I'm really curious why it got canned.

Well you lose. But I'm sure that's not uncommon for you. Welcome to ignore.

"Indefinitely Postponed" but I'm very doubtful they'll ever return to it, even though they say it has a good story, blah blah blah.

imho, they decided the use of their developmental resources was better spent elsewhere, rather than making a so-so shooter.

I spent so many hours with Diablo 2 that I think D2 burnout is going to reach me from 'Beyond the grave' on D3 and I'm going to get tired of it faster than normal.

I'm going to a try a new method this time around where I don't play 8 hours a time.

Ditto. Even when I have the time, I don't have the interest for sessions like that anymore. Which is probably best for a game like D2 especially.

I agree with you, sir. That's exactly how I felt when trying D3.

This kind of worries me. Games done just right often immerse gamers quickly and make them feel some kind of weird joy about being in the game's vibrant alternate world even if the game is retreading very old ground. There's some sort of charm or energy there. Blizzard's generally been very good at making creating game worlds you love to be in. I felt that in WC1 and 2, in Diablo 1 and 2, and in WoW even after playing years of Everquest, which I consider a far superior game. I wonder if you're not getting this feeling with D3 not because there is D3 mechanics are any duller than they have ever been, but because there is a lack of vibrancy and depth and just plain charm in the game world. Your comments make me wonder if, this time, the game is being built this time by mechanics instead of artists.

I don't want to give that impression, because I don't think that's the case. The little bit I saw of the world (Just one small overworld area and a dungeon) were quite impressive. Interesting to look at and also functional. That along with the lore books makes me feel like that they are indeed invested in making this game world quite vibrant! I'd give them an "A" for world design based on what I saw so far. Now of course that's very preliminary, but I wouldn't be worried about that aspect just yet.

A must read? Really? I knew there was a reason I was skeptical.

9/9/09 is way too early for a release date considering the work being put into SC2. But hey, I'd be pleasantly surprised, and it would be a nice gimmick with the inverted 666.

If the only change from D2 to D3 was unlimited storage (or just a very large one) and an additional section in the game menu where you could have a storage to swap between all your characters, then I'd be fine paying top $ for it.

I spent quite awhile trying to find Sigon's Complete Steel and found tons of sick set items that are made for other characters. The storage is too freaking small. My stash is packed with gems and runes and I have no room for anything else. My favorite part of the game is finding sh*t. Would love to be able to keep everything good even if I never use it.

Yeah for me, the storage space in D2 even with LOD expansion is so frustratingly small that I can only play single player so I can use ATMA to have unlimited storage. Having a game revolve around item collecting -- especially connected sets of items -- and giving you too little room to store anything is very stupid.

I would be very surprised if they don't gyp you on the storage space in the first round of D3 so they can put it in a D3 expansion you'll feel almost forced to buy.

When I played without the expansion, it was hard enough. Thought the extra storage was awesome, but they added the damn runes, so that alone took up most the extra space.

I'd be fine with paying for additional storage only. And then paying for an expansion pack when it comes out.

Yeah TBH I probably will only play for a little bit, maybe not even a complete run through, if they cheap out on the storage space. And I'll probably play it almost entirely single player so I can use something like ATMA unlimited storage space when a utility gets written.

This is one of my biggest pet peeves in video games.

STORAGE SPACE SHOULD NOT BE A COMMODITY

It also assumes that Blizzard knew the release date for D3 when they were making LOD, which is pretty ridiculous even as far as stupid conspiracy theories go.

It doesn't take a genius to realize that there is a 0% chance D3 is released in 2009 anyway.

There is no release date set for SC2 and Diablo 3 no matter what you have read. They release it when its ready is what they always say
