OT, just made my Turbo-Charged Flying Machine.. When are they gonna come out with a car/go-kart ground mount for engineers?

(Is it weird that I think of engineers in WoW as the dorkiest of dorks?)

it's more fun to level a rogue with stealthish spec, mainhand dagger and offhand sword, imo

Might be more fun but combat swords is definitely the fastest for leveling.

*sigh* still trying to beat the auction house.

I've been buying items that DE into dream dust and greater nether essences. They usually cost about 1.3-1.4 gold per item to DE, and the greater essences fetch about 4.5G each (and you can potentially get 2). I bought like 30 of them and probably got about 4 GNEs.

Sigh variance.

I also have about 30 stacks of strange dust in my bank because the prices have been driven down really, really low.

I started a hunter on Saturday and hit lvl 15 last night. It kinda sucks because I was all ready to sell my druid and now i'm freaking hooked again.

Seems pretty obvious, but this may help a little bit. It doesn't really give any specifics, more of a general guide. Plus there are all sorts of links on the left hand side of places to farm once you hit 70.

I think to play the AH is one of those, 'you need money to make money' situations.
Hence why I never got into it.

You can start off with a relatively small amount like 10g and run it up fairly quickly. 100g and you'll be buying whatever you want to resell within a week at most.

Back when I was reaserching the AH I found several ways you could make money:

Selling pets was a common one.
specifically:

http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=29363

some dude on thottbot said he sells these things like w/i one hour of putting them up.

I personally have had some luck w/ ancona chickens.

http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.ht...23;source=live

I try to make @ least like 5-6g on each sale. I have sold some for like 12-15g.

Selling Pets is no sure bet though IMO. Market is smaller, and it it is easy for someone to put one up for less gold, thus hindering your sale. I just do this b/c I'm a level 33, and cant really earn gold effectively (like 70s can).

My bro sits all day and trades shards, plants, hides, and cloths... Seemes tedious and boring, but his lvl 70 got an epic mount as soon as he leveled, and he still had like 7k gold sitting around. Plus he has like 3 characters who's entire inventory is filled up with items. Important to note: he spends a hell of a lot of time on the AH, and loves it.

I usually do this:

Filter AH for rare items (blue)
search armor and weapons for mispriced or low priced items.
So far I have gotten an Underworld Band for ~1g, Beguiler Robes for like ~75s, and some other items way below MP prices.

http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=1980
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=7728

I spend very little time doing this. No more than 3-5 minutes a day.
I'm trying to be a 39 twink, so I don't do much grinding.

My bro uses some addon called auctioneer (I think). I dont like it, and I dont use it. But he considers himself a "pro AH trader" , so maybe it is a good addon?

I sometimes use wow economy if I have no idea what this item is worth (despite thottbot and alakazam research): http://www.wowecon.com/

Also, my bro explained to me 1 time why selling armor and weapons in the AH is a bad thing (opposed to trading, or CODing it), but I forgot why that is.

He also has a list of ppl (w/ notes on them) that sell stuff regularly (maybe stuff they crafted, or leather they skinned, etc...) and he often times does business directly w/ them.

I think a good strategy, if you love the AH, would be to have characters on several servers, b/c often times after 10-20 minutes of surfing your AH you are kinds of spinning in circles.

I think if you are good at the AH, you can make alot of gold.
I have also heard that tayloring and DEing certain items can yield a ton of gold. (unfortunatly I forgot the particular items).

Main thing I WOuld say is: google/reaserch
then: expirement on the AH, and find your own niche.

I don't have much gold (like about 90g maybe?). But it has slowly been building up just from doing what I do (and running a few instances/leveling).

Also, always pick up stuff that drops (even if the armor/recipe looks dumb). On my server (tichondrius) uncommon (green) lvl 29 cloth armor can easily go for over 20g.

What class do you guys think is the fastest to level from 1-70? Is there a clear cut winner, or are they all about the same?
Does anyone play WoW? Quote

i think pally is slowest.
my lock has been leveling pretty fast from the 1-35 range so far. IDK about the second half though....

Also IMO it would depend on your experience w/ the class. Like maybe a rogue can level faster than a lock. But since I have already played a lock, I will prolly level faster with the lock, even though in theory the rogue can level faster.

There are other factors on this (such as the type of people who choose different class) but "Druids are consistently the slowest levelers. Priests, mages, and shamans are consistently the fastest levelers. "

My perception is that the fastest levellers are those that have the least downtime and can do the most damage, which strikes me as being mages, shamans and hunters.

Mista Voight, tell your brother to help me learn how to use Auctioneer? I use it as a baseline for what items I can profitably buyout to DE, but other than that I don't know what the hell it's for.

Hit the 'scan' button to have it scan all auctions on the AH at least once a day or so, and it builds a database of previous auction prices for things. You then have a reference point for when something is extremely under- or over-priced, etc.

I find it invaluable, as I do a ton of solo questing/grinding/farming, and I can unload all of my stuff on the AH without a lot of manual research for pricing, etc.

There are other functions, like bottomscan, which can constantly scan auctions and alert you when something is below a certain price threshhold, and even automatically purchase that stuff for you. I've never used that part, but it seems like it would be valuable for someone devoting time to playing the market.

Locks and hunters, hands down. Anything with a pet that doesn't take much damage is going to level fairly quickly, as this does away with downtime. Hunters may have a slight edge since they don't really need to use mana that often.

Probably the cut from the sale the AH takes.

Hunter is #1 fastest, rogue/lock tied foe 2nd.

Mages have so much downtime, theyre faster than pallys and druids but still pretty slow.

I think hunters and locks are pretty much a wash as far as #1 goes. Have never levelled a rogue so cant speak to that. Druids arent the fastest but they effectively have no downtime so they arent too painfully slow, unlike pallys.

Rogues are heller fast if you know what you're doing. I don't think it matters now that they made it so easy to level. My first char, a 60 shaman wayyyy back at release, took 14 days of play time to level and I was in the first wave of 60s.

And f going out of your way to make money whilst leveling up. I made a very decent amount of money leveling up all my chars, then I just shipped it all once I hit 60/70. I made money at 70 by selling my arena teams, but that obv takes a long time to get to that point.

While I respect that everyone has a view, some evidence beyond "I reckon" might be nice.

Well basically the most respected powerleveller (Joanna) only uses hunters.

Also as you get to know the game you get faster and faster at levelling. If a hunter was your first character and a druid is your 2nd, I would guess your druid ends up levelling a lot faster because you dick around a lot less getting lost and exploring.

I only went out of my way to do mining and stuff. Rather than getting to 38 and wasting time "making money" to get your mount at 40, just grind to 45 and get your mount then.
