I can't believe this game doesn't have more people excited in this forum. It's a pretty amazing game, I can't wait for the release. I forgot I was playing the beta version and gave myself blue balls.

I just bought a PS4 today and preorderd Destiny just by going on what a guy at the store was telling me.

I know nothing about the game but if it's as good as he made it sound then I can't wait for the release.

Could someone give a dumbed down version of what this game is all about? I've been lightly following the thread and trying to watch streams, but I just don't get it. To me it looks like another FPS, but then I see people playing PvE? What is the appeal? Being a FPS doesn't make it look too appealing. What sets this game apart from all of the other games out there?

To me from the streams I've seen is a Borderlands game with a lot less loot.

The game is pretty decent but I can't see myself buying it unless the new Call of Duty is awful.

Cant believe that with all the burns, people still pre order.

Had a buddy swear that you could play this game on PS4 and Xbox One with the same people. As in you play on an Xbox and at the same time I'm in your game on a PS4.

Anyone know if this is true, did a bit of looking couldn't find anything.

Not true. no shared online.

What you can do is move your characters between gen, since they are stored server side. People have found they can start play on PS4, log in on PS3 and continue, then back to PS4 for example. 360 <-> One / PS3 <-> PS4, no cross-brand characters either.

Scheduled maintenance makes for a boring evening have to suffer the same fate tomorrow too! I tried to log in at one point tonight and there were 110k PS4 players in queue lolm doing nothing but watching a spinning circle and listening to the music. Checked BF4stats at the time, 30k players online PS4. This game will shatter sales records I should think.

I also am surprised. The beta OT thread(s) on neogaf have moved at an insane pace. I expect there will be more action itt on Thursday when it hits xbox?

Similar for me but opposite. I will have this day1, and realistically I'll have COD too unless I see a few reviews say "much worse than ghosts" lol. I actually think what we've seen so far of COD looks great. High hopes for now

But I put a few hours in to the PVP on Destiny and it reminded me how much things I hate in COD multiplayer that are fixed in this. I love that your teammates have a marker over them ALWAYS. In COD it comes and goes, and 9 times out of 10 I will hesitate trying to tell if the brown-camo person ahead is friend or foe, then die. or give away my position shooting a friendly. I'm bad at COD lol. but this doesn't happen here, and I love that. I love that you can see enemy health when you line then up in your sights. I mostly like the slightly ambiguous radar. I love the lack of killstreaks (arguably supers are killstreak, and I'd agree - but they're still attached to the person).. I like the lack of grenade spam, for now. I like how one of the modes equalizes levelling, so by brand new character was mostly able to hold his own. While the other mode (event) had level advantage enabled, so my first character with all her skills and gear could fight similarly levelled players hard. I like the ammo system, mostly - particularly that if you change your loadout it resets your special / heavy ammo, so you gotta go find some more. Tempers instant class switch to a hard counter. But allows the nicety of switching guns mid-game without needing to die.

Bot sure what "burns" means in this context. Anyhow, most will have preordered on Amazon and cancelled as soon as the beta codes arrived in email. Or (as in my case) at least retain option to cancel up until last minute, Amazon charge nothing until a preorder ships. I might cancel mine, but not because I won't be buying the game - more likely since I will want it as soon as possible, or digital - still undecided on that extra expense.

I love the supercharged ability or whatever it is actually called. I'm not sure if they are all the same but my character is a hunter and mine is basically the golden gun from Goldeneye, I have had some awesome moments using that.

They are unique to the classes - yeah the hunter's golden gun is awesomely badass! It's also by far the hardest to use effectively in PVP, since it has a couple seconds initiation time, and then requires aim to shoot people and times out after 10 seconds. The titan and warlock are both more of a "panic button" super - the titan especially. He does a "hulk smash" that kills everything in a small radius, the warlock throws a mega-grenade that also kills everything in a radius. The warlock is best used by double jumping beforehand to get a good aerial view of the enemies before throwing, but is mostly decent as a panic move - the hunter ends up dead if trying to activate in the midst of death! In the final game, there are several subclasses for each that give different supers / abilities. We can see a tease of one in the options menu, but it's level 15 locked so no access. "Bladestorm" instead of golden gun I think, for hunter.

I maxed a hunter in the alpha, it's probably my fav class so far - the throwing knife is great as well as the golden gun, and they're quite manoeuvrable and also a bit tanky. Also they have fancy-looking cloaks! I just maxed a warlock in this beta, it's great too - they're all great lol - a warlock has mostly AoE attacks and is real fast, but weak armor. Just started a new titan, which is heavily armored and slow.

Sucks gamestop isn't giving out any more codes for preorders I need that code!!! I've watched some vids already and it looks really fun.

Just got back from gamestop I called up and they got a new page of codes a few hours ago so I went up and preordered the game and season pass for 10$.

F5ing this thread should get you one fairly quick, or the reddit linked a few posts ago perhaps. Like PS4, I believe Xbox people all got 3 codes per preorder so they should be plentiful

Mine was installing for an hour so I took a shower while it was at 6% then come out and it's still at 6%. Wtf is anyone else having extremely slow installs I just uninstalled and restarted it cause I wasn't sure if it froze.

Had this issue on ps 4 and changing my DNS settings pushed it through
