How do you guys maximize your playing time? Or am I just not playing enough? It always seems like I'm behind a curve lol. Heres what I normally do...

Every day I play between 1-3 hours depending on the day, but for the week I'd say I probably play 10 hours about, maybe 12.

I do the daily every day unless its a level 30 hard which for some reason I can't beat at level 29. Not sure if I'm just that bad at this game (I don't think thats it) or if my gear isn't good enough (I think this is it). I do all 6 Vanguard Bounties every day along with a few Eris bounties. I usually sprinkle 2-3 Vanguard Roc's a day as well.

Since I don't really have a group of friends to play with consistently I don't do Raid or the weekly (And I'm assuming this is where the hole in my game is). I also don't really care for PvP at this point so I almost never do crucible.

Am I right in assuming I need to either do PvP or find people to raid/weekly with on a consistent basis to get over the hump?

I hadn't done my first raid until this last week and I've been playing the game since release. It's not necessary, but it's definitely a lot of fun and a good way to get more gear/weapons you can't get playing pve or pvp. I don't really do pvp either, and I don't consider it necessary. If you're wanting to get to level 31 (the highest you can go without raid gear) just keep doing what you're doing and focus on getting all your weapons maxed out, which will eventually help you out if you decide you want to raid.

I suggest looking on reddit/destinythegame for tips/info or reddit/fireteams for people to play with if you're having trouble doing a certain strike, or want to try the nightfall. Also /fireteams will have a lot of people looking for one more to do a raid, from the few experiences I had doing the raid, everyone was very welcoming to first timers, but it's a pretty major prerequisite to have your weapons all at or over 300 and gear maxed out as much as possible.

I read this earlier and looked up your stats - was gonna write a good amount about obtaining shards since I saw you were still 29... and now I refresh the page before writing and see you hit 30! congrats!

Being 30 will make a huge difference in those level 30 heroics, as a 29 you will have been suffering a ~30% damage penalty against the level 30 enemies.

Raiding is not entirely necessary, but it is one of the highlights of the game. I mean it sorta is necessary - you need to raid to get the armor to hit 32 - but the only thing you need 32 for is more raiding, if you get what I mean.

I do recommend making it a focus to do both the weekly nightfall and the weekly heroic 30 each and every week. They are soloable (but really really tough sometimes), a group is most recommended. It shouldn't be hard to find one or two other 2p2ers to run through a nightfall or weekly, especially on a Tuesday or Wednesday. In addition to a huge pile of rep, and high chance of free exotic prize, a nightfall gives a +25% buff to all rep and XP earned over the week, so most people make it a priority to do on Tuesdays (along with fresh raid runs). A weekly heroic 30 gives another large pile of rep, XP and 9 coins (which is almost a free exotic too from Xur). Right now I still need to run the weekly 3 times, and given how fun it is this week for a solar warlock with solar weapons I'd run through the nightfall with you anyway even though I don't need it.

One thing to do is make sure you have plenty 2p2ers added on your risnds list. If you see anyone on a weekly or nightfall, and not in a full fireteam just hop in! They will likely have set their fireteam to private if they didn't want friends jumping in. Alternatively, just start it up yourself and send out a few invites to any friends online playing destiny but not in a team - if you've started the mission they can see "Annyong - Playing weekly heroic strike on Earth" or whatever and decide if they wanna jump in, maybe swap out to a char that needs it or maybe they're afk or planning to do other things and ignore, no-one will take offense

Sometimes I feel bad about joining a fire team if the players are all levels above me but I guess I can't really hurt anyone by joining lol. Plus now I'm 30 so only a handful are above me.

One more question for you guys. Do you keep all the Legendary Equipment and weapons you don't use? Or do you shred it? I'm carrying a decent amount of Legendary stuff I probably won't use but I keep it "just in case". When I shredded one pair of Gauntlets for another Class I got like 4 Shards so I could probably fill out my Equipments right quick if I shredded everything I didn't use.

Also is there an up to date list of names for me to add?

Basically what I do is every Tuesday on the reset I try to hit the nightfall ASAP since it gives you the xp bonus for the week. Make sure you do the weekly on the highest level possible to get strange coins. Then I knock out the bounties as quickly as possible. When you turn them in make sure to have the weaspons equipped you want the experience to go to.

Also, when doing the bounties try to figure out the quickest way to knock them out as they can be very time consuming if you don't know what to do. One of the best levels for a decent amount of bounties is the Fist of Crota. I also found the Worlds Grave, and the Archive are another couple of levels that are useful for bounties (killing 10 fallen doing archive on heroic modifier) as well as (killing 10 hive in the worlds grave middle section on heroic section where you kill 4 yellow hive and then die and repeat).

Another good place for bounties is the dark beyond on the moon. Towards the end you find the dead guardian and watch a cut scene then a door opens with a bunch of thralls running straight at u. You can knock out headshots, fusion rifle double kills, rapid heavy weapon kills and there's a few yellow hive majors. Kill everything except the yellow hallowed night so when you wipe it starts back over with the double doors opening and the thralls rushing out of it.

Good luck with that one. Ive asked for screen names more than once and never gotten a response from the 2P2ers. Your so much better off looking on Destiny team finder and becoming a member of a smaller clan. That's what i did. I became part of The Guardians of The Fridge and have about 40 guys to run all my stuff with. Legitimate helpful group of people not an exclusive thing like I feel some of the people on this thread can be.

Have to disagree with your point about joining a different smaller clan. It is your/anyone's choice obv but we have a great group of players and I would be happy to add you to the roster.

It is kind of an awkward process they have in place though, I believe you have to request to join from the bungie website and then I will approve you, and you have to set your active clan to PS4.

I'll be carrying (soloing) a bunch of lower level 27+ through the lamps/bridge phases of Crota's End tonight. I have the lamp human cannon down pat and can finish those 2 parts in less than 10 minutes.

Finally had Hunger of Crota drop Friday and maxed it today. After never getting Gjallahorn and having 4 Swordbreakers, 3 Lights of the Abyss, and 2 Blackhammers, it feels good with the poor man's version.

Currently loving my 331x3 setup: Another NITC w radar, Icebreaker, and HoC.

If you go back itt there is a pretty long list with PSN and XBONE names if you just send invites (maybe put 2+2 in the message) you will probably get accepted by everyone. The only issue is PSN messaging can suck balls and not work for days so it might take some time to get connected.

I'd be down for VOG hard mode after the late game if anyone is planning on doing that. Never done hard mode before, and I want to get the drops before reset.

We attempted some exotic farming last night and got spimp a hawk moon, then died a bunch to atheon. I'd be down for a flawless run tonight

Leveling up my warlock to do more than 1 run on the raid. Damn the warlocks supers are awful.

Much appreciated! I am trying to finish up leveling up my dragon breath rocket launcher and then its next on my exotic weapon list to upgrade. It is the only exotic primary I have gotten so far. This next week after the reset I should be able to get my warlock to 31 after I farm spinmetal and buy the last armor I am missing.

The fireborn is such a valuable feature imo for raids. I also have seen a warlock solo the first section of crota with ease using a solar grenade to stun the thralls and then builds his super just in case he needs it to revive himself.


This guy also has said that he can solo the first part of VOG...does anyone know how he does it with one person? I haven't played with him since to ask.

I'm down to (speed)run any raid after my session of pokers if we can get 6 clanmembers together since i need the trophy, i havent played with any of u but recently joined yolo contendere

got flawless earlier today and did the ghosts yesterday
then i'll only need the salvage captures and 100 crucible marks and i'll have platinum

Still a long way to go here, as I had been traveling a lot and only have two characters up to level 20 and 23. Looks like I may be busy soon again to kill any extra time.

Once you get used to it, the warlock supers are pretty goat-tier imo
