. Plus, never having to use up a bag slot for a mount must be nice.

(No, you can't play the soul shard card with me, I'm a hunter, I also have a bag filled with 1 specific item.)

I binked 40 tonight and got my mount. I still had like 350 gold or something after paying for training/the mount.

Going to sell a few hundred more gold worth of crap at the AH.

What the hell do I do now? From when I was 20 my goal was to get the mount. Now I have it and I don't have many goals. Anything cool at 50? 60? Best places to quest?

Feralas/Hinterlands/Tanaris for questing, though hinterlands may be a bit high.

I forget what class you were, but you always get something cool at the multiples of 10 level. Even if it's just a quest in a dungeon that gets you a cool blue.

Goggles,
You'll find with your mount that you will be questing faster and gaining gold faster because of the less time it takes to get around.

Next goal is 60 and getting the Burning Crusade and questing in the Outlands. Then from there it is level 70.

Do you play battlegrounds? I would suggest to casually play them every now and then when you are at the top of your tier, for example, around 47, do a few battlegrounds when you're getting bored of questing.

BTW, I haven't played in about 2 weeks. Got tired of grinding honor. I'm almost there for S1 gladiator head, but I wasn't enjoying it too much. Then I started a NE Rogue and found that having to run everywhere is getting old fast.....or should I say slow?

Ahh! Don't say that! I'm about to start the month long honor grind for a new bow. I figure an easy 1k per day will get me the 27k I need sooner or later.. >.>

1k a day is a snap but that honor grind for the s1 weapon really sucks. now that you can turn in medals for honor it's a hell of alot easier.

goggles:

if you PvP ever, you might consume your time getting an arena trinket:

http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?wquest=7838

it is prolly the most powerful trinket at low levels. popping this babe mid battle can really create a loss into a victory.

if you are a level 40, you can grind in stranglethorn veil (till mid 40's prolly) and try to pick up this thing whenever the chest drops. though it can be time consuming if you are not stationed in STV (flying and what not).

the chest usually drops a few other items, somtime you can get a nice rare item, or a decent uncommon item that can be sold from 5g - 50g (on my server) .

if your just trying to level to 70, this trinket might not be worth the time.
