Yeah the nodes common to all subclasses (jump, grenade, class ability) just need unlocked the once. The two groups of four on the right are unique.

Awesome, thanks for the clarification!

Never played the first destiny and just bought this today I think it's awesome so far.

The first enemy I killed who had a name dropped a purple box and I spent like 10 minutes trying to open it thinking it was an epic item

Hehe. Probably took me way too long to figure out ammo drops as well.

In case anyone hasn’t seen it, Target has currently, and Wal-Mart will soon, a special where if you buy a branded box of pop tarts you can get a destiny 2 xp boost. The target one includes a mount! Can take 3 business days to get your rewards, and there are weird stipulations on how and what you spend as proof. (Entire receipt picture, all four corners, multiple pictures is fine if receipt won’t fit in one EXCEPT if it’s more than 5 pictures)

Started playing yesterday, finished campaign and hit level 20 today. A little concerned about the amount of content/longevity of this game for PC gamers, but all in all, it's been fun so far.

These games are made for max level. Like, I’m super happy I don’t have to faf around with a bunch of lowbie grinding crap like in WoW. Give me a feel for my character's abilities and let me loose in dungeons and raids.

Raid. Not dungeons AND raids. End game content is lacking.

Strikes aren’t dungeons? My bad.

Strikes are those orange side missions that show up on the map with an added timer mechanism usually added to increase the frustration level. Previously they were side missions with random ability burns and higher level mobs to increase the difficulty.

Huh?

Orange things on map are Adventures.

Blue things on map are Quests.

Red things on map are Story Missions.

Strikes are in the strike playlist, which is not a map location because it is an independent thing in the director.

Nightfall strikes are extra hard strikes from.the strike playlist, which are also not map locations.

Raids are their own thing in the director.

Yeah, the strikes come from the adventures and I’m complaining about the lack of variety in modifiers on strikes between 1 and 2. Maybe the replayability will improve with the DLC but it’s not there now. I remember spending hours playing on 1 to be able to do a nightfall solo, no desire to do that with 2.

The strikes and adventures are totally unrelated.

However, I agree they are missing a lot when compared with D1. The actual strikes are much improved, but lack of a heroic level (+modifier) playlist is a weird oversight which I'm sure will be corrected down the road. Also yeah, not much motivation to run nightfalls when exotics can be found much more easily these days I liked stingy loot tables.

I may not be making myself clear. At least one of the adventures was the same story-line as a strike. That awful strike with the teleporting guy and it was a pita, I gave up trying to solo it after 3 or 4 times attempts.

Strikes are absolutely pointless in this game outside of the nightfall. The only reasons to play them is to practice running through for when it's their turn to be the nightfall (even though regular strikes won't have the same modifiers), or if you are bored. If they made the drops worthwhile with higher difficulties I would maybe play them. You get better drops from grinding public events.

It is still a fun game and while they did improve some things over D1, they absolutely screwed up a few things on this one making it more for the casual player. I went from struggling hard core getting drops in D1 to getting not only all drops easily in D2, but raid drops from not even completing the raid lol...I mean wtf. I signed on one day and got the raid rocket launcher from Hawthorne from our clan nightfall drop and while I like it, I didn't earn it imo.

I still use it, but I'm sure the grinders from D1 know what I mean about that satisfaction of getting drops from completing end game stuff.

The no chat and default whispers off is an extremely strange choice for a game like this. I get what they’re trying to do, but it isnt going to work. Games like this thrive off communities, and you take that away, it’s just a lame shooter.
Mm

I agree with that, it needs to embrace that aspect of the MMO genre if it's going to try to borrow parts of the MMO structure.

I also agree that strikes have been badly watered down. At least have strike-specific loot like D1 had - otherwise what's the point?

It’s ****ing dumb. Like the rat king quest line requires you to do a bunch of stuff while in a fireteam. How am i supposed to find one with no chat and no matchmaking?

It’s one of the most ridiculous things ive ever seen implemented in a game.

Im level 250 already but already bored. Meh.

I’m reading that there’s not even chat in clans. Like what? LOL.

so I guess what you have to do is go onto bungies website, register, go on to the fireteam finder forum, find willing players, add them, meet them in game, do your quest

k.

is this 2002 or am I tripping?

if you want to market this game as a mostly "solo" experience and remove most forms of socialization and reinforce that by default banning whispers, why make quests that force you to group? Why make basically all end game content impossible solo?

this is really bad design. I dont see the PC gaming community having a lot of patience for this.

Or reddit, or here, whatever other forums you may discuss games on, discord groups, and so on.

I'm not saying a region text chat / recruiting / other in-game irc channels is a bad idea, far from it. It works very well in Warframe, on PS4 even. But great numbers of the Destiny community are already in some kind of loosely connected group that works well for these things (see this thread for D1 raid groups forming a few years ago). They want you to make actual friends, join a clan etc. I really don't think it's focused as "mostly a solo game", far from it.

Isn't the half the point of it being in Blizzard launcher that there is a global frinds list chat there, no matter what game people are playing?

That’s the thing though, this is 2017. Those are very basic things to have in a game. This game will not thrive without them.

On console, sure. As a PC game and community, it isnt going to work. And bungie has said repeatedly that it’s not going to happen.

you can join the regular 2p2 clan if you want, it's cross platform. CPHoya (PC, also PS4?) is admin/founder or I can approve applicants if he's not online. Sadly prob won't be getting much free loot from the PS4 people, at least at the current weeks.
