downloaded it yesterday. the writing/voice acting is really good ****. the combat takes a little getting used to. i literally had to rebind a couple keys it was tilting me.

but yea im just on regular mode, but theres easy and 2 harder modes also. game seems challenging enough if you are doing it like me and getting 0 help from outside sources for quests etc. these fire slugs just beat the **** out of my whole party. i mean i find it kinda hard right now on normal, but most games are harder earlier. if it gets too easy ill regret not playing on hard, but it seems ****in hard enough for me now.

graphically looks pretty damn nice, i got it all maxed to see.

made my own custom char/went battlemage and my party has a knight a cleric and a rogue. i was going to make her a shadowblade or whatever but rogue seems really strong.

so far pretty enjoyable, seems like it going to be quite a long game.

It's a super long game for this genre. They usually last a lot less than 50+ hours.

For the class stuff: you'll actually get a lot of points for "skills" (and you can re-specialize at will around lvl 9+), so your starting choice isnt absolutely vital.

And imo if you really want to finish some quests you shouldnt be averse to googling them unless you really enjoy reading the books for quests or your quest log, there are quite a few puzzles or maybe you'll forget where NPCs are or their names, etc.

true, if i get really stuck ill consider it for sure.

i like figuring out things by losing a bunch first, i dunno why i feel like its so much sweeter when you finally beat it or find it out for yourself. thats how i basically learned poker too, minimal training and trial by fire.

Not played the game but from reading reviews, one of the key features of the game is that you can kill anyone and not break the quest line.

Played it for awhile but ended up uninstalling. Combat is great, story seems ok and there's a lot to do.

There are just so many small annoying things that could be improved on imo. I spent so much time searching rooms for something I could interact with, and sometimes I'd even google to try to find out wtf I was supposed to interact with and still not figure it out.

Also I finished several quests in the first area, then got to the second area and they all disappeared. I had no idea how I was supposed to have activated them or whatever in the first area.

Seems like there's some very easy improvements which could be made to make the game less frustrating. I think it's a superior game to PoE, but PoE was far less annoying.

Also I didn't particularly like the story in this game :/ Everything seems derivative, and the overall progression is the exact same as PoE which is annoying.

I'll probably give it a try in a few months after some patches or at least some guides have been put up. I hate using guides, but it beats staring at the screen searching the scenery.

hey guys, anyone managed to fix the issue with absurdly long loading times? quick google search revealed that a ton of people has the same problem (games takes 15-30 minutes (!) to load once you reach act 2), but noone provided a sensible solution. I thought that it was just my old pos pc, but that does not seem to be the case.

btw Ill do a quick write-up once I'll actually manage to continue playing, but so far the game is amazing, playing on tactician difficulty and the fight are just extremely satisfying to pilot through

Happened to me once, no mods installed. I moved all saves (except the last one) to another folder and it fixed it for me.

Might be worth a try. Other than that it takes me a few seconds to load.

you mean, you essentially removed all the saves except the newest one from the game? Thanks, I'll try that.

Everything was working perfectly until I moved on to the 2nd act. Specifically, after

Spoiler:
the boat and my team came back from hall of echoes

I hit a super long loading screen, and every load attempt since that (Im maybe one hour into driftwood) takes absurdly long.

i did notice it getting longer loads. getting rid of saves helped a bit. never experienced anything more than 20 seconds tho.

Getting ready to give this another go. Anyone have any tips on good builds/parties or anything?

K just died on honour mode. ugh

This game might have the stupidest combat of any rpg I've ever played. The combat itself is fun, but it's made so that having a balanced party is an awful strategy. I guess I could intentionally gimp myself, but nah. I'll be go all melee for damage and everything else healer/support.

I completely agree with that except for one thing.

They really balance enemies well on their type of armor.

Like, even at the end of the game some mobs will almost have zero magic armor which means if you had one spellcaster you could completely own those and control them

I ran into a little bit of that at the end of chapter 1 but my all melee team still mopped up. The problem is that even if an enemy is weak to magic it has to be weak enough that it goes down in one turn to my magic user. Haven't seen that yet. It's just much more economical to bash everything with one type of damage.

Only fight I had trouble with so far was slane the dragon. He kept freezing everyone and for a second I thought I was going to lose, but I managed to cheese my way out of it.

Now that I'm in act 2 and can respec any time I want I'm more worried that I do something stupid like walk into death fog or some other mechanic like that and get my save erased.

This game get harder as it progresses or easier? Fatal flaw of so many RPGs
Divinity original sin 2 Quote

i think this one got easier if i recall correctly.

I agree that especially this type of RPG is extremely hard to balance especially with different # of group members and scaling (AoE, too much healing, etc.)

If you don't rush through the game and find yourself severely under leveled or under equipped these games almost always get easier as you progress. When you've got more talents and access to equipment you can really build some strong classes.

For tactician games most of the challenge comes from the beginning when you have no access to equipment or talents, and then later on it's npc cheese like charm and instant death.

Also of course bad game mechanics... my second death and restart was due to letting myself die so my guy would self resurrect and I could win the fight the next time, but apparently even if you do self resurrect it still triggers the file delete.

Ugh got to the sawmill area and saw some great upgrades, but then after exploring the place I triggered the next part of the quest and had to kill everyone.

Been carrying around so much crap to offload but can't find a decent merchant.
