Gods be praised! Not sure how I missed the merchant after the gargoyles. Derp. Also good to know she's not vital. Thanks for the relief. Whew

Demon's Souls would let you get away with an accidental NPC hit or two. Dark Souls was like..screw that noise.

Am I right in that a thief requires mostly dexterity for his weapons and not strength which is for knights and warriors primarily? Whats the second most important stat? Endurance because we need to execute a lot combo strikes and still need to be able to parry and escape at any time while in combat?

Found him but he doesn't sell purging stones?

There really aren't any classes as such in Dark Souls. Only starting points.

But yeah, if you want to build a dagger-wielding character, then the damage of most daggers scale with dex, so you want to pump that.

If endurance works the same as in Demon's Souls, then it's a very useful stat for any melee characters. It'll let you block more, hit more, run more, roll more easily and resist more damage.

And vitality is always nice.

Yeah I knew that, but I will stick mainly to a thief and daggers style thats why I asked.

This games amazing. Finally am done with blight town, quelag was the toughest boss ive face yet, died like 4 times before killing herr
Spoiler:
equiped black knight shield with 95 fire res and just crushed her
. None of the bosses are giving me much trouble, but im like 1-5 against invading players. Pyromancers are owning me, anyone know how to beat them as a knight? Ive got drake tail sword, high endurance/resistance/health and my armor (elite knights armor) is all at +5, and yet i get two shot killed in pvp.

Also, the best place ive found to farm/ level is in the depths. With drakes tail sword you can 1 hit kill te baskilisks for high exp and the eventual evil eye, and the rats give about 1.5 humanity per run (at 10 humanity lvl) and like 1 green titanite shard per run from the oozes, plus the occasional very rsre large titanite shard. It gets you about 1.4k souls/minute which isnt that much, but the items make it insanely +ev.

Anyone else have any good levelig spots?

Drake sword makes this game more fun IMO. Don't care if it's cheating!

Drakes sword is cool, but definitely cheap. Kinda annoying that I havent found a sword that even comes close

I don't know if it's that I'm good or if the people invading me just suck, but I've been owning every single one of them. Block, circle right, strong attack, repeat, game over.

Yeah, best place I've found is Darkroot garden. There is a bonfire behind the fake wall next to the door that you open with the crest from blacksmith Andrei.

Through this crested door is part of the garden that contains three human enemies, and three transparent enemies that you can't target-lock. I kill the three human enemies for 5k (2K+2K+1K), and 1 transparent enemy (2k) for a quick 7k souls in about 2 minutes. Well worth saving up and buying the crest (it's 20k) from Andrei, pays for itself very quickly.

If you are a low level character, I would avoid the transparent guy as he's the biggest threat.
Also, I haven't tried it yet as I just thought of it, but I imagine that if you have the miracle 'Force', you can lure them near the cliff edge and just blast them off.

This game is so awesome, but there are quite a few things the game doesn't teach you that are pretty useful. Thought were worth sharing:

Whenever you get a new weapon/shield/item, always go into your inventory and highlight it and then 'Toggle Display' until you get the written description. There is sometimes info in here that is not shown on the stat display.
For example, I found the Grass Crest Shield and ignored it for ages. Only when I later read the description did I find out that it heps regenerate your stamina faster.

Master the kick! Not only does it stagger the enemy, but any shielded enemies will also be left open to attack.

Move sets:

As well as the standard R1,R2 and two-handed R1 and R2 attacks. Some weapons have some unique attacks.

Examples I've found so far -

the 'kick' move (forawrd + R1) with the Falchion equipped doesn't kick, but does a horizontal slash followed by a quick backflip-evade.
Pressing R1 while sprinting with the Uchigatana does a quick lunge attack.

I'd recommend playing around with the moves with any weapon you intend to use a lot.
Try R1,R1. R2,R2. R1,R2. R2,R1 etc etc.
R1 after rolling, R2 after rolling. R1 after backstep, R2 after backstep.
Try all these 1 handed and 2 handed, you might find something new!

thats awesome, i didnt know all of that about combos, thanks! It took me ages to find out that the drake sword gets a lightning attack (consumes durability) when held 2 handed!

I've been playing hollowed the entire game so far. Does lighting a bonfire cost a humanity, or can you de-hollow and go back and light all the bonfires (so long as you don't die)?
Dark Souls (Demon's Souls 2) Quote

Lighting the bonfires doesn't cost anything, and can be done regardless of hollow status. Kindling a bonfire, however, requires non-hollowed status and costs 1 humanity.
Dark Souls (Demon's Souls 2) Quote

You can light bonfires in hollow or human form. To kindle the bonfire you need to be in human form and have 1 humanity.

Hollow: No threat of being invaded, but you can't summon help.

Human: You can be invaded, invade others, summon help, and be summoned by others for help.

And your humanity number increases your drop rate for rare items, whether hollow or human.

Wow, uhhh just a little advice. Don't get stuck down in Ash Lake without the Lordvessel thing that let's you warp to other bonfires. I got 2x cursed down here (25% HP) and am currently suicide jumping in Great Hollow when on the verge of getting cursed again to avoid having 12.5% HP. GG From Software.

Whats the difference between using a fire keeper soul on the fly and giving it to that lady in the cell at firelink shrine? I used my first one without knowing that this lady exists...

Giving it to the lady gives u a +1 to your health pots. Drinking it just wastes it, i did the same thing at first.

I don't understand why switching between targets in lock-on mode works so poorly. I pretty much just press lock-on twice to switch to the nearest enemy but it should work better.

Just wait until you unlock the door in Darkroot Garden with the Crest of Astoria. You get to face enemies that are half invisible that you can't even lock on to.

I stopped watching after him smoking Bell Gargoyles in like 15 secs (which took me about 30 deaths) because I felt depressed...
