I read in a review that there is an item that respawns enemies as more difficult versions.

This decreasing health thing is really pissing me off.

So if I keep failing at a boss, the way that it helps me out is by reducing my max health to where the boss can one-shot me?

Effigies don't seem that rare so far. Ive used a bunch and still have 11 and I'm about 12 hours in. I found the first couples areas a bit rough but it starts to snowball and get easier once you level up.

So apparently the ring of life and protection can be repaired for 3000 souls, seems pretty good for preserving humanity.

Oh cool, so instead of the difficulty increasing as you go instead it gets easier as you're able to in a sense break the difficulty mechanics of the game....sweet.

Well I've also gotten better. I am still not far at all and apparently there's a big jump in difficultly later in the game.

Yes, 12 hours in tells you exactly how the rest of the game will go. Easy sailing from there on out. Just bring it back to redbox already, yeesh.

I was stocked up on effigies and lifegems for a bit. Now I've just completed a stretch where I had to run from the bonfire to the boss so many times that not one of the eight or nine enemies between the bonfire and the boss spawn anymore. My deaths were probably 50/50 between fighting the boss and dying before I got there. Then I died another half dozen times fighting the boss. I believe I have three effigies left now. 20 hours in and clearly there will be no ebb and flow to the difficulty whatsoever. The game is impossible. We should all quit now.

For the losing health when hollow, there's a ring pretty early on that doesn't let your health bar drop below 80% when you die:

Spoiler:
It's in Heide's Tower of Flame at the far end of the drawbridge, iirc.

Ring location:

Spoiler:
Like, leading up to the Blue Cathedral or w/e with the instant boss fight? I've been up there (haven't won the boss fight though) and don't think I picked a ring up. I haven't been to the area you get to from the bridge where the bonfire is though.

Spoiler:
It's in the chest right before the mist for the boss fight. It's the ring of binding.

Cool, I'll check again, I remember a body there with an item but maybe I missed a chest. Thx!

This gutter part is really messing with me while being hollow, but I love the ring of favor and protection, my souls stay around forever-3000 for each death and about 75 seconds of travelling/ loading to manjula and back and repairing the ring. I just want to be human, can't find any effigies and have been getting summoned almost nonstop and no humanoiding from that.

I'm simultaneously having a lot of fun and feeling really annoyed at this game. There are 2 bosses that seem a little too hard for me to kill right now

Spoiler:
blue cathedral dude, the pursuer in forest of fallen giants - against both, I just die so easily and my weapons are all too ****ty to do anything to them

and No Man's Wharf is just absurdly large for me to try to even get to the boss from the bonfire on 3 estus flasks (did get the ship in though). And I don't think I can actually progress until I get by one of those three.

So I'm completely stuck.

Spoiler:
Killed the Last Giant on my first attempt. Got the soldier key. Opened up all the doors that really led to goodies but no progress. Found a bonfire that seems to lead to nowhere. Can't figure out what to do with the trees/giants i can examine. Keep getting annihilated by floating dude on the roof. Discovered a new area down below. Went down and found cool sounding new weapon. Unfortunately i need 5 more Dex to use it and not sure i want to put 5 levels into something like Dex that will contribute nothing to me at the moment (cleric w/ mace+3).

Restarted game to see what other weapons are like. Went knight. Sweet lord game is easy with a broadsword. Also tried dagger (can't use w/ cleric) which also pwns compared to my mace. Basically one-sessioned it back to where I had been, still full health, never died.

Not sure if I'm gonna keep pwning with the knight or go back to my cleric who sucks. Really tempted to stay in crush mode, but the challenge is the game, right? And i like the RPG story elements for a cleric that exist only in my head.

No hints, plz, just blogging.

I'm pretty sure No Man's Wharf has a bug

Spoiler:
So I used

Spoiler:
that dude's puzzlestone or whatever to turn on the lights in the entire area

and the two-armed scary things cower in fear of the light, etc. There's one place that they have their own little apartment they retreat into; if I enter that with a torch lit, all of a sudden they aren't scared of the light anymore and will chase me into the light and kill me. WTF?

Have now lost ~9000 souls to this ****.

Ok, so I used the interwebz to grab a friend for the Blue Cathedral boss, and

Spoiler:
there's some dude past it who won't talk to me and a bonfire in an empty room. WOW GREAT BOSS FIGHT GUYS THX A LOT A++ WOULD FIGHT AGAIN

...and also went on the interwebz to grab a friend for the Pursuer.

Is this cheating? It feels too easy.

I summon people for pretty much every boss fight. Good luck in Belfry Luna or Lost Bastille without help.

Spoiler:
I don't think that's a bug because there's something really good stuff past their den. I can't say for sure, though, because I don't really understand why they would be protecting that stuff. I died a ton there, too.

I found those fights to be super easy. I think it took me about 5 tries on both.

Anyone playing as the sorcerer? It sort of sucks having to use 3 level upgrades to just be able to hold a shtty shield, but I almost feel as it is a must to have one this early. I'm digging the fast travel option. Fun game so far. I am ready I think to face the first boss of the fallen giant area. Only about a few hours in but so far so good.

Spoiler:
It's not a bug they do this animation where they go ape**** after a while with a torch in their face and go balls out. You should be able to run past them with the lights on but if you want to go in that building you gotta kill em quick.
