As someone who was in your position a few weeks ago, I feel like a pretty big one. DS1 should be like $20 now, check it out!

a.) finish Dark Souls (I'm pretty close to the end I think, my progress:
Spoiler:
have 3 of the 4 souls that Frampt told me to get, only New Londo is left
) and join this party a little later
b.) start DS2 now and get on the hype train with all of you at the same time
Definitely finish DS1. There really won't be much you miss out on. Dark Souls is extremely slow to give up its secrets. Nobody even understood the main storyline until like 9 months after release.

Go. Play it. Play it now.

Started new character. Went Cleric. My guy looks like a boss. Unable to play past character creation due to real life.

Minor Spoiler:

Spoiler:
No more saved by the fog gate! Enemies can interrupt and stop you from going through.

Pretty epic so far. Beat the first boss after 4-5 tries and got destroyed by the second the 3 times I tried. No clue how I will beat him tomorrow.

I'm going to try to avoid this thread, mostly because I'm too OCD to avoid spoiler tags.

I feel like people that just didn't play this game or try to give it an honest shot or doing themselves a massive disservice.

That's not even a spoiler AD iyam. I feel like that's def ok to post as it literally has nothing to do with anything story or event related.

This is brutal for people who have decided to wait for the PC version.
I don't think I'll last.

My wife is leaving tomorrow to go out of town for about 3-4 days for pool state so I will be able to have absolute focus for these days to get a good start hopefully on the game. I might even ask her if she can leave tonight instead of tomorrow so I don't have to wait any longer lol. I'm probably doing a sorcerer build with a mix of a little hand to hand combat. Anyone else doing a similar build?

Anyone know anything about the equipment burden thresholds? I read somewhere that they moved the 50%->60%, but I can't tell any difference between <25%, <30%, and <60%.

Got mine last night and some nice bananas to eat while I play......get home around midnight and decide to take a nap (I do graves) and instead ended up sleeping thru the night lol. Now I'm wide awake and my gf leaves for work soon.....I'm legit giddy.

For as much as I play this game I should really not be so bad at it. Love it tho.

First boss is clearly the ogre thing before the first house of fire keepers you get to. And it killed me like 8x before I stopped trying.

F that guy. I'm soooo bad. I know the enemy attack patterns yet I choose to not wait for openings and just die in special ways.

How are the graphics on the consoles?
I read some people complaining about them a few days ago on the leaked versions.

Not that great. Gameplay is king though. I'm dying too much to enjoy the scenery anyway.

I know only through experimentation that there is one at 70%. I'm currently just below it.

Some enemies run from light/fire and some areas are very dark. I've been to one area where it would be almost impossible to navigate your first time through without using a torch and lighting sconces.

Where are you?

Spoiler:
The first boss you should fight is in Forest of Fallen Giants.

I'm a level 59 warrior right now.

vgr 13
end 9
vit 23
atn 5
str 25
dex 11
adp 16
int 5
fth 5

agility 93
poise 12.7
equip load 80.3

Poise and equip load are boosted with rings.

It's working out great so far. I think I'm going to keep pouring points into adaptability whenever I can. It boosts agility and poise, and the agility boost is very noticeable.

I've found some excellent armor pretty early:

Spoiler:
After you kill The Pursuer, go straight ahead and drop down through the hole in the floor. You'll find Drangleic sword, shield, armor, gauntlets, and leggings. The shield is 100% physical and the armor is well beyond anything else I've seen through seven or eight areas so far. It took the max load boost ring and 23 vitality to use everything but the sword and stay below 70%, though.

Do you have to keep finding more torches? I burned through my first one in the tutorial area lolz.

Also, pro tip: it appears hitting B on a ladder now jumps off, which basically means that if you're high enough off the ground that you feel the need to speed down a ladder, you will now kill yourself instead. You have to hold down + hold B in order to speed down.
