There's a confirmed security issue with D3. There's no IP or invalid password lock but there is one that exists in WoW.

Every single person here is susceptible to having their e-mail address and password cracked by a simple brute force attack.

It's possible for anyone to get the entire list of bnet e-mail lists according to an MVP poster.

Yeah, the number of threads about people being hacked is way higher than normal, this isn't jsut a few dumb asses who DL'ed trojans or something.

There's somethign afoot, I got strange party requests from people I had no idea who they were and when I viewed their account profile it was a level 1 toon with a gibberish name, like a bunch of ASCII characters, which aren't allowed, and why would a level 1 be asking me to a party, it happened soon after I got to 50 and into hell. I of course declined and it asked like 2 more times and I blocked whatever it was.

So don't accept party invites from random folk, there's some sort of security issue afoot for sure.

These people are kinda stupid, they should have sat on it till after the RMAH launched.

I don't know if it'll matter, but I just changed my password to something ridiculous that I had to write down, otherwise, I'll never remember.

The other day I had someone request an invite to my pub group. I thought it was a 2p2er, since I had Quick Join off.

I accepted, not thinking about it. They came in, left about 20 seconds later. Then tried to request a join again and I denied it. It was a weird name like llwegynj.

I haven't had any problems with my account though.

The best thing you can do against a brute force password attack is to make it as many characters as you can.

Your password should be literally a sentence that contains numbers and characters like #@&^%@! thrown in.

There's nothing you can do to prevent someone from getting your e-mail address associated to your b-net account (this is part 1 of the vulnerability). It's super important that everyone changes their e-mail password ASAP if it's the same as your bnet account.

For those of you that cannot remember a complex password or are too lazy to write one down, at least start you passwords with a symbol rather then character or number.

Further down the ASCII list, longer a brute force usually takes.

should charge ppl to help do that. like 75% of the gold they get from all the runs u do.

its still worth it for both you and them.

Deal was we'd do it for each other so each person gets 2 more lvl 60's. Figure try to do this before it gets patched in someway. That way I don't have to run through the game with a WD or Monk.

I don't think an MVP poster saying that makes it any more true than any other random forum poster, tbh.

Clearly something is going on, but whatever it is, Blizz ain't saying anything, are they?

And wizards are nerfed!

If the incoming attack does more than your max HP, force armor does not work.

Demon Hunters' Smoke Screen also nerfed. Now it lasts only 1 second (2 for lingering fog). Why isn't there any communication from Blizzard about what changes they are making? At least fix the blasted tooltip.

Where would I go to farm significantly better gear than what I ended Hell with if I wanted to be able to even start playing in Inferno?

I've killed 1 wretched mother and I've already died about 10 times.

basic question - what exactly is weapon damage? which number are the skills using? about to drop all my gold on a new wep and i want to know if attack speed matters for skills like revenge

So about 1AM it was posted that Boon of Protection was being hotfixed (Monk) due to it being 10 times stronger than Blizzard wanted it to be.

They essentially nerfed it to the point of removing it.

And from that same post they should have a list of the hotfixes out by today or tomorrow...not sure what 'tomorrow' means based on the time of the post.

They also say:

Quote:
"Let me follow up by saying that in general class balance is an ongoing investigation, and by no means do we believe the game is now perfect, but we're also seeing evidence that supports (with a few nerfs to wizard and demon hunter) the monk and barbarian are not as bad off as they seem."
Seriously? Not as bad off as they seem?

I could be out of melee range of a mob and still get hit because of the lag. They can't say that melee classes aren't struggling, but maybe things change once you gear up towards the max. I don't know.

But then he says:

Quote:
"Maybe we're wrong, maybe there's no current chance for monk or barbarian to compete with ranged, but our current suspicion is that's incorrect and until we know for sure we're not going to turn any dials."
Yeah they know....

But I guess their intended purpose for the Barb was:

Quote:
The concept of the barb is that he survives through a huge health pool, and healing himself through damage (%life on hit stats), which is potentially a bit obvious with all the life return skills but can't be overstated.
Which makes sense except that in my experience my %life hasn't scaled very well, but then again I just hit inferno and have suckass gear.

But it's still the same that the seeming lag that I get -- sucked back into the mobs, being out of melee range and still being hit -- doesn't help you at all with %life when you're not matching that with damage, so I guess the real way to play the game is to build up a huge health pool, get some %life on your gear, maybe some resistances, add all your +life abilities, and just stand in there and whack away.

The MVP didn't discover it. It was a discovered by someone who does security audits for a living. He wrote about it briefly in a post but then edited most of it out.

Go read all of Glides' posts. The MVP just confirmed it.
