What is that from?

Since I'm not staying up all night, going to sleep early will make tmw morning come faster.

I'll probably be up at 7 and plan on playing the majority of the day.

question:

I happened to find myself looking at a couple of the ingame items and people were talking about "near perfect items" or something like that. I'm assuming they are talking about the +Random properties.

How do you know what is perfect and what is it based on? What exactly do they mean and how do I know once I start playing?

EDIT: They were talking about the Windforce http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/item/windforce

What is the likelihood of ever finding that as a drop?

FX,
There's no way to tell really. That's what makes diablo fun. You might find it within 30 seconds of entering a zone that has monsters high enough to drop that item or you might not find it after 2 years of game play.

Ok, so not a great chance. I didn't think it was that high, considering WoW has legendary items with a small drop rate.

But I'm more interested in the main part of my question.

What does "near perfect items" mean and how do I know?

It means if say an item's possible stats are +11-20 DEX, +5-8% MF, the item you get is +20 DEX, +8% MF. Getting the upper range of the item's possible stats.

A perfect windforce will have all the stats maxed. So in your link the dps would be 909.1 or whatever. the picture gives you a range of what can be rolled.

In that link you posted there are item ranges which are determined on drop. I assume they mean that each of those ranges is near the max.

Wouldn't a perfect item have all the best prefixes

There's also the issue of how good a Windforce it is. With millions of people playing, you'll see countless Windforce's on the AH after a few weeks.

However with the variable stats listed, you've got like a 1 in 100,000+ chance of getting something close to 'perfect'. This is what keeps the Diablo item game viable for years. The difference between an average Windforce and a great Windforce will probably be a factor of 100 in $$$ terms.

So I purchased the game via Blizzard Store and it allowed me to download the game (which I was able to download in about 35 minutes which is really fast), but it said that I needed to give them a verification key (cd-key) or whatever. I never got one in my emails. I am assuming that my account is automatically activated?

There's a wiki where you can find the range of possible values for an item stat (i.e. +10-15 damage) on a "unique" class item (usually has some fixed stats and some variable) . So you just look at your item and see if the variable stats are on the high or low side of the range. Something like windforce has very few variable stats (I think only mana leech 4-6%). Other items might have 5-6 stats that have a range of 50 (i.e. +100-150% damage, +200-250 attack rating, +9-12% life leech etc.) that make perfect stats more rare.

Regarding stats - pretty sweet. I failed to notice the range of ranges. I was looking at it like (for example) 100 - 150 DPS would be the variable on hit. I now realize that there is a range of the range and thinking about how the DPS was on the weapons, it was one number. Cool. I'm sure later in the game I'll be comparing every drop that I get.

Yes, just let it go and it'll continue the install.
