Are you saying you can possibly go to someone in the tower to upgrade my stuff further using materials I have picked up? I don't have a ton of materials but I have collected a bit here and there from when I played the levels. I guess I was more trying to get weapon drops and all that seemed to happen was I was beating one strike and one piece of armor would maybe get bumped up to a 1.2 version with a tad better stat (possibly light but sometimes not).

Yes I am on the ps4
You should always focus on bounties, even when in a faction.
However, I'd personally recommend to delay joining a faction until your vanguard and crucible is at level 3.
I made a switch somewhere early, then back again (because I wanted crucible rep), and sat on 200 vanguard marks for a long time until I could spend them.

It is somewhat slow in the beginning to get beyond 20, then slows down again around 27/28. Don't bother beating strikes just for better gear - it'll take ages for a marginally better drop - do it for the other goodies like mats, ascendants and coins. Aim to hit vanguard/crucible reps and then spend those marks to up your gear.
By doing as many bounties as possible, you have a higher chance of getting exotic weapon bounties.

Check for the latest players list somewhere in this thread, add your PSN to it. People always happy to form a fire team and help each other out.

I'll need some assistance some time next year after getting the 500 spread with void weaps in crucible. :P

you can push the touchpad button like you are going to orbit and "abandon objective" then go find a new green mission thing instead of going to orbit and rejoining the patrol

Here's the abbreviated version.

If you don't play Crucible regularly then don't worry about joining a faction yet. Work on getting your Vanguard rank up to lvl 3. Let me(Evil_Trev) know if you need any help with the Daily. I don't play Crucible so I'm usually open between 7-11pm est(week days) to help out if needed.

The best way I've found to get blue engrams is to do the patrol bounties. Find and remember the location of a group of baddies(usually works best if there's +5 of them) and then take them all out as fast as possible. It seems like I get a lot of blue engrams doing that. Once you memorize those locations then you can go back after completing the patrol bounty and start farming for engrams. As dave said, don't do the patrols that require you to scan something. You'll have to travel from 1 side of the map to the other and it's not really worth the time when you can just go to Orbit and come back to get a different patrol mission.

I don't think there's an NPC in the Tower that helps out on upgrading. You need to collect items(which you already know) for upgrading. Once you meet the requirements then you'll be able to upgrade.
Sorry to hear about the browser closing thank you for the reply! I do not play crucible at all, only pve so yeah that will work if you are able to join. My s/n is spimp13 and I am not sure how or when I can get people to play. You brought up a good point to which I tested with no luck so far. I tried to farm the ember cave area to do exactly what you mentioned. The enemies did re spawn (a lot slower than the video I watched), but 0 drops. Is there an area you are talking about in particular that you are able to farm to get the blue engrams or do those only really start appearing when I hit vanguard level 2? I am only level 1 now with a long way to go to level 2 and am at level 20...about 3/4 to level 21. Whenever I do the weekly it says 1-3 players but it is only just me and doesn't give me the option to try to find more to play...

Thanks for the post...am I correct that if I am doing patrols it is best to do it on Mars because you get more points that way vs the earlier planets? I will try to find the list here...but I am fairly low on level and only play 3-4 times a week at night (Work 8-5) so they may not want a low level player lol. Cheers boys

I started noticing more blue engrams dropping once I got my Vanguard rank to lvl 2. I'm not sure if it's the way the game is programmed or I just started paying more attention to them. The best place I found for farming engrams is on Earth. There's a group of Dregs/Vandals that comes out of a building(with the stairs to go under ground) that's basically straight ahead of the beginning spawn point. It's the only place I've found that regularly drops blue engrams. I've tried some of the other places that's been talked about or shown on youtube but my luck hasn't been as good. .

For doing the Daily/Weekly you need to set up a fire team to get other people involved otherwise you'll be doing it solo unless you get lucky enough to find a random person to help out. If you start out solo and someone starts helping then you can try to invite them to your fire team. Get them on screen and press R3/options and invite them. If they accept then you'll be working together. If they decline then you're solo again but at least you got some help. I've never started a fire team before starting the mission so I'm not really sure how it works.

Focus on getting your Vanguard rank to at least 2(3 would be better) and collect as many marks as possible every day. Try to max out your weekly limit b/c by not playing Crucible you're basically left with getting most of your items from the Vanguard NPCs and you'll need all the marks you can get.

Cool thanks. I actually think I know the spot on earth you are talking about as it was another one of the videos I watched similar to the ember caves that didn't work. It is possible it will work better for drops once I hit level 2 so that will be my next goal. I do enjoy the teamwork stuff I have done on a strike, I just want to get better weapons and gear as it seems I am a bit behind on what I should have being close to leveling to 21. Thanks for the post. I'll try some stuff here tonight for a bit to mess with the patrols/bounties.

That's also my go-to spot for completing the previously pesky "kill two enemies with one fusion rifle shot 20x" bounty.
They spawn behind the staircase, run around it, then up the stairs. Clear them, go downstairs head straight through the door and onto the next stairs. As soon as the red blip shows up on radar, go around the corner and they're neatly aligned for fusion shots while running towards you.

rgts and dwn2f for last night's nightfall

for those who haven't done it, arc sniper is certainly the way to go. my unleveled blue sniper was doing 1250 a shot on phogoth and my icebreaker was only going for like 850.

I believe Catfan can get to lvl 30 if Xur sells the exotic gloves or if he finds the raid gloves! The push to lvl 30 is real!

Same thing I did for that bounty the only time I've done it. I hate the fusion rifle so much that I only have 1 now and it's in storage probably never to be used again.

My favourite location for that one is the first mission on the Moon, "The Dark Beyond" set to level 9 heroic. Though it's a tiny bit cheesey.

Do the first part, kill some fallen ambush, activate sparrow. Drive to second area, activate ghost. Drive to third area, where there's a short cutscene and then the huge doorway opens - "We've woken the Hive!!!". Many Thralls pour out of the doorway ripe to be blasted with fusion rifle shots, so blast away! Just don't kill the Knight, and when you've run out of Thralls let him kill you. You'll restart the encounter right away, and blast more Thralls. Usually I can get the overcharge bounty done in 2 deaths.

If you then go to orbit instead of killing the Knight and completing the last part, it saves your checkpoint there so next time the bounty comes up you can knock it out in ~3 minutes

That's a bit more than a little cheesy. It's the blue cheese of cheesiness.

Glad I'm not lactose intolerant b/c I'll be checking it out the next time I only have that bounty left.
