(Grunching, but I'll go back and read this thread.) Grabbed Diablo III as a black friday deal. Anyone have any tips for new players? I played Diablo II very quickly right after it was released, but don't remember a thing. Anything to keep in mind or that's good to know in the early game?

I played 20-40 minutes of DH, Necro and Crusader and think I like Crusader best early fwiw.

Found this to be really useful for character builds and gear sets to aim for etc

I'm not up on what is the latest best build but Crusader with a Thorns build is fun.

But yeah just play through the campaign once at your own speed then you can look up guides. Season 16 probably starts in a few weeks.

That reminds me, what does Season 16 mean? If I started a Season 15 character this weekend, will I not be able to play him anymore once 16 starts?

Edit: answered my own question: https://www.reddit.com/r/diablo3/com...haracter_when/

Season 16 changing a lot of things.

I'm not up to date on D3 stuff, but I saw all of the set damage bonuses were getting increased like 500-600% to encourage cross set builds, instead of just moving to the 6 piece.

Scrap the game and join us over at Path of Exile instead. Its the game that diablo 3 was supposed to be.

yeah the PTR was up for only a week over thanksgiving. there may be another one towards christmas i guess, but a LOT of sets were doing GR 100's fairly easily on 800 paragon on the streams.

if anyone is thinking about playing s16 on pc(america) hit me up Slighted #1568.

starts friday 1/18. looks like every set is getting buffs except (crusader akhan and necros). Ring of royal Grandeur season, so everyone gets a free buff to use one less set item.

should be fun with more choices of things to play to 105+ GR's

Finished up the 5 acts a week ago, had a blast with this game. It was the first one I've played in a while where I kept saying "just one more floor/area" and ended up playing an extra hour+ after I meant to quit. I played a Crusader, and had a blast with lots of the skills. I played with the female version who sounded and looked like Brienne of Tarth from GoT. The absolute best time was my Captain America phase, around level 45 when I got a weapon or shield that removed the mana cost for shield throw, allowing me to use that as my main attack and just wreck the screen with bouncing shields from across the room. I kept that weapon way longer than I should have . The game seemed pretty easy - I died a half dozen times when I got trapped in a narrow space against a yellow enemy, but I could always resurrect right there, move a little bit out of the corner and finish them off. Never died twice. I never grinded, never did an area twice, but I always felt a little overpowered. I think I finished the game on Torment 1.

After that I started a Wizard and a Witch Doctor and did some bounties, plus a couple of rifts with my crusader. The witch doctor I got to ~level 40 and that was super fun. I also loved the special old tristram event with the old school graphics, that was a super fun find.

Unfortunatley, I'm having to retire. I have an daunting games backlog of Dead Cells, God of War, Spiderman, Dark Souls 3, Batman Arkham Knight, Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild. I only get 3-5 hours a week to play, and given there's no real stopping point in Diablo I figure now's as good a time as any. If I had more time I would definitely be investing many more hours in this though, it's great fun. (If anyone hasn't tried Dead Cells yet btw, I loaded that up the other night and it's great so far.)

The great farce that was early implementations of Inferno difficulty. That poor kid does an excellent impression of the meta. Just don't get hit and you can't get one-shot!

My personal solution was a Life on Hit Withdoctor build using Rain of Toads to be functionally immortal, but it taking 3 minutes to kill anything.

I remember when I first got Diablo kill on Inferno it was basically ~100 tries or something like that (a few hours at least) and it was mostly about not getting hit. Maybe one hit here or there was survivable, but not much more.

Was an exciting experience though for some reason.
