Mine was only a couple hundred meg where some redittors were talking about over a gig, any idea on that? PS4 FYI

It's 600mb to be able to start it up and listen to the music, it does another 12gb or so in the background.

You can see details by options button -> information on it's dashboard tile, or notifications -> options button -> downloads.

That's what I was hoping, yeah, it's 15.1g on my machine now so should be good to go for Tuesday!

It feels a little different but still pretty smooth on the controls after playing the first level. Supers and grenade cool downs were slower. I'm guessing different armors will affect that.

Yeah, the new guns feel new but the gunplay still feels right, looking forward to the rest of the game.

Game feels really good for the most part, am stoked for the full release. I like "countdown" (stupid name), I like the story mission and the strike, I like what I've played of the new sentinel Titan (though I kept making bubbles by accident when I wanted Captain America!). I like the new crucible UI with tons of info. I even like the weapon loadout changes, though I think power ammo is way too stingy in PVE and don't like the selfish nature of it in PVP.

I am very disappointed in the beta however There's basically nothing to it, and in comparison to the Destiny 1 first look alpha and then beta, both which could be grinded hard for their durations with still more remaining undiscovered, it's quite a let down to have basically a crucible only beta. And even that isn't as featureful as the first beta, which at least had two maps without having to change game type, and then iron banner (maybe that'll happen?).

Everyone is level 20 already, there is no levelling up, there is nothing to unlock except weapon / armor drops. The weapons with no different rolls, right now seem dreadful. I get it some people hated not getting the "god roll Grasp of Malok" or whatever despite days of grinding. I am the opposite. I thought it might be OK, but already I got several duplicate weapons and sharded them for no reward at all. I got a nice drop of a full auto scout with stability enhancing perks. Then another. Then watched Lirik streaming, his friend had the exact same gun, soon enough Lirik did too. Meh.

There's no patrol, no tower, nowhere to just go and goof around.

I think they intentionally made the beta this bare to make sure players didn't do too much before the game comes out. They probably could have included a patrol you could do in maybe a locked down area but there is enough there to at least test the controls and a few weapons. The scout I used seemed a little weak but I am guessing there will be a few better ones to get when the game comes out. I will need to work on aiming the grenade launcher to judge it's distance. I found myself almost aiming at their body getting close up.

Interesting theory - let's hope so!

I'd be happier about that theory if they can do differential updates and not send us 1.5gb every couple weeks...

haha just a guess! They made a ton available in the first beta (too much imo). Like I said they could have maybe included 1 patrol in a locked area but overall I'm fine with limited stuff to do.

A few initial thoughts (I haven't played the strike yet)

- Heavy ammo is very scarce
- Supers and grenades take a very long time to charge (guessing armor will affect this).
- The character initial jumps do seem a bit slower than D1. I need to test this more just to see if it's because I haven't a Destiny game in a long time
- Graphics look solid on the PS4 in that first level (enemy shields appear brighter)
- I probably will not like how they switched up the weapon placements but that will be TBD. It was nice to do an instant switch and continue firing of primary to primary without having to go to the load screen. The downside being the double reload of course but for enemies you almost finish off it worked well.
- Grenade launcher was tough to aim and didn't seem to do monster damage but I need to do more testing on it.

When does the PC beta start?

Has anyone tried/used the Ishtar Commander App? They are saying it will work on D2 but may take a couple of weeks to sync up etc. I just downloaded it and it looks very slick and easy to navigate.

Never that one in particular, but I did make heavy use of similar ones that were chrome extensions - Tower Ghost for Destiny, and Destiny Item Manager. Super useful with no vault space and juggling things between characters.

PC Beta is underway, I'll be on tonight.

Someone should start a D2 thread, because D2 PC is going to be GOAT. If it's as great as it seems, I doubt I even end up playing on PS4.
